Hi all After lengthy discussion, there is going to be a meet up at 10:30am on Sunday the 6th of May in Brighton along the seafront strip (take left at the palace pier roundabout (right on the seafront)) and take road right aong seafront). So far it should be quite a good turnout, also is somewhere where we could possibly bring kids etc and let thme go on the pier and stuff whilst we moan and groan over our motors. Be a good idea if possible to get some idea of number of people coming and who so we all know who to wait for etc. Dan

Does ne1 know the exact length of the prop shaft for a 1990 TT 2+2 Auto Jap spec? ....or have a spare shagged one can can be measured? I'm trying to get an ally one made from Powertrain. They think they have the correct measurements but they want me to check to be doubly sure. Makes sense really! Cheers Andy

First of all, thanks to Nico for the tip! Like many of you I've been experiencing strange movement in the rear of the car when going over bumps or even the painted lines on the road. The rear would swing a bit sideways totally unexpected. The culprit in my case was the HICAS rods being worn out at their ball joint. There was excessive play at the joint, so the rear wheel could turn a bit. To check if you've got the same problem, jack up the rear end of the car and try to turn the wheel by hand. If you are able to move the wheel, i.e. feel a play in the linkage, this is the problem. Cheers, Maciej

Ive just had to replace my front tyres because they scrubbed themselves bald on the inside. so i ask the guy to do a 4 wheel laser alignment to stop this happening again and he tells me that he cant do it because the front bumper is to low, so the beam hits the bumper and stops there. I tried to other places and got the same reply. Now I only have a standard bumper and im not lowered. anyone else had this problem and if so how did you sort it out. I don't fancy putting another pair on to soon.

Feedback needed... I've just been on TT.net to drag out some info on Mines ECU's. Some of the Aussie guys have mentioned that you need decent fuel for these ECU's otherwise you run the risk of detonation, and we all know where that can lead...BOOM! Have any of you guys run these ECU's over here in Blightey? If so how have you got on with them and what fuel do you use? Unleaded or Super??? CheerZ Tim ;-)

Transvestites(300z a.k.a. Janine!) & Gentlemen, In response to Devils' recent post on tyres, what do you think are the best tyres? My personal choice would be Michelin Pilot Sports, fantastic grip and lovely tread pattern. What do you think? [-)

Ever since I have had my car (about a year) it has had an annoying bump at about 30mph. Whilst changing the rear brakes last week I found out that the rear tyres had flat spots on(some japanese b*****d has done a nice handbrake skid and worn them out). These tyres were pirelli 02s? I have had to change them and went for goodyear because they were on offer. I advise everyone to never buy goodyears as they do not grip at all. Even worse on the way home today in the rain. Pay abit more and get decent ones.

Now I know I'm going to sound stupid but... ...What's all this about lifting your handbrake 'one' click and it 'stiffining' up your rear suspension? Is it true? Does it work on all Z's? Am I asking a stupid Question? Probably!! But I need to know as I can't sleep at night..... Matty.

all my problems this week seem to be oil related.....i recently changed the oil in my 300 and not really wanting to use mobil 1 because a couple of years ago they got a very bad reputation in motorsport...a freind told me to opt for the new mobil 1 motorsport oil as it was supposed to be better than the normal mobil 1...and slightly thicker....well since putting this oil in the car i am getting a rattle from the engine until the engine is up to temperature...all i want to know is has anyone else used this oil, if so does your engine rattle?.............i am thinking of changing it for valvoline oil pretty soon....expensive engine flush i hear you say..... cheers.....…

Noticed that my tailpipes are pretty black and sooty inside, might my engine be running rich? I'm told that as far as the inside of the pipes are concerned, light grey = running lean, medium/dark grey = normal, and black = rich... does this hold true with the Z? If so, is there much that a novice can do about it, or is it into the garage for me? Thanks guys, Raz

I replaced my front disks about 5 months ago with some nice grooved and drilled ones by Tormoz as the standard ones were crap. They must have warped as they started juddering slightly a couple of months ago under braking. After taking my Z up into the hills for a real thrash on sunday, I got in my car the next morning and now as soon as the brakes warm up they shake like hell. It feels like the wheels are going to come off, anything loose in the car goes flying and I can't hold the wheel tight enough! Aaaargh! What have I done? I heard it is a common problem with these cars but what causes it? If I replace them is it just going to happen again? They cost me £250 wit…

Bells fully functional again, it just needed reprograming under instalation mode. Right; ok our lights we all know are pants, at the weekend someone suggested reducing the distance between the bulb & the lenz itself! As a maglight torch! Hmm, and so to give a light beam rather than a ring semi circle on the road. (brains now doin 20 to the dozen) so I'm willin' to have a go, by milling the plastic ring that holds the ali bulb holder shorter in testing stages to see if there is any improvement. Thus keeping all parts the same But I need a donor light to experiment on pref o/s as this seems to be the worst. So who's got one spare or goin cheap. Or has th…

I know at lot of you would like to be able to search this site so I wrote a little tool that will download your selection of pages from the 300zx.co.uk general forum. Once complete (took around 3 hours for all 1070 pages - np for unmetered users) you can work offline and search to your hearts content. Just open the history explorer bar, hit the search button and enter your keyword. Craig/Nico if you are not happy about this please get in touch and i will remove. Cheers guys, i hope some of you find it useful - i did :-) Click here p.s. only works in MSIE5+, couldn't be arsed with all that extra Netscape coding.

Hi all, I've got a feeling that my Z is not handling as well as it used to. It's a jap spec 90 NA and seems to have more roll when I hit bends these days. It also feels like it's behaving a bit unpredictably when cornering at higher speeds. Is there anything I should check or am I being paranoid? My mate's got a Boxter and he commented that he thought the handling on my Z was crap (and that was before it had got worse), will his Boxter handle better than a Z. Cheers, Andy
