Well the saga continues...got the car back yesterday and low and behold as ever there are problems....to me the car is only performing half as well as it should.

Now in fairness to the guy who used it for filming he has put all his trust in a local specialist and they have let him down by doing half a job. He did offer to take it back having dropped it off last night and come back today to have a look at it but I said I'd rather get someone from here to take a look this time.

The car is about half as quick as it was with the knackered tubs and I think the best thing would be a conzult to suss things out. It does smell quite badly of petrol and the after market boost gauge doesn't cross 0 bar....neither does the stock one.

I know its a big ask but I had booked next week off (25th onwards) to spend some time driving the damn thing and was wondering if anybody on here with some know how could take a look on tuesday or wednesday or poss tomorrow evening? I'm not asking for a free lunch the money to pay for the work is ready and waiting its just I really want this car running properly for the first time.

I haven't got a scooby how to check anything myself but am willing to learn if shown.

Many thanks

Rob

PS.spark plugs changed and coil packs checked already

Hello Rob,

Easier way to do an ECU check in 2 mins ;) http://www.twinturbo.net/ttnetfaq/FAQpages/ECUdiagnostics.html

Mark (Zen Garage) is Putney way I think :) Where abouts in London are you?

Vijay

Just spoke to mark...great chap he offered to take a look on tuesday but he can't spend too long on it because his workload has him stitched for a month.

Can't begin to describe how much this car is annoying me now and I'd just booked time off to use it!!!

Rob

Did the quick check and the engine check light flashes 5 times slow and then 5 quick...is this bad? Oh and how do I turn the test mode off with the piece of wire?!!

5+5 = 55 no errors detected

you got code 55 which means no fault found read fault codes on here http://www.ttzd.com/tech/diagnostictech.html ive not done ecu check that way but i would guess if you start the engine it will stop it or if you re-attatch the wire it might stop it, but i do stand corrected if im wrong.

Anyway that illiminates code 34 (det-sensor) which would mean the car would of been in safety boost.

where does the boost gauge go up to, when you boot it?

Of course Fook me I'm daft sometimes. It has been suggested that a massive boost leak is the problem.

Oh by the way Greg hold those mirrors please if you can!!

then the tubs aint boosting could be possible you have sized turbo as was case on 1 of my zeds or a huge boost leak check the large pipes either side of plenum to see if any loose you might have to check the intercooler pipes too

Is a seized tub unseizable they were extremely low mileage ones from jaypsc so I'm sure they are ok....

if a tub is siezed they usually had it, if you could unsieze 1 it wouldnt be any good as the bearings would be shot, if they are newish tubs it could be possible a waste gate is stuck open so all the boost is going straight out and not getting into the intake. Take the large pipes off that go to the turbo in there is an impellor check to see if that turns fairly easy with a minimum of play, if the impellors turn the tubs arnt siezed then i would say a boost leak or waste gate stuck open its a pig of a job but it will illiminate the tubs

I wouldn't even know where to start....probably do more harm than good. Do you know anybody who could have a look for me in our area....I'm in Docklands East london.

Of course I'll be paying I don't expect anything for free.

Are you sure they replaced the knackered tubs????

I`m no expert but if they frigged the wastegates open permenantly wouldn`t that give the same symptoms? The tubs wouldn`t smoke cos they wouldn`t be boosting and the car would be dog slow.

Is your boost gauge working at all?

As said above, a seized turbo would give you no positive boost so the needle would only reach zero :( It happened to me an turbos had to be replaced :(
