  2. Err I think she was asking about which lights should come on when - not just that the headlights were cr*p. I'd go out and take a look at the different switch positions / lights coming on just now but it is royally micturating down here. doesn't sound right to me, tho' Oh and if you want a good sprayer in Lincolnshire, try Gary Bellamy +44 (01529) 241474 Sleaford. Hope it's close to Cambridgeshire :D Wings - new from MJP Auto or the other Traders here in the Trader section. HTH - Gio.
  3. Yes it's a VG30DE - so please be careful. This engine (the NA) was never officially imported into UK so "official" garages wouldn't know about it. Only - as has already been suggested above - Z specialists will know it. For general servicing, maybe OK but for anything serious, Z specialist only.

  5. On their classic scheme a) they won't do more than 8,000miles per year and b) they won't do business use and c) it's "intended" for second car use. I asked for a quote based on my 12,000m and business use and daily driver and they said that didn't qualify.

  8. Certainly does, mate, thanks. Some last questions: Can you fit a Cat 1 remote + receiver to the existing system? Can you fit a Cat 1 thingy to the Z so it still does remote locking, boot lock and interior light? Have you got any work planned down in London in the not-too-distant? Cheers - Gio
  9. here you go http://tech.aus300zx.com/headlight_disassembly/headlight_disassembly.htm and http://tech.aus300zx.com/headlight_removal/headlight_removal.htm
  10. It's given in the model comparison table http://www.300zx.org.uk/model_variations.htm I've seen that too, somewhere, and will try to find the reference to post here. I accept you're right, Bob. Would you be surprised to hear that out of 8 or so insurance companies I contacted, all except one are happy with this Nissan factory fit being Cat 1 and the other one thought it was only Cat 2? In an ideal world, I'd like to keep the functionality of the OEM system (and the keyfob if poss) and just add something to make it Thatcham Cat 1. Is that possible?
  11. Graham, the site claims "PROGRAMMING Price INCLUDES programming instructions for training the vehicle to recognize the remote." but I ain't tried it yet!
  12. Thanks, mario, I shall pop off and search ebay. Does anyone know if it was a Cat 1 immob/alarm on the 300ZX like on the qx? (Series 3 ZX onward, obviously :D )
  13. Ooh that's interesting. I found a US site which claims to sell them (and non-Nissan replacements) here http://www.keylessride.com/order/quote.asp?lbfix=yes&make=Nissan&remoteyear=1993&model=300ZX&frid=46999850 but they haven't replied to any emails yet...
  14. I've seen a couple of questions here about the Nissan OEM remote locking as fitted to the Series 3 and later (Sept 93 onward as you can see here http://www.300zx.org.uk/model_variations.htm ). 1) Is there an alarm as well as central locking? 2) Does this OEM locking count as Cat 1 or 2 or anything Thatcham? I've used the searchy thing but have only come up with a couple of guys asking the same type of questions! http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=76673&highlight=remote+locking http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=49370&highlight=remote+locking TIA - Gio
  15. White VW beetle 1962. Never let your old man get you your first car as that's what he inflicted on me. My mate bought his first car same time, same price, also B reg but his was an MGB Roadster. Q: who pulled more birds?

  18. Don't know about Canada but if you check our traders' forum here you will see a bunch. Plus two well known US ones are http://www.conceptzperformance.com/ and http://www.courtesyparts.com/
  19. If the problem started after the "converter" was put in, then remove it and see if you get the same problem. There are good and bad converters and also good and bad installers. If you check the wiring diag (on line manual here http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.cgi ) you can see that the ECU and speedometer are connected to many sensors (eg ECU, power steering, HICAS, gearbox just to name some). Despite a lot of research, I have yet to find ANY one offering to fit a converter who could fully explain how it did its job properly on a Zed. Like most things with this car, it's far from simple.
  20. If you look here http://www.geocities.com/z_design_studio/transmission_300zx_tt.html it seems he's not getting to that speed. Has it got the OEM speed limiter or some form of electronic converter to change from kph to mph?
  21. hehe problem is, I remember it the first time round. Hand me my zimmer frame and bifocals (still, at least I've got a few years on Bee Gee Vinz :D ). And of course who can forget The land of Fordor, next to the land of Twodor, just up from the Ngaio Marsh.
  22. does that count as a repost? (Ahhh 1973 - happy days  )
  23. It's great fun - "Holy Church of The Order of The Red Breast" http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/3887493.stm and other scam baiting here http://www.scambuster419.co.uk/butcher.htm
