over the last few days a water leak has appeared im having to top the radiator up a litre an hour, at first some one said it could be condesation off the aircon cos it leaks all over the passenger floor well, it seems to drip a little and sometimes it gushes out like a mug full at a time,

by the looks from what i can see it comes out the ducting for the aircon but dont no alot about it really and when i get in to start it the screen steams up fairly quickly,

 

i would be grateful ov any help as im useless lol.

oh and the car stinks ov a fishy smell inside when i start it too lol.

sounds like your heater matrix has gone, it is situated behind the centre console in a little panel. Costs about £100 to get a new one, and is a pain to replace. As a short term measure, if you look behind the engine, right near the centre, there are two pipes that go into the firewall, these feed the heater matrix, you can short then out on the engine side and it will stop the leak/ water loss, but you will have no heating. Picture attached courtesy of Mac, shows the two pipes going into the firewall. You HAVE to short the link out on the engine side, bot the firewall, you can either use one of the hoses there or a piece of flexible hose.

thanks for that ive heard these are a pain in the arse to do are they poss to do with out taking the dash out.

that sounds about rite it pisses out very little on the drivers side ov the consle but on the passenger side ov the centre console it pisses every where thanks for the info.

If you dont fancy taking the heater matrix out for a while, what i did was to override the heater matrix from the engine side, those two pipes on the pic just need connecting together. This allows you to still drive your car in the mean time.

think thats wot il do for now are the heater matrixs is a pain get to change does the dash have to come out to get at it.

There is a way of doing it without taking the dash out, BUT, its a fooker, i tried myself, which is why i ended up overriding in the engine bay instead! There is one screw thats a fooker to get too. So i'm gonna wait till i get a new heater matrix, then i'm taking the dash out.... Best way!

I had the same problem on my Soarer, and made up some stuff that cured it... still working to this day... I have the constituents left, it is a mix of intumescent paint and aluminium dust.

 

You have to disconnect the rest of the system [where those two pipes are and pump thru the warmed solution for 20 minutes or so with a drill pump, it seals very well indeed, when you re-connect you have to put a clamp on the feed pipe for a while so as to allow the mix to harden off... there is more to it than this but it saved me £1000 in repairs etc...

just to clarify Phil, you dont join the two pipes in the picture, but the two pipes they go to on the engine. You are a little too far for me to come and help, but if you give me a bell when you are near your car, I will talk you thru finding the right pipes. :) And Although it is a radiator thingy, it is inside a plastic box, hence your confusion :)

if its anyhelp i put some radweld in mine early last nite and never got in til late and it never leaked once i was out about 5hrs it shud av used loads in that time but not a drop :)
