In Greek mythology, a phoenix or phenix (Greek: φοῖνιξ phoinix) is a long-lived bird that is cyclically regenerated or reborn. Associated with the sun, a phoenix obtains new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor. So from the ashes or parts of Purple Rain she will be reborn ! May the new build thread begin.

So today I fitted this strut brace (from Mondo's car) and I just need some advice on where stuff should go. Sorry if they are obvious, I am noob. The first thing is that the throttle linkage (I think) in this picture, I had to unscrew to make space for the mount. The second thing is that on the other off side tower there are lots of cables etc. The thick cable in the picture below stops the bonnet from shutting and is connected to a metal pipe. Once again where and how do I move this please. Final thing is that how tight should I make the bolt which connect s the mount to the bar. I did it tight but not overly tight. Where on the towers I did pretty…

Trying to resolve my "stalling when cold idle" issue. I disconnected the TPS this morning to see if it did anything. No change at all. So is this right, should there be any change? Going to get a multimeter this afternoon so I can check voltage..

  5. Started by B00mer,

I've had a search on here and people have had the same problem. I have tried.... Lifting the lever it doesn't open. Someone holds the lever up while I lift boot lid, it doesn't open. Use the key, (only turns to the right not sure if this is normal) still wont open. When I went to view the car the boot opened. LA Auto's had the boot open. When reading about curing this problem, people have advised removing the trim to the boot. What are my options if I cant open the boot lid at all? Thanks, Tom

  8. unfortunately one of our planned show cars cannot make the classic car show. details of why will be posted later today i am sure. is there anyone with a show ready car able to give up their car for the weekend, at very short notice? we have 3 cars already but had planned and have space for 4 if you are also able to stay with it, then a hotel room is already booked. our stand entry time is 10am, but can probably still get access for an hour or so after, depends how many other stands arrive early. call me on 07885 852047 if you can help.

  11. Started by BedZee Man,

Hi All, I have a fuel smell when the car is started that seems to go when the car warms up. I want to change the fuel lines, can anyone recommend a good mechanic in the Bedfordshire area who may be able to assist me or have details on how I can approach this work. My local garage are not really ZX savvy? Thanks

Was helping our dealer principal sort out one of the companies storage units, and stumbled across 2 large boxes with what appeared to be zed part numbers. After some research turns out they are a pair of brand new SLICKTOP windscreen/ roof mouldings, he thinks they were ordered by mistake, many years ago, as until mine they'd never seen a slicktop It's a real result he said I can have them, which is great as I need them and they are nla from Nissan...

Where can I get these? What sizes etc?

  15. Started by tomomontana,

I know this subject has been covered more times than probably any other but.... What oil should I use. I'm in the process of getting my project UK TT up and running as it has been sitting for 8+ years with no maintenance at all. It starts, runs, drives but the oil hasn't been changed since it was stored, and as such nothing else has been changed either. I want to give it a full service before it gets the cambelt, water pump etc done in the next couple of weeks but just do not know which oil to use. Any suggestions would be greatfully received.

Right ideally I would like to fit 2 new Re circ valves, but seeing as only RHD ones are available from Speciality Z, and I don't fancy fitting 2nd hand ones for obvious reasons. Apart from BOVs, what other options are there?

  17. Started by alicowan,

Hi guys Just stripped the exhaust system from 1991 TT Auto. Some butchers have been at it at some point. The downpipes are welded to the cats. Middle and rear sections are japspeed. I'd like to decat as it's a 1991 and wont affect emissions ruling. My query is which downpipes to get. Should they have entry ports for lamda sensors? I am going to strip out the AIV setup so no issue with that stuff. Looking around, the Japspeed downpipes look good but state they are suitable only for manual. Can anyone recommend a supplier? Don't need the bit that fits on to the turbos, only the 2 pipes to run from the turbo downpipe to the centre section. Help much appreciated or if a…

Hi, I changed the plugs on the my 91 Jap TT today and I seem to have cocked something up. I've been Googling for an hour or so now trying to make a plan for tomorrow and I'd appreciate any input from the veteran owners out there! After swapping the plugs the car ran for a while but seemed to be missing occasionally - nothing too dramatic, but worse than before. Also if I touched the throttle gently the revs would die a little before climbing (car didn't stall). I shut it off and started it a few times with no change. I shut it off and went to start it about 10 minutes later and it wouldn't start at all. Lots and lots of cranking but it didn't catch at all. Plugs…

Well it's popped up again this time on an auction http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-300ZX-Nismo-twin-turbo-manual-550-BHP-/311479989777?hash=item4885a77611:g:~kgAAOSwHnFVslJt All I would say is please go and look at the car before you bid if you are in anyway tempted. Been there seen it and said no. Buyer beware and all that.

What is the better option Turbo setup, looking to make 550 ish fly, I know the 525 blowers drop straight on, the other 2models ive read a little about in here, but with the 600 and 535 what else would I need to make them fit , and do they have more head room for future power gains over the 525, ( will the 525 be maxed out to make 550 at the fly?) Gt525, GT600 or GT 535, Thoughts , Cheers Sayers

Hi guys, I'd like to set up a poll regarding my Blue Z, as the missus is on the mend and there's a few pound gong back into the Z fund, I may be able to get going on the engine replacement. The mechanic reckons that if I'm going to change the shade of blue, that I should get the engine bay done while he's got the engine out. The thing is, it's extra money and as it's a long way off from a respray, should I get the bay done in Satin / Gloss black or should I just keep the car the original blue and forget about a colour change??? Gaz, could you set up a poll to see if people think the Original colour or a Liquid Pearl Blue would be best?? I'm of two minds as I'm goin…

Right long story short I sold my 370z, so now I get to spend some time and money on the 300 :) I'm planning a proper build now, but doing the heads first, so need some help on cams, looking at Jim Wolf tech r5 cams. As I'll be getting bigger turbos down the line. But what do people run? Any recommendations advice?
