I have my old purple painted rocker covers from my previous build which I was planning on doing a transplant onto the new engine. However not wanting to taint the new engine I was thinking of stripping and using the covers that came with the engine. One of the things that came up is to blast them or not as I've been told that the inner baffles can get the sand in them and its hard to get out. The previous zed was done like this but I don't want this new engine busted too. I have the blasting cabinet in my yard and its easy enough to use but should I ? I've could also blast it with soda but that's expensive and can take three times as long. …

Hello. Trying to track down the cure for a rattle type of noise that tends to be when cold and low revs. Cambelt, pulleys done 2 years ago at Eurospec. When I first heard the noise, I thought it was a small exhaust blow but it's not that. Eurospec have stripped the front and had another good look at pulleys, timing belt, tensioners etc and they're fine. They suspect the VVT solenoids or gears. A bit of research leads to this https://z32.wikispaces.com/Variable+Timing+Control#Function-ECU Control-Non-Turbo which seems to point to the gears (if it happens when cold, the solenoids wouldn't need to operate anyway). Has anyone had this issue and if so, what was the cure? …

Ok, here's a question: if I were to sell my Zed, would it be worth more in its present trim, or if I returned it back to standard spec...? By "standard spec," I mean a stock interior, wheels and brakes. The exhaust would be far too much of a chew on to change back, so that would stay on the car. Opinions please...

"It doesn't look too bad at the rear, I'll just replace this repair panel whilst I'm here and the fuel tank is out" More of an informative post but this looks like what can happen when you repair the rear sills without extending/replacing the targa roof drain. These were welded in 2011, and the car has done 1000 miles since then before my purchase as a project. Anyone else experienced this and have any advice? Was thinking of cutting a peep hole into the new metal I use for future purposes, such as with the front sills, thoughts? So I saw this panel, small hole near the subframe supports, cut it off.. Camera inside it: Could rip t…

Hopefully, in the not too distant future, I hope to fit a third brake light to my rear spoiler. I have a 1992 uk lwb twin turbo which came with only a colour coded blank. Will I find the relevant wiring harness within the boot lid that will allow me to connect directly to? Or will I have to splice into the existing harness somewhere?

Ages ago I bought some japspeed decat pipes, Ive only just tried to fit them and found a problem (well I havent, my mechanic has) first of all the pipes look like this: https://www.japspeed.co.uk/nissan-300zx-non-turbo-decat-downpipes.html He says that the section that bends upwards to connect to the engine is all wrong and doesnt fit. Is there a short section of pipe that they connect to before conecting to the manifold? I found this: https://mileoneparts.com/media/images/oe/collision/3/3712805.gif but that doesnt show the manifold bits I found this: http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/z/VSYAAOxydlFSx2iA/$_1.JPG?set_id=880000500F I j…

How sensible are Fibreglass bumpers? I've only ever lived with urethane or metal. Urethane has its obvious advantages, being virtually indestructible, however it's drawback is cost and availability. The reason I'm asking is I'm sorely tempted to fit a replica FG 99 spec. I know someone's going to say buy an OE one but the cost is not something I can justify, remember it's not just bumper it's the indicators, shipping, tax etc etc. Quite a chunk for something 100% cosmetic. Where as I can sort myself out with a fibreglass version for about half. Finding a used 99 is the obvious answer but when the average post for little everyday parts in the wanted section goes unresolve…

As above, do Japspeed track rods fit the hub correctly because I read a post that claimed they didn't, wondering if it was correct or whether they've updated the design because I'm meant to be fitting these with other bits tomorrow and I don't want it to hold me up if they don't! Anyone here fitted them without issues? Cheers Dave

1990 UK spec auto TT Alright so a long time ago I had the subframe/diff off for refurb, removed the diff cooler and pipes (including the area circled in green), blocked them off with bolts, had the diff upside down and drained all the fluid. Fitted it all. Finally got round to filling the diff now with fresh oil. Seen posts saying I'll need upto 2.1L of diff oil for the UK spec model. Now this is where my problem occurs.. The normal drain plug (which is square) was very corroded/stuck, hence draining when it's flipped. I was unaware of a filling plug, assuming it is filled from the upper pipe cycled below with the (temporary) wheel nut in it.. where I…

Hi guys, It's been a long time since I have been on here. I aimed to sell the z back in November to make way for a daily and to buy a place. I will confess however my transaction for a house is almost complete and rather than get rid of the z I have bought a house with a garage. I will try to build the car by doing bits myself and over a period of time. At least now she'll be out of the weather and proper work can go ahead; when money's tight she will no longer be on the drive rotting away. Just a question though are meets happening at all after I left l? Or any guys local to sidcup?

Hi all ! Having a bit of trouble sourcing a pair of the flexible brake hoses for the rear calipers, mine are looking a bit old and cracked, anyone know any details about what thread is used to mate them to the fixed pipe and the caliper, if I know what the thread is in the fitting I can have some made nearby, Thanks again!

Looking to thoroughly clean and re-grease my door glass runners when I refit my glass (with new rollers and caps). Does anyone know the correct grease to use? Is it a PTFE based grease? It looks like Nissan used some form of white grease....a lithium grease?

Well yes folks, you read this right, I am thinking about selling my Z; they say nothing good ever lasts forever...and I never thought I would be writing this but, I am seriously thinking about it. The cause? easy: Want to buy a Audi R8 4.2 FSI, now this is a hard tough desicion and before I think take this step I need to get some points straight..first thing I thought about was; is it really worth selling a clean stunning Z with only 80.000Kms certified by Nissan dealer that barely hits the streets once every 4 months? kept clean detalied always treated like a lil baby in a Temple for; a Audi r8 4.2 FSI with approximately 90.000 KMS or more from year 2008 or 2009 fo…
