General Discussions - 300ZX Related

My wheels need a tidy up and at the moment I'm thinking of going for a recreation of the original finish. As standard the have a diamond cut lip and centre with plain silver spokes. I imagine that this is going to cost quite a bit and may not last that long. There is a specialist nearby that can do this though. Other options- Plain silver Slightly darker silver Other options considered but not for me I think Matt bronze Gloss black Any thoughts/ ideas?

so my uk clocks have arrived and there seems to be one plug different to what is on the car, i have a 12 way socket on the gauges, but only a 8 way plug on the car, do i need to change the plug or can i just connect it up? i just don't want to go and plug anything in and damage something. looking at the extra pins on the socket they look to be mainly grounds that are connected elsewhere. the uk clocks came off an early car. Just fitted the first one of these to my new zed but I was wondering what is the point of the gold bracket ? I can't see any reason for it to be there.

Ok, I have my plenum off finally! I'm going to do the coolant bypass, the green lines is where I need to install the bypass pipe. The YouTube video ( ) which shows how to do the NA coolant bypass doesn't mention the pipes I've circled red. So I guess these have to remain. Unfortunately I've cut one of them. I'm guess if I simply remove these; coolant will be pumped out everywhere? Also, one of the main reasons I've removed the plenum was to replace the knock sensor. I understood I could get at it by just removing the plenum, as long as the EGR was removed, which it is. However, I see no way of getting to the knock sensor without removing the l…

Guys The speedo on my 300zx seems to be malfunctioning and isn't displaying the correct speed e.g on my way to work this morning was showing 140! Now it is showing 180! I knew they were quick back in the day but doing 180 while stood is amazing for any car! Could it be the cluster or a sensor of some sort? Thanks in advance

ok moving on from yesterday i've just had a lucky find and bought some uk clocks, there is quite a considerable difference in mileage though, mine are on 69,000 miles and the one i have bought are up on 200,000. now i've been looking at both sets online and the connector on the odometer/trip counter both look the same, is it possible to fit my odometer from jdm kmh clocks into the uk clocks or would they register mileage wrong? if thats the case could the motor be swapped as i notice it's only screwed on the back of the odometer unit.

I'm going to attempt an injector replacement, it's no.1 injector (by oil filler). Has anyone removed and replaced this without Dremel work? It looks like by removing the throttle cable bracket, that it should be doable.

hi guys got a few instrument gauge bulbs out, from memory are the main lamps that go in the rear t5? as i have to pull the clocks i also want to replace the lower illumination lamps these are a smaller lamp i think that come with the holder, what size are these? i notice there are less than 5 available in the U.S, but it's not worth me paying carriage on just a few lamps. so looking at alternatives which i'm sure must be out there.

Hi does anyone know if the bolt on flange on propshaft just past the centre bearing will interchange between na/ and TT just wondered if the splines were a different size .I need to change bolt pattern to na on front section of propshaft to match up with a swb na rear section .This is on a TT manual slicktop with na diff and subframe beginning to think should have gone 1 piece prop now .thanks

Hi everyone, when i press the clutch pedal there is a creaking, its coming from the gearbox linkage. Does it need a little grease or is it something more serious?

Chaps Hoping you can help/advise. When I turn my side lights on without the key in the ignition, the sidelight come on fine. However, when I turn the ignition on or start the car and then turn the side lights on the n/s headlight comes on as well with the sidelights. When I put the headlights on then the o/s headlight comes on. I initially thought it may be an earth issue but don't think it can be as if it was then the issue would be there all the time regardless of having the key in the ignition. The car has an after market hid kit fitted and I have tried a normal bulb to see if this would solve the issue but the problem is still there. Any help appreciated…

Trying to track down the part number for the starter relay. So far I've got 2523089981 which I think is for the automatic and I believe the two are different. Does anyone know the part number for the manual one by any chance?

Hi Gents, My 300zx has been playing up over the last few weeks. I have tracked it down to an ECU fault, it is quite well documented on twinturbo.net Basically the car will be driving (under any conditions) and it will cut out, CEL light comes on and aux fan comes on, Can't pull any codes as the light is on solid . If I disconnect the ECU and reconnect it the issue goes away for a day or two then comes back. The car had a new loom a few years ago and all the wiring looks to be in good nick apart from wire off the ecu which is held together with one of the blue plastic crimp clips. i have a manual TT and its coming up with error code 54 after looking it up and reading a few forums its for auto transmissions so any1 any ideas why i'm getting this :eek:

so i've had the aircon doctor out today to look at the zed, it turns out my aircon has leaked and is now not working, anyway the guy did a leak test and found the condenser to be the problem, how does the the thing come off? does it come out through the nose cone or is it radiator removal and out that way? the other question as these are only available from the U.S. does anyone have the dimensions of the condenser? as the aircon guy said he could get a matching part cheaper than nissan.

after putting all the pipes back on the car last week, when moving it today its was running weird when u put ur foot on the accelerator it looses power and go down the revs so i checked all the pipes and everything is tight all of them are back on but its still doing the same thing im trying to find my old lappy so i can plug it into the car but in the meantime any1 any ideas ... cheers :dots:

Hello was wondering if someone can help me my fuel pump isn't priming at all. I have put 12v to the pump it works so then tried it at the fuel module that works also got to relay switch in the drivers side kick panel and the relay isn't clicking I have put 12v to this via a power probe tester it clicks and car starts and runs perfectly. I have removed my aftermarket alarm just as a precaution just in case it was the immobolizer still no prime. I'm not good with electrics so any help will be much appreciated thanks to all in advance.
