Hi, i am a new member with a 1993 uk-spec 300zx Twin Turbo automatic, off the road for the last 9 years or more, only 45000 miles, i've spent the last six months with friends mechanically restoring her, as all the rubber parts were perished, even the seals in the water pump, i've replaced almost everything, water pump, cam belt, all belts, full service, etc etc, bushes, new disks & pads, new tyres on original wheels, full Mongoose Stainless exhaust (four tailpipe), kept everything original, but she is running lean because of the performance air-filter & exhaust, need to re-map/chip the ECU, need help & advice on the best specialist to see in my area, i had a 3…

just a quick bit of help with this one as i have only just found this in the car after 5 years of ownership, basically i have a hks sld box with a short cable fitted and a plug on the end, i found it in the passenger side footwell whilst i was running a wire through, never seen it before even with passenger footwell carpets up before, so my question where would this usually be plumbed into the wiring?

Anyone think a zed would go up these or would it be a case of building up with blocks of wood? http://www.halfords.com/motoring-travel/tools-diy/trolley-jacks-axle-stands/halfords-car-ramps-pair

hi all I have 300zx tt 93 , recently i faced an issue with mine 1_ sometimes while driving and shifting smoothly the engine will stop running but if am shifting fastly it won't stop running i believe cause the rpm still more than 1200 rpm and its happens also while stopping for traffic lights and similar situations. 2_ i have speed cut after 2500 rpm once pushing on gas fastly , but if am pushing slowly it will go more than 2500 rpm but slow. any body knows what the issue am facing ?? note : i noticed that i don't have fuel filter in my car. Thank you all in advance

Hey all, took my car out for a blast a couple of days ago, all fine and dandy till I parked her up at the pub for 40 mins. When leaving I started her up and she she sounded like she was only firing on five cylinders?..... She sounded like a Scooby! This continued and didn't clear for about 5 miles then all of a sudden it did clear she was running as normal again. Any thoughts on what may have caused this? Cheers James

Ok I finally decided to grab myself a Z car cover, being a detailing freak and always looking out to keep the Z shining with detailing proudcts, wax..I really need to be extreme careful about wich one I grab, car mostly can stay indoor garage for 4 months sometimes, so I barely use it...this said, I don´t want to spend a fortune on a expensive fancy car cover so..my question is, what do you guys think about Halford´s car covers? been looking at their page and not so expensive; and what size is the one that fits our Z? large? medium? XL? any other suggestions would be appreciated! nite folks

Hey all after enjoying the weather for the past few day I figured I'd fix the issues with the drivers door after the hit and run. Window wouldnt go down and door wouldn't open from the outside. Both have now been fixed yay! however the door wont close properly now. Its as if someone has been pulling the top part outwards. There is a noticeable gap between the door glass and the tagra rubber when shut. Ive tried to adjust both the stopper/striker/latches top part on door and body and even tried to adjust the latch but nothing. I stripped the door card and removed the seat belt completely to get my hand in the little gaps Any ideas? I have a replacement d…

So I've just had news today that I need to replace all the valves in my heads due to excessive wear, so I'm now looking at the aftermarket options that are available. While I'm sure others exist, the two most popular options are SuperTech 0.5mm oversize and Ferrea 1mm oversize. Between the two I'm currently unsure which direction to take. Initial thoughts are to go for the bigger Ferrea's as they will obviously allow more air into each compression cycle. However, some basic research has revealed that going bigger also moves the power band further up the Rev range (which is something I'm not particularly keen in doing). Is my research correct (not specifically 300zx r…

Looking at their site today I saw some nice toys for sale. Damaged Greddy Exhaust has a dent but its on the top so wont be seen plus some welding splatter on it but again it will be hard to see when fitted. Good news is that its for a SWB. http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?products_id=8450 TwinZ rear diffuser with a crack that could be fixed. For LWB http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?products_id=8477 Nice mats including boot mat but not sure they would fit a RHD car http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?products_id=6926

Hi, I've been chatting to tomomontana about my 1990 300 TT. It's his opinion and now mine, that I may have a boost leak somewhere in the system.. I've been trying to locate a good diagram showing the complete system and locations of hoses so I can check them for leaks one by one until I find them all if they actually are there. Does anyone have such a diagram or have any idea of the best places to check first, ie the most likely candidates to split or become loose? I'm still very afraid of what's under the bonnet of these cars, dark forces are at work under here with many gremlins ready to drag unsuspecting owners in never to be seen again.. Well ok, maybe…

I know there are the usual key and barrel, kill switches etc. but I was thinking maybe try something different instead of key or a button. What about a card. Like when you enter a hotel room. Surly there must be a way of wiring it up. Or combining a card and a start button. Curious to find out what people have done. I know there are also apps, to start your car from your smart phone. Doesn't really impress me. Still like to have something phisicall other then an app. Any ideas no matter how crazy let's have em....

After more investigation I have noticed a ticking at the rear of the engine at the top. I now suspect I may have a problem with one of the lifters. If this is the case how much of a pain in the rear is it to do? If I do it I would like to clean up some of the wiring and pipes at same time, is there anything about best way of doing this on the site? Thanks in advance for any info

Well, I've been to the Powdercoaters and I've been informed that I've to strip it back, he told me to remove all plastic and piping but I could leave all the brackets and metal pipework?? At present I'm in the middle of removing the throttle bodies, is there anything I should watch out for??

Right, I've just been offered a cheap set of freshly powdercoated Evo Brembo front and rear calipers, the problem is they were totally stripped down for powdercoating and now have no internals, pistons etc. Are they hard to replace?? are they expensive to replace?? Is it worth my while?? Thanks Richie

As many know, tyre companies don't really standardise on tread width and profile. I'm finding it REALLY difficult to get tyres to fit my wheels that have zero stretch on them or a bulge. I can't stand stretched tyres and don't want this look at all! When my wheels came over from Japan, they had 275 30 19 on the rear 10" wheel and 245 35 19 on the front 9" wheel. Now the law of tyre fitting suggests that a 10" wheel should take between a 275 and 285. But since my rear wheel had what looked like a lot of stretch on it, I thought I'd try a 295 to see how close that was. Well, that was a little too big, but only just and I've gone for some 285 30 19 which are on the…

Hi guys I can't find it now, but I remember seeing a zx with an illuminated 300ZX logo and cupholder where the ashtray is in the centre console. Anyone know where to buy these? Or was it likely to be a one-off piece? Cheers :)
