well im fiiiing fuming :mad: :mad: bought an mr2 for my bro last month and took it for a cambelt change, no frigging tensioner on the cambelt ffs alarm bells start ringing, next thing the mechanic calls me up and says its not the right head, so he whips off the head only to find the numbers ground off the block :( :( right then time to cal the previous owner, mobile switched to answer phone :headvswal ok then lets look at the log book and look at the previous owner steven cawley 41 weston road runcorn wa7 4LB so i tried to find his number in the bt directory and yep couldent find it, but we did find a cawley at 24 weston road so we called him up and he old us that he lived there for 15 years and had never heard of another cowley at that address!! so where do i go from here is there a chancse i will get my money back or should i just go round there and break his legs!!

i think but dont quote me on this it is ok to run on non optimax if you are not running high boost, but if you hve to fill up with something else dont drive the car as hard!!

oh dear what have you done LOL!! if you can open the stereo up and try to manually wind it open then unplug the power to the motor it will work again but it wont rotate at least you can still use it!!

take it from me dont be adding any additives to your beloved zed, i did and look what happend big ends are banging away like a diesel tractor with no oil :wack: :wack: as i understand the zed engines have very high tolarences in the engines and are very well enginered adding additives will as you say block important oil ways and other nasty stuff, when doing an oil change i normaly drop the oil fill up with cheap stuff, go for a quick drive, empty it again and refill with the good stuff, what oil to use well the best stuff for the zed and this is really the best no matter what anyone else says is................ hmmm i dont want to start a war so i better not say :D :D :D

yeah worse thing was i was on a hot date at the time too :D had to go home to change cars and burry my embarrasement somwhere LOL!! oh yeah this also caused the car to overheat big time cause there was no oil running round the engine, just hope to god that the garage will say it is the additive fault and then they will have to pay to fix it might be a bit of a long shot though!!! :bow: must say im not much into additives but i thought i would give it shot, should have stopped when i realised it took 1/2 hour for the additive to come out of the bottle it ws so thick!! funny thing is when i start the car now i get no smoke!! thats cos i got no oil running around probably, so here is a big lesson learned i have taken one for the team :nelson: now i must bend over and take the consequenses :xxx: :xxx: :xxx: :o

yep im the unluckiest zed owner here, stopped in halfords to buy some of that stop smoke additive you add to the oil, did as it said on the bottle took it for a short drive and hey presto no smoke but no oil pressure either ffs :wack: stopped zed to check oil and was fine started again and very low oil pressure but a huge knocking sound like a clapped out diesel, big ends!!!! this stop smoke was quite thick to go in and im sure this is the cause of my low oil pressure i called the firm up that do the oil additive and fair play they are going to have a look at the cause of the trouble and if its there fault they will rectify it but getting the garage to prove that is going to be a bit of a challange, any tips for me then fellas!!

ive got the ebc set up on mine with grooved and dimpled, but using with normal pads, up 2 50 there ok but after 50 there awsome!! maybee we should do a poll bout brake pads, ebs, kevlar, ceramics, drums LOL!!

hi there nope no oil in the plennum or intake hoses and new pcv valves fitted too compression is about 145 on cyl 1 but about 160 on all the rest!! smokes from both zorsts!!

hi mark have had new turbos 6months ago, and when checking the plugs they seem wet with oil!! so oil is deffinetly getting in the cylinders somehow??

yep i know i have been on bout this before but its doing my head in!! first fault! coasting down hill with throttle closed no smoke but when booting it after wards at the bottom of the hill i get clouds of blue smoke!! but if i keep the throttle open as i come down the hill, then start off again at the bottom of the hill i get no smoke!! this to me sounds like valve stem oil seals, also when i start the car i get some blue smoke when i rev it but soon clears!! so i have done all the valve stem oil seals with the heads on i might add :hyper: and the smoke is still there same as before :headvswal is it possible i have hammerd the valve stem oil seals down too hard? i did make a tool to push them down but then i used a big hammer till they were right the way down and making a pinging noise :wack: or could this problem be a piston ring failure?? i have noticed my plug threads are a bit oilly and my commpression is ok!! and its using quite a bit of oil can anyone please help as i might do the valve stem oil seals again if you all think that seems to be the problem!!

on my bro's mr2 coming home 2day, the radio just cut out while driving, then when i used the wipers they were very slow, then the rev counter cut out and the car just bout limped home, tried to start car again but the battrey was dead!! charged the battrey then started the car and put a voltmeter across the terminals i had 11.55 volts but they were slowly decreasing went down to 11.50 volts in bout 10 secs!! disconected the battrey as the car was running and it just cut out!! shouldent the car stil run when you disconect the battrey?? i know its not good for the alternator but it proves it is working, i think that the car is running off the battrey and the alternator is shafted what do you guys think??
