Sorry, should have just Googled that one. Right o2 sensor. So next question, how do I check the sensor connection? Assuming that's all it is.

Hi guys Ok I've just been and checked for ecu fault codes using the ecu led method. I have fault code 53 showing up. Anyone know what this is and what would be likely to cause it? As for the strong smell of petrol mentioned above, the car has an aftermarket decat full exhaust fitted. Would this code 53 be the reason for safety boost? Thanks in advance!

Lovely... Oh well, least I'm learning some new things :) Just need to get these things sorted then enjoy her properly! will try to suss out the fault codes later on.

Side note, 2 (i think only 2) of the warning lights on the dash aren't illuminating. I believe they're supposed to be the seat belt, and door open lights. (see below) also, this is the lead the seller chucked in with the car... not much use to me though is it? :

Thanks both Silly as it sounds, just been out to the car (lunch break) and tried with a paperclip to short it out. The socket in mine is the other way up than the one in the video. So did top left instead of bottom right (the 2 pins to short)... BUT... I can't seem to do it. Maybe the bloody paperclip is too big, I don't know, but the check engine light doesn't flash. However, when I first switch the car to ON, the "POWER" light flashes for a few seconds, then goes out. This normal? I'll take the wooden panel off later on and use the other method to see what fault code its throwing up.

Thanks mate, will give these a look over later on. The guy I bought it from has said: If you disconnect the battery for 30 mins it will reset the fault code. He then tells me how to reset the alarm system after doing so. Is this a good idea? Thanks

Also worth mentioning there's a strong petrol smell when you boot it... Don't know if this is normal either! :(

Morning gents. I'm on the lookout for my childhood dream car, 300zx, needs to be a manual TT and needs to be 2+2 seater. After a couple weeks of searching I've realised you get a better deal on the imports, but is there any reason to avoid a jap import? I've seen a nice looking manual TT LWB, it's an import and has some rust on the offside rear arch but I'd be happy to have this repaired. Also, the car is listed as a 1991 (imported in 2001) yet is on a G plate. Can this be right? G reg cars are usually 89/early 90. Is there anyway an imported car if manufactured in 91 could be on a G plate? Thanks for any advice or tips in advance, all are welcome and appreciated. Cheers
