  1. well where do i start with this one?? i would like to do away with my pcv breather system has anyone done it on here?? i think but not sure if i remove the pipe from the rocker cover to the turbo inlet pipe, put a filter on the end of the rocker cover and blank off the turbo inlet pipe, then remove the pcv valves and put a filter in here and blank off the plennum will this work?? i know the system is there as an emissions issue but if i do this then is the crank case still able to breathe?? i would like to try this as my zed is burrning oil, after overrun when i put my foot down again i get a huge puff of blue smoke, so if i remove the breather from the plennum and it still smokes its gotta be valve stem seals i hope!!  any help much appreceated as its driving me nuts!!! :smash: :smash:
  2. forgot to mention brand new turbos bout 3 months ago less than 500 miles on them!! they might be still bedding in????
  3. ok ill give that a try, ive got commpressed air bottles in work 200bar hope i dont blow the head off :nelson:
  4. oh yeah baby!! plenty of prep work, as manta said as always with fiberglass some work is required, but take your time, prep work is everything, get it right first time
  5. hi andy hope this helps!! FORMULA FOR SIZING MULTIPLE FILTERS If fitting more than one filter use the following formula - x2 = BHP x 1.6 x3 = BHP x 1.85 x4 = BHP x 2.2 Example using round straight clamp-on filter RU-0600: RU-0600 x 1 = 125 BHP RU-0600 x 2 = 200 BHP RU-0600 x 3 = 230 BHP RU-0600 x 4 = 275 BHP NOTES ON TURBOCHARGERS AND SUPERCHARGERS Because Turbo's and Superchargers do not rely on atmospheric pressure but rather forced induction, lower rated filters can be used. As a rough guide you can normally increase the quoted BHP figure by 80% (more as boost pressures increase). So the RU-0600 in the example above will easily cope with a BHP of 225 in a vehicle with a turbo. ok then with all this in mind the ru-2820 is rated at 260 hp, multiply by 1.6 cos there is two of them we have 2 x filters = 416 bhp, now then cos it is turbocharged it is 80% more efficient again so we have a grand total of 416 bhp add 80% = 748.8 bhp thats a lot, see what i mean bout being over efficient, when in theory only one of the above filters would suffice, 260 bhp add 80% = 468 bhp!! what do you reckon!! hope my maths are right lol!!!
  6. yep you would be right in saying that, how can i temporarilly disconnect my breathers to eliminate my valve stem seal problem, but if it then still smokes on overrun it is then deffo the seals i think?? :nelson:
  7. andy the filters you need are K&N RU 2820 i have added a pic for you of the old ones and the new ones!! topless how r ya, the oil i was telling you about was not oil from the fillters but engine oil working its way to the plennum, i seem to be gettin blue smoke on overrun and when i opened the plenum oil was in there, now you say that some oil is meant to be in there but im not sure how much, just to give you an idea i burnt bout 2 1/2 liters of oil from overrun, is it still likley to be valve stem oil seals, or is this oil in the plennum a giveaway?? what do you think!!
  8. ok so this is the se-nissan maxiflow kit complete with the shitty paper filters having said that i didnt get oil in the plennum from using these!! :headvswal and the other attachment is with the awsome k&n filters which sound great and preform really well, but using these i seem to get oil in the plennum, i looked inside the intake pipes that go behind the headlamps & the drivers side had some oil in it, so i stuffed a rag down the pipe and was quite a bit of oil in there!! has anyone come across this before?? would a catch can be a better bet fir me?? cheers
  9. been having blue smoke on overrun lately, thought it was the valve stem oil seals, but had a look inside my plennum and its got some oil in the bottom pcv's i hear you all say, well they were replaced bout 500 miles ago, new hoses too, am i right in saying its not the valve stem oils seals as there would be no oil in the plennum if it was the valves as the oil would leak straight from the valves to the cylinders!! SO WHAT ELSE COULD THIS BE?? :headvswal i have been told by a mechanic who used to work on rally cars that if the engine is breathing too heavy I.E the air filters are too efficient that it can cause some oil too be drawn into the breathers system!! is this correct??? any help greatly appreceated.
  10. yep same here guys, jack the rear of the car up and grab the wheel and try to pull it in and out if there in any play at all hicas arms are worn out!!
  11. yep john you got it, thats how i did it, dont forget to put sealant around where you cut the holes to go through, and dont drop the bolts between the skins in the tailgate as it will roll down to the upper part of the tailgate as it is open, and a complete bitch of a job to retrief them again!!! :wack:
  12. well what can i say, i had the se-nissan maxiflow kit twin pop which uses 2 huge airfilters in a bull horn configuration!!, changed the shitty paper filters from se-nissan with k&n filters awsome!! now then !! i have been told that if the engine is breathing too heavy it can draw oil in from your breathers im not sure if this is true but i am having oil come into my plennum from somewhere, new pcv valves and hoses fitted a couple of months ago so im not sure what to say!! i will try to downgrade to 1 filter to see if there is any diffrence!! :headvswal
  13. have u checked your wiring loom?? the loom might have chaffed through and is earthing somewhere do a continuity test on the connections make sure they are healthy ;)
  14. hi derek i have a spare turbo technics breather kit at home but u cant have them  because they ruinned my turbos and a lot of other people's turbo' get rid of them matey they do more harm than good!! hope you enjoyed the us. dewi.
