Brexit Poll
Option 2 from my previous post then. All bark and no bite. I would genuinely love to see the so called sleeping lion awake, but I believe its just an anachronism, a hark back to days gone by when we made stuff and had an Empire. Which just will not return. We were a global financial powerhouse, whether we remain so is the question, but £1.2trillion of financial assets have already been moved out of the UK. I totally agree with Si (hi by the way mate), but the pair of us were fervent remainers in here. Brexit is happening no amount of discussion and moaning will change that, so I suspect, Si like I is hoping it will work, but struggling to see how. So far pretty much everything I have predicted to do with Brexit has been correct. So here's the next one for you. At the next general election Labour will offer an Europe referendum if they are elected. I also believe by 2030 will be applying to re-join, sadly without the influence and standing we had. Other than that politics aside hope everyone on here is doing well. May be a little while before I'm back in a Zed something else in the garage now :)

Brexit Poll
Many apologies as well if I've offended anyone. Never my intention, but I do like a good debate and I am genuinely interested in other peoples point of view. In my defence I did post in the non Zed discussion bit :D Kind regards to all and I have found myself looking a Zeds again recently so you never know lol

Brexit Poll
Totally agree within 5 years there will be conversations about re joining, referendums and the advantages of being a common market. Within 10 years we will be re applying to join. Hands up all those who think we will get as good a deal as we had! The way I see it, there are currently only 2 possible outcomes for 2021 with regards to Europe. Boris sticks to his guns we walk away without a deal, he is then forced to break the signed treaty and international law with regards to Ireland. This will result in a hard border between the Irelands as Europe will not allow free movement of goods and people from a third country. The knock on effect is the impact on the Good Friday agreement, resulting in, as has already been stated, America refusing to negotiate a trade deal with the UK. So we will have stuck 2 fingers up at the biggest trading block in the world and on the way out stuck two fingers up at the biggest economy in the world. We currently flip flop with France for 5th or 6th largest economy in this scenario I can see us dropping to 9th or 10th due to the lack of frictionless trade. Option 2, Boris realises at the last moment his game of bluff cannot work, the only real card we hold is the fishing rights which are no good to us but could cause up to 1/3 of European boats operating in our waters to go out of business ( I can only surmise how popular that will make us). If this is the case the way forward is to capitulate and accept what the EU is offering. We will become a satellite state abiding by their policies and rules, but with access to the benefits of the common market. At this point not only will Boris have thrown away our position and power within the EU, but he will also have failed to deliver any of his promises about leaving. We will truly be all bark and no bite. This unfortunately for our economy is now the least worst option. Neither way is a good way, but we have played Russian roulette with our economy and at each twist and turn Boris has put another bullet in the chamber and just keeps pulling the trigger denying that the inevitable will happen, Well its here folks so best of luck as they say

Brexit Poll
Couldn't agree more Si. Don't forget though when Boris walks away in October with his "Australia" deal ( which is cover up speak for NO deal) we will have our sovereignty back and all the fishing rights (would be handy if we had a fishing fleet). On the bright side our truckers, for the cost of the slight inconvenience of buying a special passport to get into Kent, will be able to enjoy a 2 day break with 6999 of their best mates whilst waiting at customs. My prediction right now is in the first quarter of 2021 Boris will resign citing health issues. He will say he hung on long enough to get it past the post, but due to the long lasting effects of Coronavirus he is not fit enough to continue. He will then walk away from the apocalyptic recession he has caused leaving some other poor sod to watch the conservatives flounder until they lose the next general election. Right there you go I've poked the bear.

Fastest Pitstop World Record - 1.82 Seconds
I remember about 20 years ago I was on a management team building course and one of the exercises was to assemble an 8 piece large wooden shape. Teams of 4. Our instructor was blown away with how quick my team did it, recorded us at just over 7 seconds. Uploaded to their head office and we had the second fastest time ever recorded. Beaten by - you guessed it - a formula 1 pit crew who did it in just under 5 seconds. I would have bet every penny I had that it was impossible to go faster than we did, we never put a foot wrong. These guys are inhuman - hats off to them and always hugely impressive to watch.

Giant caterpillar?
Nope its definitely a cockchafer larva Also known as a May bug as you generally only see them in May. They live for up to 5 years underground before coming to the surface if you've dug that one up it would have matured next May. And I have no idea why I know crap like that!

Well - it's gone now
It's San Marino Blue, which should be an exclusive M6 colour, but I do have a friend of mine who used to work for BMW and obviously knows the people to shout at as her 330e is that colour
-
Well - it's gone now
Thanks Guys It's the competition pack as well for when you absolutely must have 600 horses. I have a feeling I might get a loyalty discount at my local tyre place as it will spin up pretty much anywhere anytime if you want it to. Weirdly getting rid of the Zed is a bit cathartic , I've dribbled so much money into it and got nowhere near the smiles per mile I should have done so cutting the cord feels like the right thing to do. I know I'll never find another shortie slicktop TT manual widebody but already in the back of my mind is the feeling that a standard (ish) TT might be a good thing to have and keep. So watch this space as they say.

Well - it's gone now
The Zed has gone! Exchanged in a piece of horse trading for a new filtration set up for my borehole. Swapped for about £5000 worth of kit. I was trying to be sad but still got the grin from the new daily

Brexit Poll
I might have worded that wrong, what i mean by unintended consequences is things that happen as a direct result of you making a decision that you didn't realise would happen. The "didn't realise" in this instance is because we weren't told, not that people in power didn't know, and i didn't make that bit clear. In business or indeed life, decisions are generally made after you have learnt all that you can, or at least after you have weighed the pros and cons. Any decision any sane person makes at that instant is the right decision because you have weighed all the information available. When new information comes to light you may or may not change your mind. My problem here is the information was available, but we as the public, weren't given it and were still asked to make a decision. This is still going on as proved by the Yellowhammer document. I'm very much with Si here, we will never have all the information to make a totally informed decision, so if we are asked to make a decision it has to be the path of least risk. Any else is a gamble plain and simple. You are correct in saying we don't know exactly what will happen, but we do know some of it. The pound has already fallen. Trillions has been moved by investment houses from London to Dublin Japanese car manufacturers have pulled out of the UK We have spent Billions of taxpayers money trying make Brexit happen and will spend Billions more - so taxes will have to go up. My feeling is that in 10 years with the right political leadership we could be back to where we were economically in 2016. But we don't have the right leadership now and the next lot lined up (Corbyn) is wrong as well. So add 5 to 8 years to sort that out and we are looking at a 15 to 18 year period of uncertainty and possibly recession. Everyone who voted did so because they wanted something in particular and I appreciate that you will very rarely change someones political view by discussion. Something significant has to happen to change peoples minds. The Government seems to think though that we are not allowed to change our minds. How many years have to go past before we are allowed to question if the referendum result should still stand, 3,5, 10 a 100? I've said it before and I stand by it - we should have a second referendum, and if the result stands, I like many remainers will bow out graciously and say I gave it a shot but democracy has voted against my personal belief. My problem is though, that so much has happened and come to light that I just don't believe the public as a whole still feels the same way and I think we should find out.

Brexit Poll
I understand that and everyone votes for the things that are important to them, but if you knew as an unintended consequence your town would have no drinking water for 2 days a week for 6 months would that have made you think differently. It's the unintended consequences that cause the problems. For example net migration into the UK has fallen, something which many people perceived to be a problem, and was a significant trigger to vote leave. However the reason it's fallen is because the pound has plummeted in value and financially it's no longer attractive to come here, work and send money home. The unintended consequence is your holidays abroad are now 20% more expensive. That one's an easy one to follow, but the more you look at it the scarier it gets, and then add into the mix the current administration are trying not to tell the public what will happen whilst rushing headlong into it.

Brexit Poll
Hi Folks Yes i'm still lurking! and of course still here with my soapbox. I see that a redacted version of the operation yellowhammer document has been released. Curiously lots of things that publicly they deny will happen and are saying that "remoaners" are spreading fear about they are actually planning for. Key points being. Food and fuel prices to rise with lower income brackets disproportionately effected. Choice of foods available to reduce (particularly fresh) Flow rates of goods into the country from channel ports to reduce by 40-60% from day one. With lorries taking 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 days to clear customs. Availability issues with medical supplies, both human and veterinary, seriously impacted on our ability to control any epidemics. Civil unrest. Some sort of hard Irish border is inevitable. Significant impact on financial and legal cross border services - potentially leading to more organised crime. "Some" businesses will cease trading. Further down the document and admittedly low risk is the consideration that the chemicals used to treat our tap water could become in short supply leading to areas with no safe drinking water. A comment from an MP states is reads like planning for a war or natural disaster and we are doing it voluntarily. Strangely its very similar to the version leaked to the Times, which the current team at number 10 claimed was written prior to Boris and down to disgruntled former ministers ( since disproved). The big difference being the leaked version was labelled "Base case scenario" this one is labelled "Reasonable worst case planning assumptions" Still don't worry at least we will have our sovereignty back! Which ever way you voted can you honestly say you made an informed decision?

Job Lot
Just gauging interest for a friend really here and pictures and more info to follow. He has the following which he would like to get rid of in one go. LWB JDM TT manual, the car is red with cloth, 12 months MOT, zedworld chip, boost controller quick shift box, weird feeling clutch, brakes squeak a bit and judder slightly under load. body is sound and looks a nice tidy car. LWB UK TT manual, black with leather, no MOT at the moment, dried stored for 3 to 4 years, some jacking damage and has had a small amount of rust sanded back and treated on the drivers side rear arch. The car looks solid and wouldn't take much to get through an MOT in my opinion LWB UK TT parts car (this is my old breaker) still has some big ticket items on it, Brembo front brakes, race logic traction control, full set of blue glass (although it has an aftermarket purple tint) coilovers and lots of little bits 2 dead TT engines , one is my old one so piston 6 is knackered and some heat damage to 3 4 and 5 possibly judging by the plugs, good block and good low mileage turbos, possibly a good place to start on a forged build. the other one I know nothing about. one set of leather seats possibly more. I have to stress this he wants to get rid of the lot in one go to make room in his workshop, he really will not be interested in anyone saying " have you got the passenger window switch" He may sell the cars individually, I'm not sure. He is a really decent guy, just fed up with the idiots you get when you try and sell one of these If anyone is genuinely interested I'm more than happy to put you in touch

Brexit Poll
This is the problem that most people haven't got their heads around ( no disrespect Tony, but people just don't realise) Zero tariffs on both sides of the border doesn't work. The idea of tariffs are to level the playing field for the consumer so both foreign made and domestic made products compete on an equal footing. Due to a variety of factors such as local taxation, labour cost exchange rate etc the cost to produce essentially the same product in different countries will vary vastly. This is where tariffs come in, we may import something and add a tariff or not to make the final retail price "fair" it's the same when we export. So we might import product X add 25%, but we might make the equivalent product and when exported it has no tariff on it to make the price fair at both ends. So firstly you have to get on with the people you are trading with, then most crucially you have to negotiate the tariffs on every single item to be traded. This is why it takes a huge amount of time, and of course it's never exactly right at the first pass and is constantly under review. A perfect example of this is the fact that although we joined the EU in 1973 "booze cruises" to Calais and individuals importing UK spec cars from European countries, because of the savings to be made, were commonplace until the early 2000's. It took that long to get the balance right! Nancy Pelosi has stated that even if the Republicans get in for a second term, the UK still might not see a finalised post Brexit trade deal within that administration due to the work involved. Of course if there is a change of ruling party, the some of the negotiations would have to restart. In addition there is no country in the world that trades exclusively under WTO rules. They are the default position and the best of a bad job. Imagine its raining you have to drive to work, your choices are the car with no brakes or the car with completely bald tires. That's WTO rules. Some of you will get to work! The comments that these politicians make about countries knocking down our door to make deals after Brexit may or may not be true, but when the deals will take years, and in some cases tens of years to finalise, does being first in the queue really make a difference?

Brexit Poll
So 29 people from a party with no manifesto, elected as a protest vote, are now being paid £7,599.14 per month of our tax payers money until we leave the EU. No responsibility, no repercussions and actually no say in what actually happens in Brexit as none of them actually sit in our Parliament. Here's a direct quote from Farage "I know how to butter my own bread" Now I voted remain, but i lost and I accept that, that's democracy after all, and had we left in 2016 then fair enough. We would be currently fudging our way through the lies and untruths that have since come to light, fair enough! BUT! We haven't left yet, and the cold hard fact of the matter is that the Brexit that was promised in 2016 does not and cannot ever exist. Knowing now what we do i firmly believe we should have a second referendum. As far as what Brexit means not only has the game changed, the pitch has been moved and someone has nicked the ball. I am not totally against Brexit (although my personal belief is that it's a mistake), if we voted for it the we should do it. What I am dead set against, and i believe any sane person should be, is pushing through a Brexit which is nothing like the one voted for or worse a no deal Brexit. Referendum or remain is the only sane choice at the moment. Keep in mind the people advocating no deal are the ones set to financially benefit from it. We are 18 miles from the largest economic block in the world and it's buying power. We have voted to separate from it, which I sort of understand with the wish to go it alone, but we have just voted to piss it off, which i really don't get. When we leave and automatically default to WTO rules our exports will be subject to tariffs making them less competitive. The ruling Government is then faced with a stark choice, place tariffs on imports to help UK industry and thus making the cost of living rise or no tariffs keeping the cost of living down but crippling UK industry. The truth of the elections are that we are still a divided nation currently a single issue political system. Everything is about Brexit. It needs to stop. As the old saying goes "there are lies damned lies and statistics" I don't wish for a second referendum because I hope the vote will be different, I want it because I believe so much has changed we should have the chance to be absolutely sure before we undertake possibly the biggest economic and political change since we joined in 1973. Most of us have lived our entire lives in the common market we have no memories other than that so how do we know what it will be like. I actually have a memory of the last enforced power cut in early 1973 thinking my Dad was amazing rigging up a car battery to give light in the house when the power went out. Strange times people.

Selling JDM SWB TT Manual Slicktop
Hi Folks Looking to sell my Zed As per the title JDM SWB TT Manual Slicktop Not a car for the purists I'm afraid Sadly I'm just not enjoying the car anymore and although I recently spent a chunk on it again it's time to move on. Briefly the engine has forged internals, 555 injectors and hybrid turbos. Coilovers, strut braces and 3 inch straight through exhaust. Both seats in excellent condition as they had been recovered in grey leather prior to me owning the car. Full belt change and service less than 200 miles ago. Now running a stand alone ECU , that , sorting out a few other issues and Dyno time cost nearly £2K a couple of months ago. Dyno print out to show 361.6bhp at 6080 revs with 499.7Nm peaking at 4446rpm This was achieved at just under 1 bar boost so there is plenty more to be had if you want to go that way. Power delivery on this map is far more linear than most so it will give you a good shove without the "pick your hedge" moment that it used to give me. Whilst on the Dyno it killed the exhaust (wadding everywhere) so it's just had a custom built 3 inch from the downpipes back exhaust at a cost of £800. No rot anywhere on it. The car is by no means perfect, it needs a respray as the paint is very faded in places and it picked up some damage to the front lip whilst on a trailer (nothing serious an hour with filler and sand paper) It looks better in the pictures than in real life. Drivers side door speaker doesn't work ( loose wire, as it did work previously) With a respray it would look incredible I think. Why am I selling? Well today I was due to do some rolling half mile runs on an airfield and stupidly left the filler cap of when I filled up at the petrol station, so couldn't run as I was losing fuel. I know that doesn't sound a lot but it was the straw the broke the camels back, it seems that something thwarts me every time I go to enjoy it. I'm not for a moment saying that I won't have another Zed, but right now I just want to clear the decks a bit. I'm open to sensible offers, but I'm not going to give it away. In my opinion its a good solid car and could easily be the basis for something special with a few hours and a few quid put into it. I'm not trying to hide anything, it is what it is and obviously I would recommend viewing if you are interested. It will have 12 months MOT on selling Any questions please ask Having said that it is the "rare" one being the a shortie, manual, slicktop and twin turbo. Forgot to say it's a 92 car so the last year before catalytic converters and obviously the colour isn't standard it's a candy apple red.

Brexit Poll
Don't panic so far we have managed to secure post Brexit trade deals with the following countries - and I kid you not this is the truth Switzerland Norway Israel Chile Iceland Dominican Republic Trinidad and Tobago Jamaica Mauritius Madagascar Papua New Guinea Zimbabwe Faroe Islands Belize Guyana Bahamas Liechtenstein Barbados Suriname Seychelles Antigua and Barbuda Fiji Dominica Palestinian Authority St Lucia St Kitts and Nevis Grenada Good to see all the economic powerhouses are in there and that our trade secretary clearly didn't prioritise hot and sunny places when visiting for negotiations

Brexit Poll
Just re read some of my previous posts on this thread and I'm beginning to think I should have been Mystic Meg when the lottery first started. Interesting comment made on the radio yesterday and I am paraphrasing a little here. " These politicians who are claiming we will take back control of our economy, borders and laws, who are currently making a complete hash of the process, will be the ones in charge of our economy, borders and laws if we leave. Just have a think about that for a moment."
