Anyone Know What Engine Oil I Should Put In My Non Turbo Z??

OK, another problem . . . well i think it is. I put water into the window washers tank (like about 2litres) and then when trying to use it there's just nothing, i take it the water is falling out the bottom or something?? FFS :headvswal

Looking at getting a Momo Combat gear knob to match my MOMO 'Race' steering wheel. Do these things screw straight on or do I have to mod the lever?

Are these J-spec factory HID lights per chance?

Hi, now ive got the looks sorted, im wantin to get a few more horses under the bonnet, ive got already exhaust,filter, dump valves and iridium plugs, ive a budget of about £600 for now. im wanting to up the boost but what do you guys sugest and what bhp should expect to be getting. sugestions much apreciated Cheers Si

went to take the z to work this morning and she would not start .. alarm off imobiliser off all lights came up on dash okay but all i got was a nasty repeating clunking sound as i turned the ignition over .. is it a dead battery ? or am i maybe looking at something more sinister .. any bright ideas what to look at first .. :confused:

hi there, got a water leak on passengers side foot well. it is leaking on to the floor mat,are the heater hoses in this area and it is coolant as the rad needs topping up, is this a crap job or is it not too bad, any suggestions on this one please, cheers woody

White 300ZX interchange retail park Bedford today at around 3.30-4pm. Unusual spoiler on the back and stickers (names) down the front of the door.

Bought a fog light switch to replace my old one but..... The old one has three terminals earth feed to relay and feed to lights.... The new switch has also three terminals but these are "common" "N/C" and "N/O"??? Any ideads which of these three relate to the old terminals???? Thanks

Tried to take my perspex rear panel off earlier as I wanted to see if the high level brake assemlby is actually bonded to the back of this thing as I can't work out why these rear panels retail at £30 and £80 for what is seemingly the same thing but with a little clear bit in the middle. I want to replace anyway with a black item. Anyway I undid the two bolts at either end of the tailgate, then took the trim away, and undid the centre 2 bolts which look like they hold the light unit in place. Couldn't see any other bolts to undo. So tried to lightly prise the panel away from the tailgate. SNAP! and the result is as you see below. So could anyone answer the …

Team, The diagnosis of my Zeds death continues. Spoke with a very very knowledgable guy who knows zeds better than most and I am posting this thought because he does not really want to say it in open forum. My HKS ALC :rant: almost certainly accelerated the demise of my autobox. Whilst fitting it did crispen up the shift, it maintains line pressure in the box often when not needed and therefore puts the box under additional stresses that an already 13 year old autobox does not need. When designing the car the team found the best box they could to handle the stock power and then they struggled so it is no wonder all these old boxes are going bang. My advice is fact…

recently noticed an annoying 'loose bit of plastic rattling' sound coming from somewhere behind the centre vents. windscreen demister works fine but when i press AUTO to blow air into the cabin, i can hear it blowing but no air comes out the vents. has an air director thingy come loose? i could just undo the screws but id have to pull up and reseat my apexi thingamijigs!

my front windscreen wipers failed this morning, I can hear the motor going but the wipers are very loose( no resistance). Has anyone got any ideas what is wrong? thks Lee

Ok, time to do a bit of work on my red Zed. Im going to remove the rad and clean out the water system. And also remove the thermostat (I think its faulty), where do I start.... and what else should I do whilst the rad is out?? Thanks, Kersh.

For my new H.I.D headlights to be set up by the machine so they are facing the right way etc, anyway to cut a long story short the bright spots where out so I said that even though they where the right bulbs that I was not happy with the way they were seating in the light units, and there was a lot of movement because the new H3 bulbs have a plastic flange, unlike my old bulbs that where metal. So what I am basically asking is there any fabricators out there that could knock me up two aluminium or brass seats that i can place in my light units to allow these new bulbs to fit tighter. Many Thanks in advance.

Finally decided to step up my search for a zed, I’m smitten by Matts (Sgt C) SWB manual. Now at 10k its above my budget but I could stretch a bit. Question I suppose is if anything where to go massively wrong engine/gearbox ect I’d be struggling to get it fixed, what are the likely costs of engine / turbo rebuilds ect. Given that buying Matts car would wipe me out financially for a while am I being daft. i.e. should I be buying a cheaper car so I have some repair funds available just incase.

I am aware of the fact that the oil topic has been discussed extensively in the past. However, I would like add some data coming through my personal experience (I am just a 300zx owner and not a mechanic with extensive technical knowledge). Last thing I want to do is to start a debate again. Story: 10-15 degrees (Celcius) reduction in oil temperature by changing oil. Went from Castrol RS 10w-60 to Morris Multilife competition 10w-50 fully synthetic. Weather conditions and style of driving were the same. P.S. The engine has done 8000 miles after an engine rebuild (still using the old tubs and no forged parts). Boost is set at 1.0 bar.

My engine sounds like there are a bunch of circus monkeys under my bonnet with little symbols! :rofl: Sounds like noisy cams or something, can anything be done about it or am i stuck with it? it not loosing performance but sound a bit pants!

Hi, can anyone recommend a good antifreeze, or are they all the same.also i will be fitting a koyo rad how much antifreeze should i put in, stock rad took approx 4 litres thanx.
