General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Going to check that plugs are actually getting wet today but last night noticed that when the throttle peddle is pressed there is a buzzing sound from the back of the engine half way down any ideas if this is the problem and what is it? when you let the peddle off it goes and when you fully depress the peddle it goes!!! It sounds wrong and not a pump buzz im starting to think this is the problem any ideas!!! Any advice appreciated Thanks Jay :cry:

This is my second Z and on both thr axle has been offset to one side by about 15mm. Is this normal and if so, why is it like that? Can I put a spcer on one wheel to even it out or is that a bad idea? Andy

I am removing gubbings to remove the headlamps to give them a clean prior to fitting a HID kit. Following the handy guide on these forums. But i cant remove the frickin standard air filter. I see it has some mounts on the left and right sides that go under a metal brace. But i nay know how to unfit them or whatever. Help plz

Hi, Got an electrical fault - need some help on. Lost aircon & aircon display, wipers & clock. Its not the fuses & checked aircon relay. Checked connectors behind switch panel on left hand pod. I have had it go before - messed around in the engine bay & somehow got it working again (but not sure what it was i did & cannot seem to replicate fix this time) So suspect it is a loose connection or shorting out etc.. Anyone know what else i can try or where to look or narrow it down.. Aircon fuse in engine bay has no power to it when i put a multimeter on it (with aircon switched on).. Any ideas? Just got my zed back yesterday after a manual converstion been really looking forward to driving it again i have not driven it since october and looks like i wont be driving again intill i can arrange something with john dixton it seems to have two modes now foot flat to the floor and go go go or attempt to cruise and judder bang misfire the alarm has stopped working and sets its self while driving the door lock has decided it does not want to fire and the door popper no longer wants to work :( totally sick of this car anyone wanna swap for a rex or poopra :cry:

fear the worse now guys,started the zed up seemed fine then slowly increased the throttle frm under the bonnet and it was knockin big time,u could really feel it threw the plenum,increased throttle and it went:confused: ,stated her again yesterday and she is fine but she still sounds big endy wen u rev it up,i change the oil every 3 months as lucky if i do 3000 miles a year,oil pressure is fine,on tickover and driving,i dont thrash her frm cold and she cools down on a 3 min timer,gutted or what,gather big end shells to do as well as the tubs now,maybe the oil pump as well,any ideas welcome,bak to bed now to hav a good cry lol

Ok i got a set of mint T28's of a r33 GTR and i have a pair of Hybrid t25/28 turbos..which do you think would be the better to install ??? whats the pros and cons of each ?

Hi everybody, been driving this car for 2 weeks, i have noticed an occasional steam (sumtimes) coming out from under the bonnet, under the battery. today it steamed alot. Is this time for a heater matrix job, or a pipe which is broke. i dont have a clue any suggestions would be very helpfull as the heaters blow warm and it never over heats..... Ive noticed that most decat pipes are 2 and half inch .Is there any gain in having 3" ones made up or does anyone sell them.Also can you get jap made decat pipes for the zed all ive ever seen are phnw and megan racing de cats for sale. thanks :cool:

Just wanted to introduce myself. Got a 90 j spec tt about 6 months ago for the huge sum of £1000, needs some work but nothing major except the head gasket. I'm planning on doing all the work myself with the help of you people (if you don't mind), my mechanic mate and as much money as i can save. My accelerator pedal will stick in the up position when driving (it's an auto). I have to push down quite hard and then it goes straight into power mode! Staerting to get a little annoying now1 Does anyone know what the cause is and how to fix it? Andy

I was just wondering what all your opinions on Alloys were. Which are the good brands and which ones to avoid. Ours may look good from far but close up, they not that great and they seem to chip really easily, they are BK racing. We had AEZ ones on our little Astra we had a while back and i thought they were nasty but compared to the BK racing ones they're good. Maybe i just got some from a shite batch?????

I am probably now going to do up the SWB blue TT manual slicktop that I bought a few days ago. It had minor accident damage, but it drives lovely. Hi have a 91 ZX TT that wont start, changed the plugs to NGK platinum all coil packs fire the plugs when out the engine, changed PTU with another secondhand one, cam belts ok fuel pump appears to be working and smells as if its working??? Please help. Thanks Jay :cry:

the rears on mine are only 245/40/18 :cry: and from looking on here i should be really going for 265/35/18. the prob with this is that i don't know if they'll fit! the rears are 18x9 but the tyres are close the arch as it stands as its lowered on tein coilovers. :dance: the question really has to be should i slightly raise the car (although i think it looks perfect how it sits at the moment), or should i just leave the tyres as is? i've tried to post pics of the rear tyre/arch but the pics i have are too big but you can see pics in my 'rides' section. ;)

Got a few projects to get on with with my week off work (just hope I'm not bunged up with cold still ) Got to strip the old Sony head unit and CD Multichanger out. Take the dash clocks and side pods out, and generally remove loads of interior panels (again :rolleyes: ) All so that I can fit.... A new head unit.... Along with, as a few guessed correctly, a rear view camera... Install my new white clock set... And fit a load of new LED's :D It should be an interesting week for me ;) Oooooopppssss!
