  1. Thought I’d spend a few hours with the zed. Plan was to fit my new coilovers and adjustable control arm bushes... but then got sidetracked with rust removal ??‍♂️ Been going to town on just the one corner so far with a wire brush. Removed the old oem shock, too. Much happier now just left with solid metal. Have also now ordered a treatment kit from Rustbusters on the recommendation from Jimmer, too. So fitting the new shiny suspension can wait a week or so until my rustbuster order arrives and I can treat all the metal work properly first. ??????
  2. Nothing else yet. But been busy working. Will spend most this weekend playing around with it though I should think ? And thanks mate!
  3. best I could manage. And this old phone of mine is becoming worse and worse at taking photos! But decals on ?
  4. Thanks all! Will give this a go shortly ?
  5. So these little stickers just arrived. As mine is a UK car I won’t be putting the Fairlady Z part into the back, but does anyone have a photo of their car clearly square from the back? So I can see rough positioning? Please ? Many thanks! Brett
  6. Your timing is impeccable, Richard. Just came up from the garage... had some black vinyl so thought I’d give it a go. First time ever using the stuff. Not perfect, but think it helps tie it in somewhat. Have ordered these now: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282999957189 ? Brett
  7. Heat was definitely what was needed. This little £15 heat gun that I randomly bought and never used has been a lifesaver Lights out with ease, quick wipe away of the dirt behind, heat up the silicone again and fix the new ones in place ? The whole conversion is quite a time consuming job all in. But for the money, worthwhile I feel ??
  8. Time to fit these homemade 99 spec rear lights ? Boot stripdown complete and the centre rear light panel now out. Thankfully I have a replacement one of these too as this one is very cracked. I found a set of better condition used tails to do the conversion on, so now just need to remove the original tails. Now the centre panel was piece of cake... but am I right I’m assuming the outer tail lights are stuck in with more of that nasty black stuff? Is it a heat gun job? Also... found these 2 items while stripping the boot out. Never seen before. Neither has Jimmer so assuming nothing to do with the car and instead added at a later date ??‍♂️ Hope you’re all enjoying your Easter Sunday.
  9. The insulation tape was great! Really helped. I actually used white silicone sealant. Put that over top of the black spots of silicone the orange lens sat on. The whole job was very messy and if I was doing it again I’d have probably taken my time even more. I also left the inserts grey because I forgot to buy chrome paint and once I’d started, just wanted it over with ? Will get them fitted soon and expecting some improvement in aesthetics. However once it’s respray time I’ll be very likely buying a genuine set. ? Thanks again for supplying the bits needed for it. Much appreciated. The diffuser lens pattern is a very close match indeed ??
  10. That sounds great, thank you for the offer. One I’ll undoubtedly take you up on! We actually spoke on the phone couple months back now regarding the respray I was originally planning for this year, this whole lockdown thing along with the wife being furloughed has thrown a bit of a spanner into that plan though. So all being well, one for next year. Needs doing, and I can’t wait either lol. Think it’s going to make all the difference in the world with fresh paint on ?
  11. Yeah Richard’s car looks fantastic. Excited to get this fitted but definitely better to wait for my respray. Otherwise I’ll no doubt make a hash of painting it myself ? Got some other bits I can get on with. Have those rear lights to fit, have some new coilovers to fit, some new wheels to go on... plus a power steering fluid leak to investigate ? (less fun). Haha.
  12. Oh yeah, did this too: I bought this Stillen lip from Mike Feeney about 6 months ago. No plan on fitting just yet, waiting for a full respray which is now looking like a job for next spring/summer. BUT... thought I’d offer it up just to see what I think of it... I’m a fan ? desperately needs to be red, but adds a bit more presence to the front end ?? Now I think I’m on the hunt for some Stillen skirts ?
  13. Ha! Well I don’t know about that. But hey, a compliment is a compliment so I’m gonna take it. Thanks man! ?
  14. Hi all. Just shared on Facebook but thought I’d show some love to the forum, too. So today I spent about 5 hours (!!!) playing around with my old 89 spec taillights in an attempt to create some 99 spec replicas. Firstly, I wouldn’t recommend doing this. Horrible job haha. However i suppose I’m relatively happy with the outcome. Few pics attached. Nothing special. Haven't fitted them yet, maybe a job for tomorrow, though ? Hope you’re all well?
  15. Nothing to the zed per se. But I did receive my newly purchased dehumidifier for the garage ? A little winter pampering of sorts. Has another benefit of not only removing the moisture from the air but warming the garage up too! Win win.
  16. Thanks very much for the explanation and tips ? A job added on the To do list ?
  17. How’d you clear the orange? ?
  18. Very sad news indeed. RIP Mike
  19. Yeah fair enough. Good to see you still have it, though. So is your black one in the avatar your main zed? Got a thread on that one? (Just enjoy seeing people's progress/stories with their cars). Cheers
  20. Hi Ali Curious, do you still have this zed? Your plan in 2016 was to be roadworthy by 2017. Is she roadworthy? Cheers ? (or did you sell/break?)
  21. Think I could live with that ? thanks for sharing ?
  22. Thanks gents! Appreciate you taking the time. Doesn’t look as daft as I thought it would! Which is good ?
  23. Hi all I’ve recently bought some 18” wheels for the zed that I’m not fitting until I purchase a set of decent coilovers (at least that’s current thinking). However, I had a set of Meister R coilovers on my last zed and being honest, I prefer the ride on oem suspension. So I wondered, does anyone have any photos of their cars with 18” wheels and standard suspension? ? Would like to see if it looks a little weird (how I think it might look) or if it’s passable ? cheers! (Random pic of my car... for no reason at all ?)
  24. Are people generally just selling less since this new site went live? Or is it more a case of people don’t know where to list their parts for sale? Orrrr could it be that I don’t know where to find parts for sale now? ???‍♂️
