How Much Insurance
All I can say is you will probably end up crashing your first car whatever it is but anything much over 100bhp at your age and experience is just silly. Most of my mates (and me!) wrote off cars when they were young and it's not always totally your fault. You just don't have enough road sense yet to keep out of trouble and avoid other stupid drivers. You'll be down the pubs/clubs with your mates and it will get damaged or nicked too! We've all had it done. How many people sign up on this board then crash their Z within days? LOTS and most aren't even young drivers! One guy crashed his 3 times within as many weeks and ended up selling it for scrap :( The back end is very easy to lose in a powerful rear wheel drive car and you almost certainly won't have driven RWD yet. Sporty cars are also very expensive to run - fuel and repairs will cripple you. If you bought a Z or similar I bet you'd be selling it within months. I'm earning plenty of cash and have very cheap insurance but there's no way I could afford to run this car as my daily driver - £600 in petrol one month ;) Are your parents paying that too? LOL Also it's no fun with a bird in a Z - no room and the centre console is as good as a chastity belt LOL You can stand up with the T tops off or get on the bonnet but that's about it  Not fun in winter ;) Get an old Escort van - much more fun :D

All the people who objected......
Do we have to answer this? :D

Aerial on front wing???
It's a parking aid so those little people can see where the front of the car is ;) There's usually a switch on the centre console for it.

Most ammount of trouble at school?
It had been snowing for a few days and we had all been warned about throwing snowballs at the school as someone managed to break a window. During a furious snowball fight the headmaster came out onto a balcony and went absolutely mental, shouting at everyone to stop throwing them near the school. I was miles away but I threw one at him and he never saw it coming until it landed in the cup of tea he was holding and soaked him, smashing the cup on the floor  It was one of those shots that you could never repeat in a million years  Luckily he never saw who threw it but he was not amused

BOV question #24a
On an auto you don't take your foot off the throttle to change gear so the dump valves have no air to dump! They will only work when you take your foot off ;)

North East Meet
I should be OK for this if the car is running by then.

Perfect lights
I paid £150 to have 'em cleaned, with the bonus of them being returned with no clips for the bulbs so had to get a new set of headlights...

What are the symptoms of a faulty CAS?
Tried a new air sensor as it says in the first post ;) LOL I took the front 4 coil packs off yesterday and there's no sign of any water. I can't see it being water in them a week after it rained...

What are the symptoms of a faulty CAS?
Stuart, Yes it all started after this very heavy rain last week. The first time it went away but after more rain a few days later it did it again and it hasn't gone away. It's lumpy at all revs and seems very random. Sometimes it clears for a couple of seconds but that's it. It does seem worse when you put your foot down. When pulling away steadily it seems OK. Lymon, I have noticed the rev counter moving about in jumps sometimes and it doesn't always seem to keep up with the sound of the engine. The revs seem to be rising but the needle seems to be lagging behind? I thought my clutch was slipping at first as I've just adjusted it. I have a spare one on my old engine at my parents. How easy are they to change? I've checked and cleaned the connector (it was very clean anyway) so I think it must be the sensor or the wiring. Where does the wiring run to? Straight to the ECU? Cheers, Chris.

What are the symptoms of a faulty CAS?
I can't believe my series 2 PTU has gone faulty so looking at other things. Would a faulty CAS make the car miss and hold back like there's intermitant sparks? Sometimes the car goes like a train for a second then it almost stalls and cuts out. It runs so rough it can hardly climb a hill sometimes then it's off again. It just feels like it's only getting sparks half the time. I've cleaned everything and tried a different MAF.

Woo Hoo! Got Me Lights!
Cool that's what I've been wanting to replace my Fiat ones with. I'm trying to get the same style as Skyline lights but I haven't seen any the right size for the rear panel. If the outer rings are now tail lights, how have you done the brake lights? I presume the centres are normally indicators, fog, reverse lights?

Req Recaro Type Seats
I want a set of Cobra Sidewinders when I've got a bit of cash again. The Daytona's are very nice too - I think Touslecoq has those in his Z. Cobra's aren't too expensive either and there's lots of cutom options to choose from.

Woo Hoo! Got Me Lights!
Are those the usual LED ones Mark? They look red in the second pic when all the ones I've seen are clear lenses?

Porsche Boxster 2.7s
So is it a 2.7 or an S?
-
Porsche Boxster 2.7s
Since when have they made a TT Boxster?! News to me... The Boxster S is a 3.2 with 250bhp, Much quicker car than the standard Boxster 2.7 with 217bhp. I wouldn't be expecting to wup it unless you have some mods as they are lighter cars with great handling.

Changing Auto box oil
You also won't get any debris out and will just flush it round the system when you refill. Sounds like a very complicated and inefficient way of doing it when you can just undo the pan bolts!
-
info needed please
Wouldn't have thought it would have leaked enough to drop the fuel pressure and if it did I would have thought it would feel a bit rough anyway.

Anyone got a spare PTU I can borrow?
Since the rain last week my car is missing on one or 2 cylinders and stumbles and stalls. I think the PTU got soaked from my bonnet vent. I've relocated it now and cleaned the connectors but it's still the same. Shame as it's a series 2 type that's only done a couple of thousand miles :( Can anybody lend me one to test? It's my week off and the Z is running like poo. Chris.
