  5. i think the probem with mycroft/the devil/the stupid ego-warrior is that he likes to think hes superior to everyone else & winds them up that way. when he comes here most of the people couldnt give a toss & end up winding him up :D

  7. LOL!! if you get to the bottom of this theres a guy in broadstairs with the same fault!! i had a look & tested/swapped the TPS. i suspect its a fault in either the gearbox or engine ECU passing/recieving the incorrect info try & find someone local who you can swap the ecu's over with
  8. you spoke to smithy??
  9. same happened to my nan a few weeks back, she was like a 2nd mother to me, we were very close as she brought me up as a kid. boss at work went the same way 2 weeks before that, & iv just found out my sister has just lost her 2 twins she was pregnant with :( :( :( my thoughts are with you, trust me, i know how you feel :(
  10. is the noise deffo engine & not turbo?? if a turbo goes then it will pump oil straight into the exhaust. hows your oil pressure, if youve lost oil pressure it could be thats whats caused it to go & is whats causing the ends to knock.
  11. if the servo had gone bad, you would still be able to operate the clutch, it would just be a lot heavier
  12. just dont go booting it until youve filled up again, you will be more likely to get det even with a fivers worth in. drive until empty then fill up to the brim with optimax & fuel cleaner

  16. i usually go up on the sunday as i work saturdays. always been good on sunday :)
  17. clamp off the clutch flexi hose - the pedal should now be pretty solid if the master cyl is ok & no air in system. if the pedal sill goes to the floor, then you either still have air in, or the master cyl is fooked. if the pedal is firm then the slave is fooked ;) if the slaves not leaking then its more than likely an internal leak in the master cyl IME.
  18. i know a few of you have posted about high idle/surging so i thought id post my findings. had done all the usual several times ( clean TB's, reset then replaced TPS, cleaned then replaced engine temp sensor & harness etc), but still had an idle that would suddenly jump up to 1500rpm. took the plunge & removed & cleaned out the idle control valve. it was a bit of a git to remove as its quite tight at the back of the plenum (pass side). not too bad but if your gonna take it of get a new gasket first. mine broke up & i had to make a new one!! once it was off i could see the electrical contacts were very corroded, i think this was prob most of the problem with mine, cleaned them up. while it was off i also stripped it down, quite a bit of carbon deposits in there. (again take care if doing this, theres small springs & plungers in there ;)) cleaned them all up with carb cleaner and a little wet & dry on the plungers. put it all back together & the idles spot on now :) if it stays like this i'll be a happy bunny :D
  19. ps plug change is at 54k miles. 16 plugs, around £300 in parts & labour at a dealer!! full b service would be £900 ish inc plugs, air & fuel due @ 48k miles. so take that into account when haggleing ;)
  20. hi bud. nice spec the 430's. not quite up to zed performance bud still ;) 279bhp @ 5750rpm 400Nm torque @ 3000-4400rpm 0-62mph in 6.4 155mph (limited) av mpg 24.4 (33.6 cruising)

many people remove EGR as it can cause problems if it goes wrong. however, im not convinced as it helps reduce combustion temps at part loads, & may help prevent det in certain areas. also i dont think anyone has ever actually experienced problems with their EGR any way. i would also *NEVER* leave a timing cover off. if a stone flicked up off the road it would be disaterous!! (& yes, i have seen it happen!)
  22. yeah, dont be such a grouch stu or ill have to ban you!! :D
