  1. Your car's been off the road longer than you've owned it....lol ;) I'll try...I do really want to get my car finished. I have a huge list of upgrades and not enough time! LOL
  2. ^^ no thanks. Had enough of women and their problems for quite some time now! LOL I'll think about it Sarah. It's not the same when you don't have your car with you. Even though I am going to the US...I can't take my car whereas I could take my car to Z008 if it was up to how I want it.
  3. My car ain't gonna be done by then. If it were June, I'd have the thing in the condition that I really want it. Don't even think my suspension will be on my Z008 and I'm picky about people looking at it when I know it's not right for me. Would rather hide it away in the garage! LOL
  4. Unsure what to do. I've been umming and arring regarding going to the States for a few Z festivals this year. I was originally going to Turkey with my girlfriend at the beginning of next month. Well, I've decided to knock it on the head with her due to me not being able to cope with her personal issues. I've decided I am not going to go to Turkey, even though I've paid for it. ANYWAY, this has left me at a bit unsure as to what way I want to go. I now have the option of going to the big mid-west Z festival in Branson Missouri in the second week of May. So I'd go for Wednesday (fly to Fort Smith) till Sunday. Reasoning behind this is that I have the 'possibility' of driving one of the 3ZC moderator's cars (as he has a number of them) across state in a large convoy from Oklahoma to Missouri. Which should be fun. BUT, now that I am not going to Tunisia in August, I am now thinking about going to the Zcon in Cleveland (Ohio). To which I'd fly there, then take an internal flight and head off down to California again. I'd only be able to do this if I don't go to Branson as I'd be out of holiday time. I can't decide what to do. I might be going to JAE too time dependant!
  5. Dinner usually, sometimes tea, rarely supper.
  6. So you're getting aftermarket rims that were originally destined for a Skyline?
  7. I wouldn't suggest foaming out the bolsters, I'd concentrate on the seat squab (base). You'll loose the shape of the bolsters by covering them in foam.
  8. Yes and they look good! Graham S's car. I've seen better photos of them than this of his car but can't find them, but it gives you an idea.
  9. ...as for weight, well, I personally don't think it's that heavy. Weight-reduction junkies will of course argue otherwise. But something that weight in a car that big IMHO would make any difference. I'd say a roll a door. IE, a bag of sugar in each corner of the car.
  10. Dave, as you know, access to the inner skin from the door frame is really difficult. But I managed to cover a lot of it buy simply cutting sections, rolling them up loosely, putting them through the cutouts and carefully unrolling it inside spreading it out. I just layer it up too. The more layers you put on, the more it works. You MUST clean and wax the surfaces it goes on else it'll just not stick. Sticks very well to a polished surface. It's awkward, but doable. I'll have used 3 rolls of the stuff when I'm done. It's called 'Ivanhoe' and is only about £15 a roll. But I've done bits of the transmission tunnel, the rear quarters and completely covered both sides of the retro fit metal speaker mounts. I covered some of the outer sections of the door frame too as much as I could. I have got to do the other door, so I'll take a pic when I'm done. I took out the window runners, cleaned then and regreased them too. I also lined the mount points with little tabs of sound deadening, so you've not got metal touching metal. I still want to replace the little ball socket in the rear window runner to make everything as tight fitting as possible. But I'll probably do that in the summer or something.
  11. It's been stored inside in a dry garage, but yeah, I am sure it's absorbed some. I've got a 350Z brake upgrade planned in a few months time, so the lot will get done then.
  12. It was never actually off the road. Car's always been road worthy (MOT) and in running order. It's the first time I've not taxed it since I've owned it as even in the winter, if there was a mild day with no salt on the roads, then I'd take it out. But since I was stripping and trimming the interior, I thought there was no need to tax it. My Z should be out and about in the summer, but unfortunately the shows always end up happening when I've pre-booked stuff already.
  13. LOL...it was yesterday and is today! Weekend looks pap, but I'll be doing some more wiring and refitting of interior. Just the front seats now that need trimming. :) Itching to get back behind the wheel and take it for a long jaunt.
  14. Got the Z taxed yesterday after being away in hibernation for the winter. I've been working on the interior anyway, so it's pretty bare inside but took it for a spin anyway. Was nice to take it out again. Car was rattling and crashing around due to it having only 1 door card in it and 2 front seats! Sounded terrible. But the door I have completed sounds great though. Door card looks ace, fitted loads of sound deadening in it, replaced clips etc and it shuts with a nice quality thud now. Battery was almost flat but it was enough to get it going. Sounded lovely as Zs do. Realised how much I need to do my suspension as the 'squelch' that comes from worn shocks is much more prevalent with no interior in the back. But I'll leave the interior out of the back until I've refitted the suspension in a few weeks time Was just nice to be out in it again. :) :duffer:
  15. When are you going to get yours painted??
  16. LOL! How was your vacation to Ban Vangmothoum in Laos?
  17. Excellent work there mate!
  18. I prefer the G35 over the Z33. Looks much better from the back too and a little more elegant. Less like the Audi-TT-esque Z33. MUCH much nicer dash too!
  19. Can you forward me that if you have them? I'd like as much as possible. Si
  20. Rear seats are pretty straightforward. You should be able to get both bench and seat back done in an evening. Make sure you buy an eyelet tool and plenty of cable ties. I'd also suggest getting some thin foam and cutting 4 squares for the main seat squab to give the base a bit of life. Front seats...well, I am going to start mine over the weekend, so I'll let you know. But again get some thin foam for the main seat base to give it a bit of life. I have a trim shop doing all my panel work and I pick up the last piece tonight!!
  21. Thought about an N/A? Stick on an LPG conversion. :)
  22. Have you not thought about buying a cheap daily driver? I think half the fun of owning the 300 is the fiddling around with it and getting exactly how you like it. Little upgrades here and there etc. I like the maintenance as if feels like you're preserving something a little special and a little unique.
  23. I find the 350 at the very most, a 'sidestep'. :(
  24. You're finding it tough to afford a 300zx but you want to shell out £15k on a 350z? I know there maybe method in your madness.... ;) but I wouldn't buy a 350Z let alone exchange it for a stunning 300zx such as yours. I find the 350z has no appeal to me what so ever. I don't mind it, but I never really stare at one and go 'look, a 350z'. I'd pay more attention to a Z31! But that's my feeling toward them. Half the appeal to me...infact more than half is the way the 300 loks. Personally don't believe the 350z has any substitute for the looks of the 300zx. The 300zx just has immense road presence, an amazing cockpit and fantastic ride. The 350z has good ride, but doesn't have half the road presence of the 300 nor the cockpit. Nor even the t-tops and the cabrio 350 is really unattractive.
  25. Yup, my mate writes car reviews for a local newspaper and as such managed to get a discount card. Batteries are actually then a reasonable price. Halfrauds markups are insane!
