  1. Took the car over to andyp tonight for him to have a look and he sorted it!!!! I have to say thanks to all who offered to help me. Andy continued even in the rain and despite my complete lack of knowledge he diagnosed the problem and fixed it. Top man in my books totally selfless even though he has never met me. I hope that I can return the favour some day. I've waited a long time for this and there are still jobs to do but I'm really happy....oh and so is the car...tail happy that is!!! Rob :duffer: :duffer: :duffer: :duffer: PS I need a coil pack!!!!!
  2. I will be mark just trying to get some more hints as to the problem peoples experiences etc....and also to establish a place to get it actually sorted before friday or my time off will not be as planned!!! Rob
  3. incedentally as an incentive to get this problem solved if my car is fixed for the meet on the 29th in the south east I will personally buy every member present the drink of their choice. Thats a promise. Rob
  4. Does the forum have acontact numer for andyp he offered his services and I have PM'd him but no reply as yet. If he can't are you free tomorrow night or tuesday/wednesday. I did the check and got a code 55 doesn't this mean I can't be on safety boost or is it a separate issue?
  5. OK slight boo boo on my part here folks. Just took the car out for a slightly more lively spin and the stock guage goes up to +6 and the aftermarket to about 0.6bar. I'm sorry must have been driving it too slowly before being a bit cautious....are these figures normal....I hope this now means tubs are not seized!! Does sound a bit 'lumpy' I gues it does lead back to the fact that one of the pistons is out of action...it was working before the tub change though. Would 1 piston down lead to such a massive power loss. All of your help is appreciated as always by a complete novice!!! Rob
  6. I wouldn't even know where to start....probably do more harm than good. Do you know anybody who could have a look for me in our area....I'm in Docklands East london. Of course I'll be paying I don't expect anything for free. Rob
  7. Is a seized tub unseizable they were extremely low mileage ones from jaypsc so I'm sure they are ok....
  8. It goes only as far as 0 and not a smidge futher.....
  9. Of course Fook me I'm daft sometimes. It has been suggested that a massive boost leak is the problem. Oh by the way Greg hold those mirrors please if you can!! Rob
  10. Mine is just bugging me now its so close to being right I'm sure but I am baffled as to this continuous bad luck.....no smoke anymore but its 10 times slower than with the screwed tubs!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Did the quick check and the engine check light flashes 5 times slow and then 5 quick...is this bad? Oh and how do I turn the test mode off with the piece of wire?!!
  12. I'm a little too familiar with it already!!! Nothing but trouble but ya gotta love em
  13. Just spoke to mark...great chap he offered to take a look on tuesday but he can't spend too long on it because his workload has him stitched for a month. Can't begin to describe how much this car is annoying me now and I'd just booked time off to use it!!! Rob
  14. That would be amazing mate I can do it tomorrow evening if that ok with you? Where exactly are you....the car drives ok its just slow!!!!! Oh and smelly!! Thanks Rob
  15. I'll have to try and get hold of something to undo the bolts then...I'm always moving around so the minimal amount of tools I have are back in Brum and I'm in an apartment in London at the mo. Is the zen garage near londaon?
  16. He's a great guy but too far away from london mate.
  17. Well the saga continues...got the car back yesterday and low and behold as ever there are problems....to me the car is only performing half as well as it should. Now in fairness to the guy who used it for filming he has put all his trust in a local specialist and they have let him down by doing half a job. He did offer to take it back having dropped it off last night and come back today to have a look at it but I said I'd rather get someone from here to take a look this time. The car is about half as quick as it was with the knackered tubs and I think the best thing would be a conzult to suss things out. It does smell quite badly of petrol and the after market boost gauge doesn't cross 0 bar....neither does the stock one. I know its a big ask but I had booked next week off (25th onwards) to spend some time driving the damn thing and was wondering if anybody on here with some know how could take a look on tuesday or wednesday or poss tomorrow evening? I'm not asking for a free lunch the money to pay for the work is ready and waiting its just I really want this car running properly for the first time. I haven't got a scooby how to check anything myself but am willing to learn if shown. Many thanks Rob PS.spark plugs changed and coil packs checked already

At age 45 you will fall into a vat of neutral shoe polish, and your body will never be recovered.
  19. Thanks for the advice I'll tell the guy tomorrow to do this. Sorry to be a pain all the time but when it comes to engines I'm reaaly only just starting to learn!!!! Rob PS.If its the property market you need help on then I'm your man!!!
  20. Right, finally got the zed back today but nothing is ever perfect in my little 300 world so I'm looking for some re-assurance here. The car is significantly down on power and the exhaust note is different...hard to describe why but it is. The guy who has had the car for the filming and got the tubs sorted reckons that its just a misfire so we bought some spark plugs today and he'll fit them tomorrow which apparently will solve the problem. Apparently all the coil packs were checked and the engine itself was running fine before the turbo change. Can someone re-assure me that there is a good chance that this is the problem or do I need him to look deeper into it tomorrow. If its a problem this simple then my car is finally in perfect order. Many Thanks Rob
  21. I will contact them as soon as I know they are ok mate....very cheap eh!!!
