What did you do to your zed today?
Went down and had the new goodyear F1 asymmetrics fitted all round, decided to go a little wider so now on 275/40/18 rear and 245/35/18 fronts after having a discussion with Funkysi and joelyP and i have to say, these tyres feel far superior to the nankangs! Havent scrubbed the wax off them yet so grip is a little slippy but the comfort of the ride is so much better. Gave her the first bath since being repainted and went for a short ride out to take a couple of pictures as the sun was out.. Going to get out and connect the front speakers and crossovers tomorrow morning, then i have my mums car to fix and a couple of people viewing my house in the afternoon so full on day! Hopefully I'll get some work finished on the Z too..

What did you do to your zed today?
Ok, now im seeing the issue haha.. I bought one from BnQ for about £100 with a 24 ltr tank. Its ok but the tank is still quite small so the compressor runs up very quickly once you start to use the air, its pretty powerful though so will do for most jobs needed right now but maybe in the future I'll upgrade. As for garages, im in the process of designing one for my new house if it ever goes through, looking at a double size and tall enough to get the car on a set of lifts which i also plan to buy. Still a dream at the moment but providing things go to plan, should be a reality soon!

Carbon Fibre Scuttle Panel posible group buy. Register of interest
Hydro dipping is a difficult one with these scuttles, i have attempted it several times and had mixed results. The main problem with these is the amount of opportunity for trapped air in the moulding to cause blows in the dip. I dare say it is possible but the failure rate could cause costs to be higher than it is worth. The setup i had was limited due to size of the scuttles however i will say that if they were taken to a proffesional dipping business, they wouldnt experience the difficulty i would face to do them. Im pretty sure that if you wanted to consult a profesional hydrographics business, you may well get a good price negotiated on group buy for dipping work. Worth a try for sure. Unfortunately my hydro tank is now been scrapped because after the lack of interest, the equipment was taking up far too much space in my workshop and it was pointless keeping as no one wanted anything done. I would advise either approaching a proper hydro business or alternatively there is also carbon wrapping services available. Wrapping would actually strengthen and protect the plastic even if it has started to degrade. That also may be worth an attempt.

Isnt a compressor and blow nozzle exactly the same? The blow nozzle i have on my compressor would blow water out of anywhere .. It has the added bonus of being able to power airtools and painting guns too lol.

Light up those rear reflectors..
Hi guys, dont know if its been covered here but decided to do one of those little mods today. So thought id let others see how its done.. easy job but some people worry about doing things so here goes.. You will need a 10mm drill bit as sharp as possible, Phillips screwdriver, 2 pig tail 5W push in bulb holders (ebay £1.99 for 5) and 2 x 5W pea bulbs or equivalent LED if you wish. Take your reflectors out of your bumper by undoing the phillips head screw and pull the reflector out. Now lay the reflector face down on a piece of thick cardboard to prevent scratching or damaging the surface. Take a look on the back and you will see a cross shaped point of plastic sticking out. This is the centre point of the hole that needs to be drilled. Drill the 10mm hole slowly and dont apply much pressure as this will allow the drill bit to do the work. Slowly drill and the swarf will be like paper thin and this will give you the best chance of not damaging those reflectors. When you begin to breach the hole its likely that the drill will lock up in the plastic, so at this point id advise removing the drill bitfrom the drill and turning it by hand for the final part of the cut. Once the hole is cut, simply push the bulb and holder in to the hole and boom, your done.. To wire them up, simply run an extension from your number plate lights directly to the wires on the bulb holder and join together. Reinsert your reflectors and switch on your lights and youll have lovely lit reflectors! Simple..

What did you do to your zed today?
I actually did buy a second car already Chris, in fact I'm now in my second 2nd car cos the first one was a ka haha. Because I don't have the luxury of a garage I prefer to keep mine on the move although I draw the line at snow or very bad icy conditions, more due to the fact that it probably wouldn't move far in it anyway  Jet washing mine was definitely necessary though as there are gaps in the underseal and I'd rather not leave that crud on there without the protection.. When I move house I shall be garaging the car and plan to have a four post lift installed. That's a condition with the wife or else I won't be moving! Once the dry weather comes in it'll be going to have a full underseal done to keep all the underside I'm good order.. I'll be stripping the subframe, fuel tank and drive train to give them full access to all the little nooks and crannys.. Good to hear you passed Gary.. I wouldn't have expected it not to if I'm honest! Not exactly I'm bad nick that motor of yours huh!

What did you do to your zed today?
So how would you go about removing road salt from the underside Chris? When I was looking under mine at the weekend I honestly couldn't see a point where the salt wasn't! I get what you're saying about pressure washing the chassis but I don't know if I'd rather risk a little standing water rather than a pile of salt against the chassis? I have an arc car wash up the road that has a chassis cleaner in it, but I've been dubious about using it because of the upward spray towards the engine and all those lovely electrical items.. So I'd be interested in what you'd advise to do? Just wanted to say, I should've mentioned about the underseal only being applied when bone dry, but thought I'd be stating the obvious to be fair so it didn't really spring to mind at the time..

Forgot to mention 007 usually that's the procedure before doing an underseal. Jet wash it off to get the dirt off, then the wire brushes to remove the old underseal and any surface rust pre treated with zinc rust treatment.. Then fresh underseal when it's all dry.. Definitely gonna have the fuel rank off mine at some point as I noticed a little surface corrosion under there. Get it quick before it becomes an issue.

The underside is OK to jet wash of course, that the bit that's in contact with water most of its life.. A good underseal is of course the best thing to keep the rust away but so much salt can still eat away in to the places where the underseal has worn or even missed. If I had the option of lifting the car on 4 post lifts then I'd be under it cleaning every month.. However laying on the ground in tesco is the only option at 8pm on a Saturday night and the salt on it was terrible.. So needs must..

What did you do to your zed today?
I've got a new owner having me help him rebuild half the front of his Z at the moment Alic otherwise I'd offer you a hand, he showed me a photo of his aftermarket intercoolers yesterday and I think they're gonna be tea bags haha.. Don't know if anyone has any laying around but looking for the rubber pipes from the stock intercoolers to the first section of hard pipes and also an oem front indicator bulb holder for the bumper if anyone has them knocking around? I don't think I'll be refitting his aftermarket ic's for previously mentioned reasons so may be needing those pipes as he hasn't got them. Let me know what you want for them if you have them.. Cheers guys..

What did you do to your zed today?
I had a good look at the underside of mine whilst it was at jimmers. After the trip down there, the underside resembled the salt flats so I'd get on the floor with the jet wash and give it a blast Simon, cos I can promise you the roads are far from salt free! Couldnt actually believe how much there was under there. Gave the people in tesco a good laugh though cos when I got back home I washed the car down and then went and laid on the floor In tesco garage and jet washed the whole underside to get rid of it all.. Fortunately I have drains in my skirts and a nice slot near the wings where I can force the jet wash water down it and flush them out because skirts are a bugger for trapping salt and crud. They'll be coming off shortly anyway for the repaint but in the meantime I don't want salty stuff messing with the metal.. Tom, loved the pics mate.. Felt quite envious! Reminded me of the Scotland trip I did last year driving through the Highlands and the Ben nevis views.. Breathtaking views! I'll have to get out there with you in the near future and you can give me a tour mate.. I know malak Ali wants to go for a jaunt in Wales aswell so maybe get a few more interested and make a weekend of it? Hotel or camp a night? We can have a chat and organise something for this year maybe?

What did you do to your zed today?
There aren't enough auto boxes left to keep you on the road Russ haha.. You need to get a manual conversion before they run out mate, come to the dark side, you find the road trips don't end up on the back of a tow truck although it's much better fuel economy that way lol. Anyway joking aside, I need to say a big thanks to jimmer for the work he's done today. New one piece prop fitted, rear crankshaft seal, boost leak sorted, found the real cause of the tyre wear which was the hicas Bush on the passenger side (mot guy missed that one!) turbo oil feed and return pipes fitted with new washers and gaskets and tightened up with a spanner not just the fingers as they were previously. Even managed to rewire my horns and enjoyed honking away at every opportunity haha... The drive home was like a different car, so big thumbs up Jim, really happy with the new lease of life you gave the old girl

And before you jump in with the been off the road statement, I never said it had been off the road completely,I just said it hadn't gone out much because it had no heater.. It's been out every weekend, just not been used as a daily.

Simon,I realise from most of your responses to my posts that you're intent on trying to turn my key mate but, please engage your brain before you input an incorrect statement and end up looking the tit.. June 2016 is actually two winters.. One in 2016 & one in 2017... We have one per year.. Feeling smug yet?

What did you do to your zed today?
All I can go on is my own experiences.. Even though my Z has been having little use the last 5 months, it was used as a daily car for the most time I've owned it since June 2016. Been used in all weather's salt or not and its reason for lack of recent use is down to the fact I was waiting for months to get a heater matrix installed, otherwise it'd have been out much more often, as it is now. I've kept mine clean and over this time I have seen no evidence of rust at all. It'll be having a fresh dose of underseal I'm the next month or so as funds permit and cavity wax etc inspected and sorted. When the front end comes apart for the respray, I will be removing a lot of things and replacing them with the freshly treated and powder coated replacements even though the parts currently fitted are in good order. I received the full energy suspension poly Bush kit today and that will be getting added to all the parts being replaced. Just about to put an order in with energy suspension I'm the US aswell to get some new damper bellows, front and rear sway bar bushes (which were missing from the kit) and a few other odds and sods so if anyone is wanting to order anything from them, let me know ASAP and we can save on shipping costs etc. After my visit to jimmer in the morning it'll be straight off to the tyre shop Sunday morning for new boots all round and a full geometry setup too. So gonna be a busy weekend.. Might even have time to break out the snow foam and give that a try or maybe Autoglyms new HD shampoo? Looking forward to trying that one along with their HD wax.. Out of interest, has anyone tried this American marvel known as F-11? I think?? It's some sort of coating for paintwork, chrome, leather etc... Apparently it seals everything like a Teflon coating.. Seen the ads but not sure if it's actually any good... Anyone tried it yet?

What did you do to your zed today?
Not if you look after it properly... I bought mine to enjoy it, can't do that if its in a garage all its life si. ARC chassis wash on occasion and good underseal maintenance and salt doesn't stay there long enough really. Plus the fact that it rains constantly here, most of that salt is more than likely back in the sea an hour after its been spread on the road
