This might be a helpfull topic for people who want to build Tomei solid lifters and solid lifter profile cams. I've been working on these for a while and found several problems on the way that made the setup very difficult, and therefore worth explaining. I'm Dutch so please don't mind my spelling:slap: I'll start with some general info on these cams. The Tomei procam solid lifter cams are considered the best for the vg30, ca18 and rb20. This is cause the stock hydraulic valve lifters are replaced by lightweight (about 40% less weight) solid lifters. The weight reduction allows for a faster opening and closing rate and therefore more lift overall over the openin…

Seeing as I'm really not very good on the whole body/paintwork sort of thing, can someone advise me on the preparing and then painting of my standard throttle cable cover, please. How to prepare it, what paint to use (gloss black) and how to paint the Nissan letters a different colour from the rest of the cover ...an idiot's guide really :D Thanks in advance - Andy

lights on this car seems loads more efficient than my other it's a series 2 vs a series 1 if that makes a difference but this one actually lights the road up pretty well. How can I tell if they are HID's ?:bow:

I fitted new speakers last year, but I want something more meaty. Looking at getting some Alpine component speakers. Only question I have is, how much space is there behind the door? The depth of the speakers I am after is 59mm. Will the window clear this when wound down? I am NOT looking to build pods or anything. I want these to be hidden away nice and descretely. http://www.online-caraudio.co.uk/shop/speakers/alpine/alpine-spr-17s-446310.html Also, where do you guys hide their crossovers?

Well sooner than expected I decided to bring the new project home to Lutterworth. Slick Pete gave me a day of his life to help out (thank you buddy, much appreciated!). We started off about 10am and got back to ashby after dropping all the parts off at Lutterworth about 7pm. I've spent today moving everything around and tidying up as well as putting the original wheels back on and setting the panels up. Spacing is a bugger but I think I'm just about there, just the bottom of the panels to drill and bolt up and they're done. I also sorted out all the electrics on the car to get everything working, even the brake lights work now! I've also nicked a few bit…

Took the Zed to my garage ( Tesco`s covered car park ! ) to try to change the front pads but failed at the first hurdle . I couldn`t loosen the large " nut " in the centre of the Rays VolkRacing wheels . Tried a bit of tapping but didn`t wanna damage it . Is there anywhere I can get a tool for this ?

I thought id treat it to new plugs, as looked old sooty and tired, removed plugs inserted new ones, started it and it ran but there were flicking tick tick noises, like the noise you woul hear on a ht lead that was shorting out but no sparks to be seen or anything so iturned it off, i checked as best i could nothing was out of place or wrong, all seemed ok, so started it again and was running on 3 cylinders, and engine sounded weird, then it dropped to 2 cyls i wiggled the wiring loom that supplies the coils and injectors and it went to 3/4 cyls then dropped to maybe one then chucked it and now wont start at all HELP! ive tried another ptu, no good, mines a series 2 anyw…

just did the first oil change since I bought the car in september(not driven it in months been stored in the garage) couldn't find the sump plug at first them i realised it was actually the bolt I though it wasn't as it has a cable attatched to it with my other z hasn't. So I presume this would be an aftermarket sensor for pressure as there are no new dials on it. Anyone else seen these? I've seen the filter sandwhich plate ones but not these.
