  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Great day today, sun was shining, some very interesting cars and great food and drink. Alex loved the drive riding shotgun with daddy while mummy was sat in the back!

Saw 2 fellow Z32 owners however neither cars were currently on the road or a member of the club so I pushed them this way... Hopefully 2 more future members to come!!

Overall, a great day!

Not something I really wanted to do today; some emergency maintenance!

What happened? Injector issues?

I reckon he dropped a detailing swab. [emoji23]

Haha! No issues with the injectors, I machined the plenum in case I needed to access them so I didn’t have to do this bloody job again for a while! The problem was with the VTC solenoid. Before I changed my injectors, the passenger side solenoid was weeping slightly so I took it out and sealed it back in. I “thought” I did a good job of it and I followed the FSM by applying a blob of RTV into the corners of the gaskets before fitting the cam cover but alas, my previous weep, turned into an even heavier weep!

I noticed a drop on the garage floor when I had it out the other day, then I noticed another drop or 2 on the driveway (grrrr) when I was troubleshooting my braking vibration. I borrowed a borescope kit from work to have a dig around and find the source, which turned out to be the VTC solenoid.

I have been mulling over whether I should do the job before or after the Lakes trip as a have very few spare days leading up to it, but in the end I couldn’t leave it like that and pulled the trigger!

Got most of it back together now after resealing the offending area, but I had to call it a day to work a nightshift, doh! I’ll finish it off tomorrow.

I took the Z to work yesterday and noticed that one of my headlight bulbs had gone. Ordered a new set yesterday and it arrived today!

I decided to change from 5000k to a 4300k set... I took the pic below for comparison. Drivers side is the old 5000k set and new 4300k set on the passenger. I think it looks nice

Well my day started with the intention of cleaning the car ready for Garys Charity Family Fun Day this Saturday however I had to change my plans after being driven nutty with the state of the audio set up in the boot.

Firstly the wiring was just a mess, the cable selection was poor and the termination were very lazy.

Then the stereo used a CD multi changer in the boot that would rattle when you put any base through the 6x9s.

The MDF parcel shelf bowed where an amp was screwed to the underside.

Another amp made fitting the roof in the boot a PITA.

So with the after market head unit out to remove all the cable I took the opportunity to fit a standard UK radio and CD player. Gary had kindly given me a box of old units some time ago and I had pulled out what I needed and have had them “serviced”. The original loom had been hacked to give power to the aftermarket unit but thankfully it was all there and just needed repairing.

I’ll not be keeping this set up as it is. Over the winter will do a full OEM+ installation, this was just to help tidy the car up at the expense of an over powered poorly set up installation. I’m happy with the result.

Good call on the 4300k lights mate.... With the new MOT regs, anything which does not draw attention to a retro-fitted HID conversion is handy:cool:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Christened the zed today and gave her a wee bit of a quick going over.

Changed my sidelight bulbs from 6000k colour to some Philips 4000k led bulbs to bring them in line to my new HID kit.

I've also put in an order for a new steering wheel from Mondo!! Very excited:)
