Having been inspired by someone on here who said changing those drippy silicone filled bushes for the Superflex ones was a doddle and achievable on 1 and a half hours, today the sun came out, it went above zero and I went for it. Got one side done in 2 hours. Bitch is gettin the bolt out of the bush cos it wants to go where the intercooler plumbing is maybes an NA can be done quick! The old bush is pretty squidgy - anybody got drippy ones get them fixed now. So got the bolt out by pulling the arm at an angle allowed by said wobbly bush. After trying the vice to force (Muller was the term used previously)the new one in and having it pop out all the time - dont you j…

Can't get an email through to you on the address shown on your profile. Tried your hotmail address as well (as per the MSN thread) but not sure if you use that. If none of these get through, would you mind dropping me a line at dave@davehairs.freeserve.co.uk please. I want to take you up on an offer you made a short while ago ... Cheers Dave

There is a squeeking noise coming from one of my wheels of my car. I think its only happening when I am turning slightly. It sounds very much like when you squeeze one of those squeeky toys slightly. Its not like long squeek, its like bouncing on a bed. Any one any idea what it is? Stuart

One for the I.T guys. I have just got hold of a 128 mb compact flash card for my Kodak 3400, it was previously used in a canon camera (not sure which type). I can read and write to it with the usb reader but my camera cannot access it and just powers down. I have tried formatting it but with no success. I suspect that the Canon and Kodak cf formats are incompatible. Is there any way to completely trash everything on the card including all partition info and formatting as the manual for my camera says it will automatically reformat a new blank card. The other problem is that since I can only access the card via the usb reader I cannot use any dos apps. Thanks. …

i posted a few weeks ago that my hicas light was on and that you could start the car with wheels in the center and turn the wheel all the way right with out the licht coming on but if you turnes the wheel to the left you could only turn it a 1/4 of a turn then the light came on and it would not go into diag mode today i started up light came on then i stalled it (ups) started the car up again and light didnt come on for 2 min and now it is opersit you can turn the wheel al the way to the left and it will stay off but you turn it 1/4 of aturn to the right and the light will come on do you think that it could be air that has got in to the system or a faulty component t…

Secondly my sister reversed into the front of my Z today I have a Scarab front on SWB jap spec which is now badly smashed, also one of the front fogs is broken. Sis has said I can claim on her insurance so what I need to know is :- Will I be able to claim for a new 99 OEM front bumper http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/ubbforum/Forum1/HTML/004588.html as I prefer the look and the Scarab is a pain in the arse for speed humps, or will the insurance insist on a like for like replacement? If insurance agree will Nissan automatically choose the n…

Hi folks, I need to neutralise some battery acid that spewed out of my battery due to an over reactive regulator. The acid has hit the inner body work of the car and has started to dicolour the paintwork ie, its eating it. I've been told that I need to mix a paste of Baking soda and water and put on the affected areas and then rinse off with water. Where can I get baking soda from? Is it the same as Bicarbonate of Soda? Thanks.

Can the ignition timing be checked static or must a timing light be used? I've never heard any pinking or pre ignition on mine even with the cheapest 95 octane supermarket fuel. Made me think it was maybe set up well retarded. Also notice a hesitation on 2nd to 3rd (auto)when cold. The autobox sends a retard ignition timing signal to the ecu at the change point to damp the change and it seems to me that the hesitation could be due to retarding an already retarded ignition even further. Dont notice any hesitation when warmed up.

And, while we're at it, another problem with me lights on me Jap spec... Have just installed new lamps for the dipped beam, following the instructions to convert a UK Halfords 453 to fit the Jap connector... everything fine, works a treat!!! Trouble is, ever since I've had the car, and not just with these new lamps, I seem to have a 'condensation' problem with the dipped beams. After the lights have been on for just a few minutes, I get a sort of condensation on the INSIDE of the main headlamp lens (like the sort of thing you get if you breath on a piece of glass) and it's really annoying me!! Not only must it be reducing effectiveness, but it looks arse!!! …

Just in the process of sorting out the lights around my Jap spec TT.... Successfully done the DIY bit for the dipped beam lamps, but now I have a problem with the 'sidelights'. The supposed sidelights on the front of the car (the UK manual I have referes to them as 'clearance' lights) seemingly have the wrong bulbs in - one is brighter than the other. So I want to get in a change the lamps. Trouble is, I can't!!! The (UK) manual says there should be two screws on the lens, one either side. Trouble is, there's only one screw (positioned on the outer side of the lens) that just seems to turn and turn without releasing. There also seems to be 2x 1cm separate pieces of …

I'm sure you guys and gals have had this at one time or another and I'm sure that you enjoy it but I was wondering how you felt about there being a dedicated technical library of known faults and remedies. Obviously it would not solve all problems that arise but it would give passers-by, new comers and forgetful bastards like myself from harassing people about the same boring issue. I know this means shed loads of work for the administrator boys and at this point they are probably thinking(FFS), but there have been times when the same question has come up in the forum multiple times in the past 3 months that I know of, and I'm relatively new to the site. If you …
