What did you do to your zed today?
Today, I thought I'd have a go at dying my shagpile mats black. After a couple months of unsuccessfully searching for some good condition shags in dark grey, I decided to dye the ones I have in an attempt to improve the look of the interior. Here's the before (taken right after a good wash) : http://rs107.pbsrc.com/albums/m315/brettgee/Mobile%20Uploads/tmp_16253-DSC_0109102575772.jpg~320x480 As you can see they are the lighter grey kind and to me too light for my liking. I read somewhere that someone had successfully dyed their car mats using Dylon fabric dye that you add to your washing machine.... Well as my mats were already grey, adding a black dye can do one of only 2 things... 1. Turn them black, or 2. Turn them a darker shade of grey. Either way I think I'd be happier with them. So I buy the dye, read the packet, then learn that a whole pack of Dylon black dye will successfully transform 1kg of fabric from white, to black. Now as I already stated, a darker shade of grey and I'd be happy so decided to whack both mats in at once even though it weighs considerably more than 1kg. So, 2 hours in the machine on a 40 degree cycle, then a 45 minute rinse to clear excess dye from the mats, and here's the result!: http://rs107.pbsrc.com/albums/m315/brettgee/Mobile%20Uploads/tmp_16253-DSC_0110986419764.jpg~320x480 They're bloody red!!

Rust repair (Kent area)
See Fantastic, it was actually crash corrections that was recommended to me today at work so that's reassuring. However Minster is closet still! Lol. Will run it in there for a rough price this week then :) - - - Updated - - - See Fantastic, it was actually crash corrections that was recommended to me today at work so that's reassuring. Rust repair (Kent area)
Yeah I suppose Kent as a whole is not quite local, just wanted to see if on the off chance anyone would recommend somebody within 20 or so miles from me. I have however had a bodyshop recommended to me by a guy at work, and that's within 2 miles of me. So will be popping over this week for a quote. :)

Thanks for the reply. I'll do the torch trick this week then...fingers crossed it's not too bad. Appreciate most bodyshops should be able to sort the arch, just wondered if anyone had any recommendations.

Rust repair (Kent area)
Hi gents I have some rust bubbling up on the OS rear arch, as well as 2 small blemishes at the base of the rear window. They're not terrible just yet but they do bug me and obviously don't want it to get out of hand. Does anyone in the Kent area have recommendations for a good/fair priced panel repair shop?

Too many knobs...
Seriously stuck! I hate the cheap tacky gear knob that's currently in my car, but it's the only one I have. Looking to buy a new replacement and for the life of me cannot decide on one! I'm somewhat tempted by something like this http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=181790221977&alt=web However the seller needs me to provide dimensions of a standard gear knob for him to figure out the depth of the bore etc... Frustrating Has anybody got any recommendations for decent aftermarket gear knobs? .

Thanks mate, they've definitely grown on me! Car could do with being lowered about 20-25mm just to make it look right, but that's for another day :cool3:

This is the type of answer I was looking for and expecting. Any recommendations?

Polishing with WD40...
...Anyone tried and had success with this? My exhaust could use a nice polishing up and someone at work told me WD40 along with a scotch brite pad would do the trick. So any experience with this or other suggestions would be welcomed :) Cheers
