  • And they have arrived !

  • After the oil got contaminated and slightly washed down with fuel the turbos also ceased up. I decided to strip them and do the rebuild myself as the costs for that at the moment to be done profe

  • Well that was a quick trip, planned to stay to Thursday but unfortunately had to come back earlier.   At least Jimmer now has all parts to start an engine build.   Hopefully we wil

Right half of a lwb welded to left half of swb ?

So my zed is on the ramps for a second day after they forgot to adjust the ride height before alignment.

This time hopefully they got it right.

One thing that baffles me is that they said that the front right of my zeds chassis is 30mm longer than the left.

How can this be possable ?

My wife measured it?!

What points are they measuring from? I’m assuming wheel centre to wheel centre?

Great to see it in the final stages Lee! You got it running yet or are you waiting for it to go to the tuners?

You may recall I had a similar issue, where my passenger side rear wheel was further back than the drivers. In short it was down to the rear traction rod. I believe like me you’ve got full aftermarket arms? The toe and camber can be correct but the traction arm throws the wheel further back and alters the caster angle.

With the lack of news and your last comment on Facebook, I'm guessing things didn't go to plan. Gutted for you if that's the case.

What happened?

Not to plan as such.

Thought we had an issue with the starter or flywheel at first.

We then proceeded to check everything over and removed the coil packs and plugs to inspect the heads.

Chamber 5 was spotless so it was either no spark or no fuel; but seeing as it wouldn't start and locked up quickly we think we have a stuck injector as the first fault.

Next which was the biggest unknown issue is we found metal filings in the plenum which I've been told could be turbo failure.

At this point it's engine out to get the turbos off and inspect and clean everything again.

We cranked her a few times before discovering the material so I doubt damage to the engine, but we won't know until its stripped again.

Good news is we used a bora scope on the heads and they look fine.

To find metal filings in the plenum from a none running motor is hard to believe thinking the turbo housing as the culprit mate..you would of heard audible evidence 1st imho:no: Without trawling back through your posts have you had any parts of the intake powder coated? as the filings might be blasting grit still hanging around if it has not been through a hot parts washer prior to the oven. Who built the motor this present time?

Nothing has been powder coated.

The filings that were found were on the passenger side only.

Not sure how they got there, but plan to take the plenum off tomorrow and give it a good look at.

The tops of the cylinders looked ok and intact when using the borascope.

Did you manage to check all of the valves were still in tact?
