For the compression test do i do it with a cold engine, do i disconect the injectors before starting, and if so how do i do that?. which other check can i do if any. It's manual if that make a diff not sure if theres a check for man gear box like you can do on the auto. thanks graeme

Are there any guides on rebuilding a Z TT engine or even rebuilding tubs im considering pulling the engine and taking my time to do things myself as a bit of a hobby and learn as I go along. One of my tubs has packed in and im of the mind to just do a good DIY job over a long time and if that does not work out I can always get another engine, im in no rush. Just taking it to bits would be fun and help me understand things a lot better. I just want to see whats out there to guide me for the moment though there must be quite a few guides, I would just like to be pointed into the direction of the better ones though. I do remember there was a great guide with pics of a turb…

As above really? As I've stated before the real effect can only be achieved through replacing BOTH the valves AND the hoses, so please only post if this was the case. If you vote can you please state the symptoms before and after (after 200 miles have been covered) so we can try and build up some kind of idea on what can and can't be cured by replacing the PCV system. Please NO posts about catch cans or how shit the PCV system is. OR any posts about smoking tobacco/drugs etc ;) Cheers, Andy

Need some advice.. I bought a cf dash kit from another member who said it had never been fitted. for 35 quid when i received it the only pieces in the kit are 2 pieces for each window switch, 1 piece for centre console above the radio vents etc(this was the wrong shape as the clock cut out was on the wrong side) 2 smaller strips for the console also, a piece for the ashtray lid and piece for the surround back to the lift up compartment between the seats. That was it! Is this all the kits comprise of? or are there other kits that do the rest? cos tbh it looks odd with some of it done and some not. Also was 35 a gd price for 7 pieces of …

Ok peeps, Manwell box sorted, poss clutch & flywheel as well. plus adjustable upper & lower arms, adjustable coilovers, steering rack & conzult....maybe a few other bits I've forgotten.....BUT While I'm in the middle of doing the manwell convo are there any other seals, bearings or bits that I ought to take care of while I'm down under ;) I think I'm gonna take plenty of pics of this job, theres hardly any decent info on actually doing the job, so maybe I'll do a decent document etc for it. Also do I need clutch booster? after a few chats with folks it seems as tho I wont really need it....more advice please, cheers. Fanx Marc

After the whole crap brake caliper incident i then found i needed new rear brake pads thought that'd be it. Took it to zworx for a check up and see why it was pulling slightly to the left and the inner side of the tyres were worn. Micky's found the reason why: Tie rods, suspension arms and bushes need replacing on the front and the hicas is faulty and steering permanently left on the back hence i went through a set of rear tyres in under 8 weeks :( *****cks, looking at the far side of 500 quid to sort that all out now :headvswal

going to have to have this done within a few weeks. i have been looking about and have been told that the best local garage for laser alignment charges £25 per adjustment!!! potentially thats 4 adjustments for the front alone! i haven't had a problem with the rear tyres etc but the front are scrubbing out the inside edge. my tension rods are shot so i have adjustable ones to go on. also getting upper links in a week. i can adjust the upper links myself to within the stock spec upper arms (caliper them and adjust the new ones to same figure is this acceptable?) but how can i get the tension rods close enough to drive on them? loads of questions to distract…

hi all, i currently have a skyline gts, and having seen some really nice 300zeds at a recent joint event, im interested in owning one. so one simple question, when buying a used zed what are the common problems and pits falls i should look for? do they have any water traps and potential rust problems? engine weak points or special service needs? ive spoken to one or tweo forum users on here before so thought id ask? oh and a rough idea of price for good unmolested ones would be an advantage as at present i know very little about these cars

Hi all, this is my first post so be gentle! I've just bought my first 300ZX (k reg), i found her gathering dust at the back of an old guys garden turned out to be his sons. Anyway he told me the gearbox (automatic)was leaking fluid and the the Turbo's need re-conned or renewed, this is not a problem as i was looking for something as a hobby to put back on the road. The car starts first turn of the key but struggled to get it home, had to rev like mad to get any forward motion and i dont think it got out of first, so it was a case of rev and coast. Luckily i only live just down the road otherwise i would have had it recovered. Anyway looking for help and advice on everythi…
