As a daily visitor to this site since it started I more or less know all the trends of posting and chatter, this can change depending on the time of year, holidays, dearer times, quiet times etc. but recently it does seem the topics are less responded to, often threads will get over a hundred views but just two or three replies..... I think what we have is a "new trend" now and basically one I am not too keen on, I guess its been self fueled as many click new posts and then leave as there is only a few, many of the tech threads I have done in the past would get great coverage and responses that in turn would create more banter, with a typical tech thread taking upwards o…

Having sold my v8 bmw at the start of the year and now driving a crappy diesel bmw I feel its time to change. So I'm thinking of a vauxhall monaro ls2. I know that fuel economy is crap(not to bad for size of engine) and that they need to be under sealed because of importing from oz. Anybody had any experience of these cars? Know what to look out for?

......how empty were the roads? I made full use of them today!! Anyone else take advantage? I love it when high profile games are on as the roads are dead. I am really looking forward to the world cup, especially when the England matches are on, in fact, I hope England do well; not because I want them to win or anything or indeed am I the least bit interested, but DAMN the roads are going to be deserted!! :)

Help required! My Z is sitting somewhere in Southampton docks! (15th May) Hoegh Antwerp of Hoegh Autoliners AS was the ship & it docked in Southampton on the 15th May. I have the B/L, Commercial Invoice & Japanese Export Certificate. Also have a C 384 (Vessels) is this the right one? All I want to do is pay the Import Duty & VAT (how, where?) Go to the port & transport it home to then get work done for MOT & Register! Any Z member imported without a clearing agent? Any advice appreciated. Art

In the past I’ve had a nightmare trying to fill the gearbox and diff with new oil. This time round I purchased one of these form Opie Oils along with my fluids. Now the image above states that it’s for extracting fluids. For this it’s fantastic and really sucks! However Opie Oils description is as follows: “This great product from laser is designed to make that annoying and frustrating task of filling (or removing) oil / fluids from hard to reach areas in engine bays, motorcycles and machinery a breeze. Cut down on mess and time by simply sucking oil from a container into the pump then using it to precisely fill things like gearboxes…

So I bought a 2000 Corsa (B) 1.2 16v that needs a new head gasket.... For £170 (75k miles not bad condition). Plan is to get my hands dirty and fix it up myself then use as a daily. It's in bits in the garage and I have no idea what I'm doing but I'm plodding along!! Good job I got a pc set-up in here so I can use my friend constantly (google is your friend). Just about to take the cams out but got to remove some sh!te to get to the timing belt and align that first... I think... :scared:

I passed my DAS about 2yrs ago now but have yet to buy my own first bike. I did spent a month riding around Vietnam/Cambodia on a Honda GL160 and borrowed my mate's Honda CBR600 for about 6mths and wuold say after 2mths I was a little bored by it. I'm now considering buying a used bike in time for the summer. It would only be used for pleasure, would be parked outside and more than anything is a way to build up my bike NCD. My question is - what bike would you recommend? I have been looking at the Honda CBR600s but wary of getting borted of it again. There are quite a few older GSXR600s and ZX6s but the internet is mixed on whether either of those would be …

My cousin is in the market for a fast car, he loves my zed but isn't really a RWD man  I dont understand it either  He is thinking about getting a Celica GT4, years ago I had a ride in a tuned one I thought it was amazing but had very little to compare it against at the time. I know they are a 3SGTE engine and I don't think that the 500hp one Noz tuned has gone bang yet so that is a good start. I have read about the suspension joints being a known failure point, but other than that don't know much. I suggested the Celica as I think you will get more for your money compared to shopping for an Evo, Scooby, or GTR. What do people think, good car??…

Recently i bought a truck with a tap on the motor for the right price so i thought ide have a bash at an easy fix and replace the camshaft that had a flat lobe, also removed the front engine cover and replaced the timing chain along with a few other small bits like valve stem seals ect. Built the motor back up and she started first time like a good one BUT still had the tap:confused: Thats all i need for an excuse to get dirty so out comes the motor and tears it down to be greeted with this:eek:...Reason being some knob jocky had used too much jointing compound on the block to mains crank cradle and had blocked up number 2 under crown piston oil squirter and over heated …

Has there been a down turn in cars for sale since the site went to the new classifieds or am I doing something wrong? I know post traffic in general has slowed down here but I am really surprised there is only one car for sale, unless (highly likely:blushing:) I am doing something wrong.

Just a word of precaution really, if you tax a car online make sure you go to the official Govt. website to do it. Normally i go online to RENEW my tax so am aware of the steps, but this time it was a to obtain one for the first time, as such the pages looked familiar, but not.. Seemed to ask the right questions, Even the yes/no ones. I even hit purchase, However something had been bugging me and just before i filled out the 3 letters of my bank accounts code, i noticed in small letters the cost for 6 months, £166. now i thought it was £130 tops, so i searched and searched thinking the budget had put it up, but kept coming up with £126.50. A quick check showed that it was…

...interesting and notable things from the same year; some fun, some cool and some horrible: In 1989 Motorola had just launched their new 'MicroTACH'. An analogue phone priced at around £2,000 each! In 1989, Nintendo also launched their new 'Game Boy'. Nearly 200 people were killed in a horrific plane crash that was captured on video in Sioux City, Iowa when a DC-10 attempted to make an emergency landing after all its flight controls failed. Any seasoned travelers will remember the aged DC-10. I in fact went through a harrowing experience over the Great Lakes in the northern United States when the DC-10 I was flying i…

Whilst we all know that there will no longer be the requirement to display a tax disc from 1/10/14, I have only just read that the road tax does not remain with the vehicle when you sell it.... .....Once you notify DVLA, you get an automatic refund of the unused duty and the new owner then has to re-purchase their own RFL...!! I suppose it does make sense to do it that way:wink:
