The company that I entrusted to install the tyres on my new 19" Volks damaged the paint on the face of one of the rims, oops! They were very apologetic and have agreed to have the wheel refurbed no questions. However!... The wheels are painted in a colour that Volk do not publish the paint code for, nor will they supply paint, called formula silver. The refurb company have just been round and said it will be hard to match but he thinks he can get it close enough.
If I wanted the other wheels doing to match it would cost £65+vat each for the other 3. The tyre company have said, if it doesn't match then they will pay to paint the other 3, but only based on the wheels fitted to the car and standing a few feet back. He said they will never get it identical but if its close enough they won't pay. The whole situation is a bit subjective as spotting differences in the paint colour will vary from one opinion to another. It's not just the colour but the overall finish and depth of colour where I think the downfall will be?
I'm sure that the oem paint on these wheels is good quality, so I'm also concerned that having it repainted will potentially leave it with a sub standard durability. It's also annoying down to the niggly little details of the stickers on the inside of the rim being missing on that one wheel or all wheels.
I'm reluctant to give the refurb company the wheel as once it's done, there's no going back! Just thought I'd have a little rant and see what you lot think?
Joel.
