I'm just curious really. I've been changing several suspension bits on the car lately and I noticed the springs on these don't seem to have held up too well so wondered what others are like:

I believe its one of the failing of these units Lee ive heard others say they dont stand up to the weather as well as the BC units. Id remove em and have em blasted and repaint them.

Mine have been on for about 18 months now and the springs look shocking.

Mine have been fitted for a year and still look fresh out of the box, car is garaged though and not used in bad weather (if I can help it) and not used in winter.

Jeez Lee my OE suspension that was 24 years old had less corrosion.......

How long have they been on the car?

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

Mine are the same. I'll be powder coating mine rather than painting them........ Or a I may be changing to KW version 3's

Will powder coating be flexible enough ?

You can powder coat with plastic instead of paint. Heat it up and dunk it into a pot of plastic powder and it melts onto it.

Plastic isn't necessarily flexible, can be brittle!

As in rubbery stuff. Like they come in.

I've done it, but I don't know how durable it would be from grit and stuff abrasing it away.

ha ha, sneaked that one in Simon

Yes, you can put an elastomer compound into the powder that gives it a degree of flex without breaking. Done it to a fair few motorbike springs with no long term issues

I'm just a bit disappointed in them really. I can't remember when I bought them but I do little mileage each year. Would be good to hear Meister comment on this

I have not fitted mine yet, that looks bad would not have expected that to happen.

I think there is some degree of maintenance to these sort of upgrades, whenever I remove my wheels I always give all my suspension components a wipe over with a cloth soaked in wd40.

Time will tell how effective this is but it's looking shiny still a year on so fingers crossed, as we all know though winter is hard on these cars now....

I'll have to check mine and report back.......

......But I reckon you make a good point there mate!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

The only trouble with the powder coat which is applied stock is that it's very thin and has no primer powder coat. Mine have been redone in black with the proper powder coat base and then a heavy application of powerboat black.

You might say this experience has dampened his view on these coilovers.

The springs are an exposed moving part, open to the elements and stone chips. Unfortunately this can happen over time. We have changed our coating recently in order to improve the durability but to keep cost down there is only so much we would do. It you want something to that lasts longer the cost do go up considerably. For instance Eibach springs have a good reputation but their springs are 2.5 time more than MeisterRs.

The springs are still functional and so long as they are not creaked or broken they are safe. Whilst are not covered in the 12 month warranty as they are not defective, please drop us an email with your details and we'll see if we can offer you something to help.

If anyone has questions about MeisterR products please drop us a PM or email info@meisterr.co.uk. We are here to help where we can and be as fair as possible.
