Manifold / plenium
Cheers mate, just hope I can remember where it all goes back lol. I'm not of the organised type (diagrams, envelopes for different bolts and parts and shit) I just like getting on and doing it, guess there must have been some hoses still connected underneath, i'll have another look. :duffer:

Is it all in my head?....
my car goes through phases of being fast and then predictable and thus slower. Sometimes when im not expecting it, I floor it and it suprises me like a ****ing rocket, other times when I am expecting it, it seems to be a lot slower, like im waiting for something to happen and it doesn't weird eh? Also, I notice a big difference from air temp etc, some cold days its a weapon, hot days it seems distinctively average lol, temo if air and density etc, weird tho cause never the same when I want it to be, guess it cause im expecting it.

not enough respect for a supercar!!!
p.s the whole ferrari thing was attributed to the twin rear lights and tailgate skin etc.

not enough respect for a supercar!!!
When I got my 300 a year ago, I thought it was the end of all this, after all, I knew what they were and gave them the respect due owning a 200 and all. But, as time goes on you do come across some nob heads dont you?! Generally I must say tailgaters are reduced to a bare minimum in this car, as anyone can see a car with a zorst on either side that is as low as a supercar and as wide as their missus ass, know that it looks like it means business. However, I have had some grating comments in my time, by far the best though is when some nob head, who thinks he's mr cool, told his missus who works with me to say I have "Smoke but no Poke", now to put things into perspective, he doesn't even own a car, his missus owns a 950 fiest popular (old shape) which he was driving her to work in at the time, when i accelerated sideways down the road with all 350bhp and rear wheels smoking, he obviously being the jealous nobish type told her to say that to me and also to say what a boy racer I was because I had two large zorsts on my car (although fully functional!!!!!!). I mean what a jealous twat. And anyway who the **** is he to comment!!! You also get the occasional Mr Cock, now Mr Cock is the preverbial 21st century middle age business man driving a large car with an under powered engine who beleives that he can outrun anything that has four wheels, especialy if it looks moddified as it is clearly a boy racer that has a 1.2 engine in it or something. These are the people who are true cocks, and have no idea what a car even is? they almost fit into the same category as civic type-r and accord type-r owners, or 330 bmw drivers. (the people who 'think' that there 2.0 and 3.0 na's are the fastest on the planet as they live in a box). As you can tell I can get quite bitter, the truth is, because off all of the stupid monkeys that drive novas, corsa's, astra's, escort's, civic's etc etc, and put big exhaust and rims on their stupid puney engined cars, it tars people who own a decent car who make it look a bit special. Then for the likes of Z's etc, they get misinterpreted as boy racer cars, with 'smoke and no poke' (what a ****ing cock sucker he is, i've really got to hit him). Also people look no further than age, the keeping up with mrs jones types who if it is any later than 1 year old is a peice of shit. In all this though, I have had some funny comments. I have had many many more people just come up to me when parking, in a garage etc etc and ask what car it is or comment on how nice it looks/expensive etc etc, which is, really nice. I've had soo many people ask me what it is, and ask if it is a ferrari, even some guy in a highly tuned fiat coupe turbo!! has he not lived! It always makes me smile. I guess along the line, there are genuine honest people who say 'look at that car thats a bit special / nice' then you get the jealous nob heads who will say anything to slate you, you get the mr jones who doesnt see past your number plate, then you get the mr smith types who tars all boy racer-type cars (anything non-standard looking) and thinks they are rice boxes. Love it or hate it, thats what we are all gonna get at some point or another. I say **** IT, i love my car, its fast, fat (as in wide), loud, shit hot, and unusual. I don't really give a **** what anyone else thinks, if they respect it then good if not, then they find out the hard way, or if complete pricks, then I ignore them. Steve

Heat!!!
Been thinking about getting some vents in the bonnet, I get a serious heat haze out of the sides from under the bonnet. Anyone know where is best to put vents in, cause I would have thought anyway you do it your gonna get a shit load of water in the engine bay with the crap weather we have. And not only that, if you fit a drip tray which is a good idea, thats kinda obstructing loads of heat from comming out in the first place, any ideas? me

My turn for det troubles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeh I was a bit pissed when i posted that, (i meant pinging not pinking, as that sounds like something a trannie would do on a weekend lol) any ways JD; lean carburetion can lead to detonation. Uneven combustion in over-lean air/fuel mixtures can escalate pressures and bring about sudden explosive burning. Also, lean mixtures elevate chamber temperatures which, as you now know, can lead to dreaded detonation. Flame front travel for detonation is closer to 19,000 to 25,000 feet per second; the same rate as in dynamite. The difference between normal combustion and detonation is the rate at which the burning takes place and therefore the rate of pressure rise in the chamber. The hammer like blows of detonation literally ring the metal structures of the motor and that is what you hear as pinging. Detonation occurs when the air/fuel mixture ignites before it should. Normal burning has the flame front traveling from the spark plug(s) across the chamber in a predictable way. Peak chamber pressure occurs at about 12 degrees after top dead center and the piston gets pushed down the bore. Sometimes and for various reasons a second flame front starts across the chamber from the original source of ignition. The chamber pressure then rises too rapidly for piston movement to relieve it. The pressure and temperature become so great that all the mixture in the chamber explodes. If the force of that explosion is great enough --- the engine breaks. Pinging indicates trouble. Trouble that does damage. That damage can be quick and catastrophic but usually isn't. Most often, detonation occurances are small in energy and the engine is able to absorb the punishment, at least temporarily. However, over time, even light detonation does harm; weakening pistons and overheating the top piston rings. Severe detonation can destroy an engine literally in a heart beat. Listen out for pinging, if you have an emanuel, put it in say fourth at a low speed and put foot to the floor, the car will accelerate slower and be under a heavier load, should result in pinging if its apparant in your engine / going to happen it will happen then. If you are pinging I would check your O2 sensors, not sure about the Z but on most cars this will obviously give an incorrect reading if faulty / not grounded right, will short and make an uneven mixture resulting in the pinging. I still think it sounds like safety boost but, im not that techy, so seek dome propper advice, just giving my opinion. (i'll prolly get my balls busted by duff or someone now!) Steve

Valve S Seals
rudi that sounds good mate, so its not as much of a job as I thought? Duff, any ideas what to check mate, I don't want to keep driving her around like this as its not good, and I can't afford to fork out 500.00 for nissan just to diagnose the problem (so they have told me) and another rip off few k to fix it! I need to get it fixed / diagnosed quick but not sure where to turn. If I can diagnose the prob for sure, I can then get the bits in and look at getting it done, but until I can find the prob I've got no chance :( thanks me

Toad AI606
I got a 606, was installed as standard with no shock sensor or microwave (although one is optional). Has standard remot locking, optional closure devices and sensors. Anti hijacking as standard (aut door locking 5 secs after ignition on and unlock as soon as ignotion cut). Its an immob and alarm cat1.

Valve S Seals
So after stripping off various bits i found oil in the passenger IC to turbo hose and the inlet mani, vust everything else seemed clear. No oil on boost, but only on decel. I assumed it was the tubby, but as no oil on boost I guess the oil must be drawing from somewhere else when the TB's are closed and the car is on run down. The only thing I can assume is that the car is drawing oil from stem seals on run down as it tries to draw air from somewhere and they are week letting oil through, hence the blueish smoke and burnt oil smell. Gonne strip it and replace these after a few test have been run on engine. Any ideas as to any other possibilities. Thx me

My turn for det troubles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hmmm, not sure run the manual diag check; http://www.ttzd.com/tech/diagnostic/diagnostic.html U dont need the conzult for that, have a gander, might solve your prob, well show you what is the prob. I doubt you are pinking unless you are running seriously rich.

Maximum tyre width?
pps but still not in the wet
-
Maximum tyre width?
p.s. at safety boost at around 7psi i get complete traction lmao, but the car is as slow as a dog!
-
Maximum tyre width?
Got pirelli P-zero ZR rated on front and rear, one of the best value tires I think you'll find which is why porsche use them as standard. However, still no grip in damp conditions which I beleive is perfectly normal, even if you drive a "stock" Z. Im not tuned that heavy either, running 15psi, SE chip, Blitz induction , and zorst from mani back? But when turbo spools. bye bye grip (unless a nice hot, dry summers day)
