  1. Well I've removed the EGR stuff and it looks a bit simpler now. From the look of things these metal lines can be removed and things routed elsewhere. It just looks a bit confusing when it's all in bits. Does the vacuum pipe that went to the EGR unit need to be blocked off somewhere? Don't have my camera with me to take a pic :( Fitted the 555's on saturday - easier than I thought.
  2. I've removed all the rubber hoses as I'm bypassing them all. Now it's all in bits I can't quite work out where the metal lines under the plenum go to. Can I remove them both? I think they are mainly water pipes but there's a couple of vacuum type ones there that I'm not sure if I can easily bypass. Chris.
  3. I saw the new Aston DB9 pulling into my local BMW dealer in Leeds this morning. I didn't know they were on sale yet! I thought that Top Gear feature on it the other night was one of the best bits of car TV I've seen. Lucky Clarkson!

These are just the best sounding exhaust around but not cheap. Do a search on the U.S sites for a few videos of them in use.
  5. Be aware that it slopes down toward the screen and turns into a mobile fish pond! I discussed it with a guy who had one when I was getting my kit and he said he had to bucket it out or pull away from pedestrians at high speed for an amusing soaking. You also lose the useable height in the boot. Does look good though ;)
  6. If you are going to wrape your manifold, I think you will be needing bandages mate! :D  :D
  7. I read on one of the U.S performance parts sites that they had found almost every Z they got in had torn mounts. When I took my engine out one was ripped off and the same with the car I got the new engine from. I've ordered the poly ones from Z1 now and they apparently have a metal support around them that limits their extension and holds the engine if they ever did split. The chain idea sounds good/similar.

That's not bad at all. I look at their site quite often but they hardly have any of their stuff on it. Even their catalogue doesn't list everything they sell. Is their a site where I can see this gear?
  9. One thing that confused me for a while when tracing a fog light problem was that it's the earth that's switched and not the 12v. I was getting power to the bulb but still no light. Turned out to be a corroded earth wire which I replaced. Seems stupid having permanently live wires about but there you go. I presume the headlights are the same.
  10. That's exactly what I was thinking. Never again.
  11. Yes the ECU resets itself after about an hour and will then start learning new settings.

How much was the sway bar? I tried to order one from the U.S but it's too big to ship :(
  13. I don't get it?! Derrrrr

I think there's a picture of it on here somewhere. If I remember rightly it's on the passenger side near the back (lever) end of the box. It looks like a small cylinder sticking out of the side, about an inch and a half in diameter.
  15. Depends what type you have. If it's one of the solid ones and not the type with rotating collars then you can use an old socket thats just slightly too small to fit over the nut and hammer it on then undo it with a breaker bar. I did this a few years ago when i bought a car that only had one lock nut and no key.
  16. Yeah that always does the trick for me too! :D  :x:
  17. I just saw a brand new burgundy Volvo S70 with red neons switched on in daylight! They weren't even mounted properly and you could see the tubes, fittings and wires hanging down. What is the world coming to when someone thinks neons look good on a big classy car like that?! :xxx: :xxx: :xxx:
  18. Carb cleaner is the stuff to use. Done it myself a few times.

Spacers look easy... if there is such a thing on a Z! Suport the subframe, remove the bolts and put a spacer on one at a time. To replace stock bushes you have to remove the prop/axles/diff/subframe and press them out/in - a big job.
  20. LMAO @ Timmy! Have you been on the pop again? :D We all know the Soup Dragon is one ugly MOFO :mac1:

Get a speed convertor from Z Centre to remove the 112mph limiter or get it chipped to remove it completely. Send me a PM and I'll tell you more.
  22. I would have thought most were lacquered. Even my Wonder Wheels cleaner says to test it on a small patch in case it reacts with the lacquer!

Possibly but my driving is not normal LOL :hyper:
  24. If it's down on power after sitting in traffic then there must be something wrong - not just the gauge being inaccurate. The PTU is a good one for failing under heat but I would think you would notice it being slightly rough?
