  1. 6L 4WD beast came in with a starter motor fault, we thought the engine would have to come out but, you can get to it through the wheel arch, still a six hour job though!!! this last one is of a 355 spider engine i'm doing the cam belts on, (silver one in the back ground) thought i would throw that one in :)
  2. i second that, they're alot easier to work on as well
  3. in that case, a maserati would be the cheapest to service but, what kind of service? and which model of car? i mean, a ferrari 308, 328 or 360 cambelt cam be done with the engine in but, a 355 or TR needs the engine out. put it this way, any high end high profile car will cost 4 or even 5 fold the price of servicing a zed
  4. the fact that you are taking it down to the bare bones and starting it properly. none of this stick on or add this over the top shite ;) if a jobs going to be done, it's worth doing right!
  5. i am lilking this build!!! keep it coming! :duffer:
  6. call it 300K for cash and you can pick it up tomorrow
  7. treat it as a cam seal, do not scratch anything! use a pick to "dig it out" and then drift the new seal in making sure it's nice and square. a bit of oil round the edges of the new seal will ensure it slides in nicely
  8. no worries Allan, funny you should mention a 355, im in the middle of pulling the engine to do a cam belt on one at the moment. drop me a PM if you like
  9. thats fantastic dude!! welcome to the club :D
  10. as soon as it comes in Vod, i'll get you some. it's actually a ferrari race shop who specialize in building race cars but, word has got around in the many years they have been going and every tom dick and harry with a performance car seems to bring them here. although i enjoy working on these cars, i'm not ment to be. my main line is 300's but now race season has started, they've roped me into helping them out :headvswal Z32blot... i did not know that :)
  11. lol we're pretty over run at the moment. i've not been able to get on the zeds much (sorry Daffy) dam italian cars keep coming in, iv'e got to do a starter motor on a Diablo soon and thats an engine out job!!
  12. i'm not that bloody lucky, working on an engine in a car worth 380K can be a bit nerving  the pics don't do the colour any justice, it's a much nicer brighter yellow in the flesh
  13. it's been on display in some blokes collection, once the works been done, it's off to austrailia :(
  14. a yellow one came in on saturday for a bit of engine work one of two in the world in this colour, apparantly...
  15. exactly that, i've done it balancing on a couple of jacks, with the car in the air and a gearbox stand but, if you're doing it on your own, the easiest and quickest way is to bench press it. dropping the front subframe by 1/2" and twisting the box by 45 ish degrees anti clock wise looking towards the back of the car makes it so much easier.
  16. i use loctite 598 for anything that needs sealing from oil. it's expensive and hard to find in this country but, i've not managed to find anything that will beat it ;)
  17. looking good dude, now all you need is a gauge to show you which cylinders are firing ;)
  18. either use a total lift i.e, trailor or flat bed, or if push came to shove, use an A frame with dolly wheels and lift from the rear whilst strapping the steering wheel up. i wouldn't flat tow at all, especially if it's an auto.
  19. glad all is well bud, welcome back :)
  20. glad you're enjoying the old girl Rob. i take it, you went and saw Ryan for the tune up?
