  1. To be honest - in real world practice its unlikey you would notice anything - in theory its possible if you had runout on the hub. Its just the optimum way of doing things!
  2. I thought the tubs needed replacing at least - arnt they ceramic & break up past 1 bar?!
  3. I have never liked them either TBH - overated & owned by chavy bullsh!tters mainly!! The amount of 500+bhp cossies out there that would struggle to make much more than standard is unbelievable!! each to their own but not for me. plus its still an Escort (or worse a Sierra LOL)
  4. They need to be done on the car with the lathe we have - some lathes can do the discs off the car I believe. On car is best - as said you are machining the discs to suit any runout on the hub to get the best results possible when you skim them on the car :)
  5. results of skim can be found on my brembo upgrade thread here: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=150484&highlight=brembo+gtr+upgrade
  6. Not "hashy bashy" at all (whatever that means - unless its a good thing LOL!) As long as they do not get skimmed below the minimum thickness then they are better than new!! (yup - better LOL!) as they are being skimmed on the car they will be true to any runout on the hub. We skim all the time - makes a lovely job :) Most times you will be taking off less than 1mm unless the discs are really bad! The brake lathe we have is used by Porsche dealers who actually skim brand new discs to get them perfect on the car!! The problem is the labour rate to skim them often works out similar to new discs in a dealer LOL! We generally only use this on internal sales jobs
  7. PMSL! Just told my mate at work this - his sons in the Marines 42!! he was laughing his nuts off!!
  8. I love my zed but either the above R33 or R32 would be fine by me as a second car!! :D
  9. Mercedes use sacrificial anodes under road springs where the steel springs meet the steel suspension arms to try to reduce corrosion & spring failure (we still replace loads though! LOL!)
  10. welcome bud - some great looking work there! :)
  11. I have had mine 10 years at end of Feb! clearly theres a lot of insanity in this club LOL!!
  12. To be honest I have had mine 10 years & it has only ever let me down twice - PTU failed when I first got it & replaced with a series 2 & a few years back the water pump went. Apart from that it has been very reliable (know I shouldnt be saying this!) I am in the trade & do all my own work so not a problem there! Where in Kent are you BTW?
  13. LOL - I had the same thoughts a couple of years back. My zed had been off the road with corrosion to the rear sills - needed a few other bits sorting & had sat outside my work for about 18 months as I didnt know what to do with her - the poor old girl look pretty sad :crying: (see my rebuild thread LOL!) I have always fancied a GTR as they are pretty awesome machines! However - I personally think the Zed has a much better look - the GTR's are agressive looking where the Z32 just looks sleek & sporty. I was almost at the point of breaking her but in the end I just couldnt do it & ended up spending a fortune on restoration work, a full respray as well as a few more mods!! :w00t: Its a personal decision & only one you can really make - once it was back on the road I knew I made the right (probably not financially LOL) decision! :balloon:
  14. yea - Im sure if you damage other peoples property its covered under public liability on your insurance regardless of cause (unless deliberate). good luck with it! :)
  15. bloody hell - that is awful!! :hurl: LOL! (IMHO etc etc ;) )
  16. how about these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-Skyline-R33-GTR-Vspec-Brembo-front-brake-calipers-and-discs-HEL-hoses-/250976957008?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3ASkyline&hash=item3a6f647250 very pleased with mine :) edit - just checked listing again - seller rating low!!
