OK guys a simple poll to gauge interest in this years JAE show. The feed back from last year was not great from some members and now the entry prices have gone up from £30 to £45 on advanced tickets and £60 at the gate. No Saturday entry price you still pay £45 (or £60 at the gate)

http://japcarclub.org/index.php/blog/126-tickets-2016

Please post up your thoughts also and this will let the club know where we stand and what the members want to do.

Thanks Guys.

It's a tough decision but it was made easy by certain factors. It's literally a 20 minute drive from home which is great for me and I like spending time with fellow zedders that I've known for years and meeting new people. However the price just kills it for me, id gladly attend a different show if we had a club stand instead of JAE, as already been said it seems like JAE has lost it's appeal somewhat over the years.

So for that reason - I'm out.

But if we had a stand there I might have my arm twisted dependent on monies at the time.

I like the sound of an Ireland trip, also like the sound of what Ritchie is suggesting. Basically, if there's a decent thing going on, I'll go lol

I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

The way I look at it is, we could organise a week / weekend over here, use one of the units (they're huge) as a base of operations. If you fancied slumming it we could either camp up or bed down on air beds in the unit, have a daily route done out, say 100mile day trip, that would take in the majority of the South east over a couple of days, we could book a hotel down in Kerry, Cork or Galway, do a day or two around the lakes from Kerry up the west coast back across the midlands to our base for the return trip home to either Dublin or Rosslare. I actually love the Rosslare drive up through Wexford and on to Carlow. We could organise a coffee / pit stop every few miles and the coverage the cars would get would be phenomenal, especially as there's so few Z's over here:thumbup:

I voted yes but after seeing the ticket price increase I'm changing my mind it's a no from me. I just don't see the value in it now.

I'd just like to point out that this thread has had 78 views so far (2hrs), 8 people have replied and 9 people have voted:no:

Maybe because there is no "maybe" option. A simple yes/no is had to make people vote if they do want to go, but dont know what they will be working at the time. I have voted no because im sure I will be working (dont actually know yet) If by some good fortune im not, I would like to pop up for the day

We need a yes/no vote mate and If you are going up for the day you need to pay the full weekend rate of £45 and if you dont book in advance its £60 at the gate. So is it still a maybe? :)

Sorry it's a no for me,even though we have a good time when we go(as with me I bring my own entertainment....the wife)and with great members who attend but we do get bored quickly,I find that rather than standing there talking about zeds I'd rather be driving it,like other events we go when we drive out and do other things, and I'd rather put the money in doing more track days showing my zed this way:) but I would also be up for a road trip,

so I'm in:)

I'm likely a no too,

Its a real shame that they've hiked the prices so high this year and I think they will lose a number of the clubs.

Now if we could get 8 or more high end zeds at the NEC that would be great, then as many members to show support

we could give out a free hoodies on the day to members as long as you wear it for the duration of the show. :)

So better get to finishing the Zed then!

I won't be attending. It's not my thing. Tbh if I get to Japfest that will be my last year of that event too.

Id be interested in taking mine to the NEC if I get it up to a good enough standard by then. Have they confirmed this years dates yet?

If only 6 people come to JAE as everyone else has lost interest, i might reconsider not going i'm afraid.

I wouldn't be too disheartened with that figure. Quite a few members don't use the board regularly or at all and will show up. It does however show a drastic cut in popularity.

I'll decide closer to the time since i cant change my vote anyway! Is it just japfest and Beaulieu that are the other big ones (I know you don't go to japfest Si)?

There was a discussion about another Z classified meet like coventry which i would enjoy if it were made possible. The committee could also talk to the Zclub guys and maybe get a Fairlady Z annual meet, but that might need a bigger car park...

There are 2 Japfest shows, maybe 3. Japfest, Japfest 2 and Japfest Finale I think? True, I don't go to these, they're not my sort of thing either. I used to go to Japfest occasionally when it was in Castle Combe. However the show rapidly went down hill and, despite the odd interesting vehicle that might be there, it's all a little bit - low-brow really. Row upon row of Honda Civics, Subaru Imprezas, drift wagons (something else that doesn't interest me very much). So for me, other than the club stand, there was nothing else there of any interest personally. But there's a track session and Castle Combe was a nice local track. It always seemed to be raining though! lol

There are a few other shows. I wouldn't really call Beaulieu a National Event as such although we do get members along that live a little further north. ZClub also hold their own annual LakeZ event which actually looks really nice, but I've always been overseas when that's been on.

Thanks for the info :thumbup1:

Unfortunately due to Martinmacs sudden passing in December LakeZ won't be taking place for the foreseeable future. Some of us who used to help Martin put LakeZ on each year hope to bring it back again in 2017 but the location will need to change and there are a lot of logistical obstacles to overcome.

Who knows, 2017 could be the year me and you get our idea off the ground ;)

Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. (owned 2020 - now)

Zed #1: 1995 Blue Slicktop NA (2013-2015)

You'd be suprised Alic, there's a big jap car following in Ireland mate. Although I am finding it hilarious that some are saying they won't go to jae cos it's now £45 but are considering a trip to Ireland which dutchgold has stated cost £500 to come to jae last year?

I personally would go to jae this year and even bought a tent for the occasion so I'll be there, club stand or not..

I know that there will be many more people there other than the obvious poll at the beginning, but half the reason I would be going is to meet and talk to the members on here... Who have said they won't be going. Let's say I will probably still go, probably bring a friend along because otherwise my Z would only be out about 3 times in the year :)

That's a shame, Lexx :( I really hoped there'd be something on this year in his memory.

£45 to camp and stand in a field for 3 days, or circa £500 to drive around a beautiful country in a beautiful car....

Hmmm....

There might be a problem with that driving logistic for about a year...

Also how do tax and insurance work when you go to another country??

I recoiled in horror as I checked the price for Fishguard crossing to Ireland last night....

...and as Simon quite rightly said - a drive around France is hard to beat.
