I'm gonna pressure wash the Merc now just to rub your race in it. ;)

Making the most of all the sheep watching some game of whatever being played later. I anticipate the roads to be deserted! Anyone else making the most of this lovely summer evening and empty roads?

Goodbye Del Boy dodgy imports, hello gorilla imports!
Unfortunately I highly doubt that.

Then he is clearly a waste of time. HE should be doing that as he was the person who sourced it. If that's genuinely all he offered then he adds absolutely ZERO value; he should be removed from the forum as a trader forthwith if this is the case. That's absolutely appalling.

Has he offered anything at all? Even to pay the bills at Jimmer's?

Nice one. Josh is the trader we should have on board. You couldn't be in better hands right now with Josh and Jimmer.

My terrible experience with trusting a so called club Importer to bring in a z32!
The best solution now is to get all the glass popped out, get it stripped and get it painted. If you go with the original silver you won't have to get the bay painted. Replacing those roof trims is going to be hard. I did read they went NLA a few years ago but believe that there are still some in the US. I'd buy those pronto before they do go NLA. KarumaZ make door mouldings. The rest you'd be better off sourcing from a used car such as the boot outer edge seals and door handle gaskets.

I saw it last weekend before I flew out to Texas and was pretty gobsmacked especially considering what was paid for it. When I first saw photos of it, despite the 'brightness' I could see that the paint job was likely to be highly questionable as there was a very clearly an overspray issue, this is something that a bona-fide trader really should have spotted and avoided. 3.5 is not what the car was. I'd suggest it's a 2 at best. Its value was extremely high considering the state it was in and what had been done to it plus the poor/non-existent maintenance which had been carried out prior to Jim rescuing it. I do think the seller/trader has some serious explaining to do. Due diligence was not carried out whatsoever. The shell is decent and the engine has now been made good, (costing YOU extra) , but really only the shell as it was when it was brought over. The paintwork is nothing less than appalling and to get that to a high standard is going to cost thousands especially if you factor in all the seals and weatherstrips that have been over painted. I feel for you you mate. It could be made to be a great car but it will cost a lot to do that. Maybe the seller can come to some sort of goodwill arrangement and offer you some money back to assist you with getting it to a good standard. It is at a great place now though, Jim will work wonders on it and will get it in perfect shape mechanically. I think you should discuss your situation with the committee as a situation happened once before with the same trader with a car that came over with questionable identity. I hate seeing members go through this especially from a 'trader'. Personally, from what I have seen, Josh Lake is able to source far better cars at far better prices and he would be an ideal candidate as an 'official' trader/importer imo of course. He actually has a guy out there looking at cars for him rather than buying blind or irresponsibly.

I have Bosch horns from a Primera P12. They're single pin and fit in the stock location.

What did you do to your zed today?
Just landed in Dallas and finally managed to rescue my brand new OEM 3rd brake light. These went NLA a few years ago but found a chap selling a brand new boxed one he had laying around last year and pounced on it. Absolutely nothing wrong with the one I have, I just wanted a brand new one for brand new one's sake! My one is going to redwine300 for his UK car as a freebie. :) Also picked up some injector adaptors in readiness for my 740s which I intend to fit later in the year.

Those where the days!
I wonder what became of Ryan (Baggins)....I reckon he must have fled the country.

Yeah Danny Zaat was another good guy. He couldn't be anymore helpful. Very good customer service.

Those where the days!
Yeah he was a good honest guy, one of the few traders who everyone liked at a time when we were plagued by substandard folk like SWZ, ZEDTECH and I think even Chris@Getgreddy went off the rails too from memory. He was a really nice guy in person too. I remember a Zedworld Christmas bash I think it was about, 12 or 13 years ago he brought he's car over from the IoM, I think he had some work done didn't he? My memory is failing me!

Haynes breakfast meet
 I'm useless at taking photos and then uploading them. I still have yet to sort through last year's ZCon in Texas let alone getting round to Nissan's Heritage Museum visit near Tokyo March.

Can you guys travelling from the east let me know any convoy meet point?

FAO Znut
Bit of a plane nerd myself, more commercial, but it's all good. Farnborough air show is awesome. Been a number of times and absolutely love it. Enjoy it mate! If ever you get a chance, the one at Yeovilton is also fantastic. F15s litterally tear the sky in half. Next time you're in California, try and go out to Miramar Airbase where they filmed Top Gun. Been fortunate enough to drive a Corvette Z06 down there on full chat. Felt wild.

Those where the days!
When brand new 99-spec rear lights cost £300 delivered. When I bought this, I picked it up from a dealer whilst I was in California (brand new OEM gear shifter), I paid, with discount the sum total of 50 bucks, this was at a time when the US to Pound ratio was 2:1, so essentially, this cost me £25. They're over £120 now I believe, that's an increase of 480%.

Beaulieu convoys - Simply Japanese
Rather than clutter up Howard's thread, just wondering where everyone is coming from? Not sure there are too many, if any coming from Somerset, I have a friend and her father wanting to bring their Z down who are based in Kent. I know Andrew, Gary and Howard meet up somewhere near Croydon; are you guys doing that again this year? Any details would be great to pass on. If anyone is coming from Somerset (Wells, Yeovil, Glastonbury etc) and want to drive down from Podimore services, let me know.

Advice on Maintaining polished aluminium alloys
No as I don't have bare aluminium anymore. A good ceramic coating will prevent bare alloy from corroding. Ceramic coating is actually the opposite of what you suggest. It's there to help keep your paint completely free of contamination making it easier to wash. Ceramic coatings last for a long time meaning you only need to do maintenance washing rather than a full detail.

Advice on Maintaining polished aluminium alloys
Howard, use a high quality ceramic wheel sealant and you'll be fine for a year.
