Hey guys, I'm stripping my spare engine at the mo, but........ I knew it was a bit trick etc etc, but no one seemed to know anything about the internals, so as i was stripping it, i got to the pistons and they have an M.M.R. stamp/logo in them. I have never heard of this brand before and i have searched the whole web via Google etc and cant 'really' find anything on the company. If it helps they are 89mm (stock is 87.5mm) Thanks for any help in advance Rich

Hi, started zed this evening so i can let it run for a bit as i havn't drivin it for couple months started fine while it was running for approx 20mins all of sudden it started missfiring and cut out, so i restarted it but it was very hesitant to fire up and cut out again so i checked coilpacks, injecters, ptu made sure they were pushed in and tryed starting car again and now it turns over but wont fire up, i did notice i couldn't hear fuel pump buzz which you normally do when ignition is on all help/advice appreciated.

hi guys, i have had my zed for 6 months now and love it! i have a couple of problems though and need some help. my car is a 1992 uk twin turbo. it is standard apart from apexi intake and blueflame catback. did an oil change 2500 miles ago (4 months ago) with castrol 10w-60. I'm due another change soon, is there anything you guys suggest I change? i have already done an ecu check and get the OK (code 55) firstly, the idle is a bit rough regardless of if its hot or cold, but the spark plugs have never been changed (car has done 40,500 miles): is a spark plug change likely to fix this? secondly, more recently on a cold start after not using the c…

Hi Guys, Reading up on some of the new pads just released from EBC. Their Yellow Stuff "R" is now out and supposed to give excellent cold response as well as under high temps, previously i thought these were just meant fro track use. I believe they have also improved the red stuff pads. http://www.ebcbrakes.com/Automotive.html Has anyone fitted these pads? I have the black stuff, but looking for a bit more bite without killing the discs...what do you think? Cheers, Dan.

Just had my back wheel off to sort out some dodgy wheel studs and I couldn't fail to notice that theres quite a lot of surface rust on the suspension arms etc. (yes its a UK car!). I can use a wire brush or one of those drill mounted jobbys to clean everything up but I was wondering what paint to use to 'dress' all the bare metal afterwards. Would Hammerite do or is there something better I can use? Obviously, it needs to be corrosion resistant and preferably brush applied. Cheers, Gareth

Ok, so I have a few days off, it's not raining and the roads are free from salt/grit. Took the zed out for a spin. For the first, maybe 1/2 a mile, the gearbox sounded like it was totally shot, but suddenly it cleared up. Now, it does crunch in second when it's cold, other than that, it's a nice gearchange. Does it sound like it needs some replacement oil?

Ok as some know, the purple beast is in the middle of a service, and some extra bits and pieces. basically the car at the mo has rad out, aircon been removed, and most other parts removed to get to timing belt etc etc... Now..... Had battery disconnected and out of car, but popped it back in while testin new stereo, then took it out again. Then next thing i noticed is that there's oil all over the floor  So my question is what squirts oil and from where, when the ignition is on?? (not fully turned on, but one click from firing the car up) I thought oil was just moved around when engine was started, but i never turned her over Confused …

Just want to ask everyones opinion on blow off valves for the zed. I had an Apexi one on my MR2 turbo which, though it sounded good, did seem to have a negative effect in the sense that it seemed to be trying to dump boost when you were simply cruising without much in the way of throttle usage from myself. Basically I could hear it trying to "dump" and I could feel a stutter as it did so. In the end, having tried several different levels of tightness on the adjuster bolt, I dumped the dump valve! My question to you lot is, have any of you that have one fitted noticed this effect on your car or was it just an MR2 thing or perhaps an Apexi thing? Which one would you re…

Forgot to post this and I've just remebered about it. Several weeks ago I replaced the shocks and springs all round and had to take the boot area panels out. I found quite a large puddle between the rear wing and the wheel arch (passenger side). It was almost directly below the petrol filler. Could it be leaking in from there an would it be easy (probably not) to find and seal ? CheerZ Paul
