Right, I've just been offered a cheap set of freshly powdercoated Evo Brembo front and rear calipers, the problem is they were totally stripped down for powdercoating and now have no internals, pistons etc. Are they hard to replace?? are they expensive to replace?? Is it worth my while?? Thanks Richie

As many know, tyre companies don't really standardise on tread width and profile. I'm finding it REALLY difficult to get tyres to fit my wheels that have zero stretch on them or a bulge. I can't stand stretched tyres and don't want this look at all! When my wheels came over from Japan, they had 275 30 19 on the rear 10" wheel and 245 35 19 on the front 9" wheel. Now the law of tyre fitting suggests that a 10" wheel should take between a 275 and 285. But since my rear wheel had what looked like a lot of stretch on it, I thought I'd try a 295 to see how close that was. Well, that was a little too big, but only just and I've gone for some 285 30 19 which are on the…

Hi guys I can't find it now, but I remember seeing a zx with an illuminated 300ZX logo and cupholder where the ashtray is in the centre console. Anyone know where to buy these? Or was it likely to be a one-off piece? Cheers :)

Normally my car performs perfectly in the warm weather. Never misses a beat and the viscous fan works as it should. Temperature gauge sits at just under half way and ticks over at 750rpm However, after a short casual trip yesturday, I pulled on to my drive and heard the auxillary fan cut in. Never done this before, so came as a supprise. Should I be concerned? or is this a natural occurance due to the exceptional weather? It seemed to be working in relationship to the climate control, but I am unsure as to ecxactly how this is supposed to work if I was honest. Any advice greatly appreciated as I am reluctant to drive it.

So, after all the increased visibility and better aesthetics associated with HIDs, I've finally discovered a drawback to them: When one of your bulbs blows, you can't just go to Halfords and buy another one! Well.... you can... but they want £60 for a single bulb!! eBay it is then!

Due to the "hottest July day on record", been keeping an eye on the temp via my ECUTalk. Noticed that at 102, the OEM needle was still slightly down but at 104, slightly up. I still can't find the exact page in the manual, but had done before so here's the posts with the exact temps http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?178663-Why-an-over-heating-zed-can-catch-you-out&p=1839163&viewfull=1#post1839163 Today, was doing a long journey at 70mph (honest officer, mostly) and noticed that the aircon seemed to add a couple or 3 degrees to the actual temp. So when it hit 104, I turned the (freshly filled R134a) aircon off and waited until the temp went d…

Hi guys This morning there were two tiny spots of possibly oil on the garage floor. About to leave work just now I found a big puddle about 10cm across underneath! The puddle was under the passenger side rear of the engine, and oddly it looked like an oil/water emulsion, whereas the oil on my dipstick and filler cap is beautifully clean. This was orangey and too thick. Having no way to get underneath I stuck the phone under the car and took these pics. As you can see it's all over the steering gaiter but I can't see any anywhere else. Any thoughts about where it's coming from? Still reading full on the dipstick and I don't think it's PAS fl…

Hi Folks I would like to throw this one out for your thoughts please. A few weeks ago I bought 2 Zeds, the one I bought for parts is the one I want to ask about. As follows JDM LWB TT auto, some damage due to failed theft attempt. Imported with 70,000 km in 2003 run for 7000 km then put away in a garage. Pretty much no rust anywhere. After market gauges had been removed and a birds nest left. Had immobiliser and toad alarm, but I had no fobs. Went to a very clever friend of mine and his garage yesterday it now starts and runs beautifully. Gearbox slips under load, but is having oil change today so maybe fine. Adam reckons it is spitting distance of an MO…

Hey all, I haven't really been able to do much since posting my supposedly epic build thread, I've been pretty unwell, but I'm on the mend now and ready to crack back on. But, in the bits I have done, I have found more rust than I expected. I've got the usual front/back sill issues, although not incredibly bad it needs sorting, but I also have the usual turret/wing mount rust under the seam sealant. I'm going to repair this using my own fabrications, but what gauge is the steel? Mostly I'll first be doing the turret part, I know the actual turret is a thicker gauge, but I just need to know the gauge of the rest, basically the wheel arch etc. Then, hopefull…

Hi all , Hope every ones had a great day , been a while since I have been on here due to working away from home. My car has been in daily use, and apart from the front seats the car is almost finished to how I want it. The engine has been running well up to about 2 days ago. starting from cold its all lumpy and almost stalls, after about 5 minutes its like normal. I have checked the TPS with a multimeter that seems fine, ive not pulled any codes as yet.. could it be anything else which I could check myself? I do know the coil pack connectors are brittle and loose which may not help so if anyone knows where I can buy new from in the UK or even on herte may…

i'm looking at converting the zed to electric cooling fan rather than the viscous unit, i've found a package for around £80, it includes a 38mm top hose adpator with the temp controller in, and a 14" fan (i have the upgraded alloy rad) the kit however only does 2 temp ranges so not sure if either are suitable for the zed it run either at 87 degs on 83 degs off or 92 degs on and 87 degs off would either of the ranges suit the zed? other issue relates to the seat belt series 1 j-spec type when driving i notice the belt is going loose, it's not on the top mount causing this, if i tug on the belt twice just above where is come out of the door card it pulls tight again, w…

So think I just bagged myself a bargain buy : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251978649888 Made an offer of £150 for a buy now and it got accepted. I did notice that the ebayer was in the US and that the box was I Japanese but I thought what the hell. Ordered mid day yesterday and it showed up today so he must have a UK dispatch. Looks genuine to me apart from the manual and box being in Japanese but hey so was my zed. :)

I wondered if anyone has any suggestions. Car sitting in the garage (and has been for some time) and they're not sure where to go next. We going on a rolling road this week to see if we can identify the fault. When car is driven it won't rev above 3000rpm in all gears so pulling away is a nightmare. You can rev in like mad when in neutral. I replaced all the injectors and the car was working fine. I have changed the entire engine wiring loom so all the connectors actually connect. 3 of the 6 coil packs have been replaced with new I have a new MAF so it's not that Just before the problem started I was driving throttling down and something wen…

:angry: So, as we all know, the perspex strip on the boot is very fragile, so much so that I said i'd speak to my local Nissan Dealer about ordering one in for me, I figured if it was €20-€30 more than from the UK it would be worth getting it to avoid getting a box of shards. They quoted me €650!!! but they said that they'd give me a 12% discount if I bought all my parts for the Z from them:cursing: Yeah!! Like that's gonna happen!! I was going to go the route of Perspex strip with a 99 spec rear spoiler as the Twinz stuff is so hard to get hold of at a reasonable shipping price, F*CK THAT! It would actually work out nearly cheaper to fly down to Peru and pic…
