usually, 1 wheel is gonna break traction 1st & rotate faster than the others, so unless all 4 wheels slip the same amount i guess it'll know slip is occouring.

syncro's would only make a noise when changing gear, like a crunching sound - it sounds more like bearings to me. prob layshaft if it goes in 4th but you may as well replace all the bearings if your gonna do a rebuild.

RPS street disc clutch from Smithy. i got one & its great - he's sold loads on here now. it'll handle about 35% torque over the stock one iirc. anyway ask smiffy (he also does a lightwieght flywheel to go in at the same time ;) )

& so far so good. doesnt thinks its a write off :D yay! and a traction control GB's just started as well, phew ;)

as you may know i had a bit of a dink in mine a few weeks back :o just had the assessor in & it looks like its not a write off (thank god) but will know for sure tomorrow when he sends the confirmation. so as long as the fekkers dont try to write it off im deffo in on this ;)

LMFAO!!!!! £3k!!!!!!!!!!!!! we charge £62.50 per hour at my garage, which is probably a little more expensive than most "local" garages as were a mercedes garage. im gonna ignore the cost of the pipes, cos it really is negligable compared to £3k!! anyway, at our labour rate that amounts to 48hrs labour!!! thats a complete working week including overtime on saturday morning & 4 days in the week!!! (well the mechanic would need friday lunch to himself after that job!!!) :D :D

may be a good point actually. on the mercs, we had a problem with road springs breaking, mercs answer was to fit a sacrificial anode under the spring seat (a bit of ally! same sort of material as the heater matrix) which corroded away instead of the spring.
