Urgent Help
deffo as andy says: a cylinder leakage test is required. it will pinpoint the problem quickly & easily. you can make one out of an old spark plug, some copper tubing, some hose & an airline connector!! ( break the ends off the plug, drill out the centre, braise the copper pipe to the plug, attach the hose to the pipe with a connector in the other end - true blue peter stylee ;)) - plug it into an air compressor & off you go. wont have a gauge to see the pressure loss, but you will still hear it leaking. DONT buy a cheap one - there crap & the gauge doesnt read accuratley anyway. might as well use the patented design above :D

Steam wash engine
i would NEVER steam clean my engine bay (as many people will testify!! is there gonna be the "grubbiest engine bay award" at billing this year :D). if you really, really want to clean it then wash down with degreaser, then either just hose it off or pressure wash (no heating the water please - thats what causes moisture to build up in the connectors). unless youve got serious oil leaks pissing out everywhere then i cant see the point TBH, but then again im not really an engine bling bay fan! engine bays for keeping the engine in, cleaning its not gonna make it any quicker :p

PFR6B-11B specs.
sorry, but i strongly disagree with this. before platinum plugs were available people still got holed pistons due to det on copper plugs!! i wouldnt rely on a plug to stop damage from det. (IMOHFO ;) )

Air CON (Again)
no need, no neeeeeed!! R134a is fine with the proper conversion kit. (which reminds me, iv got to see if iv got any left at work for someone :)) replacing the drier, condensor seals etc etc was a very old & outdated way of thinking & is now not ness with the new kits on the market (which weve fitted quite a few of over the years) & while its technically not as efficient as the old R12 youd be hard pressed to tell the difference in practice. id be more concerned if the gas your guy used needed synthetic oil because thats the whole problem with converting to R134a!!!! the old R12 oil (mineral) doesnt dissolve in R134a because it uses synthetic oil. this causes it to turn to jelly which can bugger up the system (lubrication probs, clog the expansion valve etc) if you get the chance, syphon some refrigerant into a container then drop the correct oil in (use goggles ;)) - it fizzes a bit & the oil dissolves completely. then drop the incorrect type in - yukky globs of oil in the refigerant!! (ps - if you need a kit drop me a line & i'll see if iv got 2 kits at work :) )
