Anyone running a reverse camera on their Z?
Good idea. You can double it up as a regular camera then. This is what a friend of mine did at one of the Z meets I went to in Los Angeles. Bit of fun. This meet actually was a kick-ass meet, one of the funnest I've been to. Spot the beautiful Stramann TT vert. IAnfiuJBwr4

Anyone running a reverse camera on their Z?
They're nice, but I don't want to drill one in my 99 spec rear panel. If I did drill anywhere, it would be at the very top of the number plate, but that would look out of place.

Anyone running a reverse camera on their Z?
Yeah, trying to find a small one. Probably small angled one that fits under the plate or something. Does it and most headunits work the same way that they'll automatically switch on or over when the reverse camera is activated?

Anyone running a reverse camera on their Z?
Just something I am toying with. I believe my Alpine double din head unit has an input for a reverse camera. I can't find the destruction manual at the moment. There's no option to set it up in the menu, but is it just a case of, plug in the camera and the head unit automatically switches on the screen when it has an input...and/or turns off the current source you're on?

How long to get up to temp?
Yeah, that's kinda what it should do.....base 'optimal operating temperature' when on idle/low revs, it falls below 15psi. They're not that accurate, granted, but that's all you really need to know for good operating temperature.

How long to get up to temp?
Base your 'up to temperature' on oil pressure. I only glance at the temperature gauge. It's the oil pressure gauge I look at to give me an idea of when it's 'up to operating temperatures'. As has been said, the coolant warms up very quickly, but I focus on oil pressure really. Once it's dropped to the correct level, you then know the oil temperature is optimal.

Start of the week off the wall thread
Yup, retire to France....or if I am living in the US by then, there. I have something big in the pipeline with the latter of the two!

leather vs cloth?... Lower ride?
Interesting. I have mixed feelings for both. I spent quite a bit of money retrimming my seats about 5 years ago and love the look over the tweed. There are a few negatives with leather, yeah, they can be hot in the summer months. I wouldn't know about the winter as I never drive it during that season. In addition, leather creeks a little and don't have the sound deadening qualities of cloth. I think if I was to re-do my Z interior again, I would likely opt-out of having leather and go for a 2-tone alcantara type interior. I'd loose that yummy smell and feel though, so there are pluses and negatives to both for me. I'd have leather over tweed any day though. I don't mind the feel of tweed so much, more the look. UK tweed looks nicer than Jap tweed. Here's my before/after shots. The first one looks like a studio shot, that's because it is as back in 2008 (I think), my car was professionally photographed for a 6 page article in 'Japanese Performance' magazine for a buying guide.

Big joint Southern, Western and Welsh meet at Haynes Motor Museum - 1st September
What I suggest is we meet at Podimore services on the A303 and drive down in convoy. Anyone that'll be coming down the M5, we can maybe meet in Glastonbury (just checking on my parents' house whilst they're overseas). Obviously I aim to be in the Z, but should we have weather like last summer I will be in my Jetta (current shape). Suggest a meet up time of about 9.30 and aim to leave by 10. Sparkford (where the museum is) is only 15 minutes from here. I will need to leave by mid afternoon as I need to get to Portsmouth to catch a ferry, but imagine we'll be kinda heading back about that time.

 PMSL! So true!

Fan shroud or no fan shroud
Nope, just looks like an expanse of nothing with a painted fan....plus it's an NA *ducks from any incoming*

Fan shroud or no fan shroud
Personally, I'd leave it on. A, because it does stop anything stray from getting wrapped around it, B, it doesn't look that good without it, looks like the engine bay of 2.0 Carlton. Let's face it, a fan is hardly an attractive part of an engine bay.

Info wanted please
- who uses who with classic insurance please
Mine was 5,000. It shouldn't make that much difference. I suppose I should reduce it, but I'm going to do 1500 in my Z the week after next. Usually I do about 2,000 a year in it. I did under 800 last year as the weather was such horse shit.- who uses who with classic insurance please
They quoted me yesterday...£300. Have no idea why it's more than yours. I'm older than you, have less points than you. Bizarre since I live in the lowest risk on the insurance index list.- Big joint Southern, Western and Welsh meet at Haynes Motor Museum - 1st September
C'mon guys, anymore? There are LOADS of people in the South Central region especially..... lil Stevie, IanL, ...c'mon! Thought you guys might be all interested in a southern gathering. It's like trying to pull hen's teeth! 2 weeks today!- the day i have been waiting for.
No more group ones I'm afraid.- OK..who was it?
hmmmmmm....- my new baby is to loud for me
Does it have centre boxes? Could be a simple case of getting an exhaust shop to weld in two centre boxes, that's usually the cause. - who uses who with classic insurance please
