Some troughts after my attempts to be come a Z trader
That's because quality cars seldom come up. Garry is in the business of supplying better than average cars....but the issue is, in the right spec generally. There's a good reason those 2 silver ones haven't sold and I think the silver one with the rusty arch is worth less than the asking price, so I do agree with you. I agree with the fact that there's a limited market for the higher value cars, but if Garry wants to stay supplying higher value cars, then spec adjustment is the main issue IMO. Lower value, say grade 3 imports, yeah, I am sure he could drop the pricing to between £3.5k and £4.5k...but those cars, the 'OK' cars are the ones that aren't selling IMO. The reasons Garry's I don't think are selling are more than just pricing, it's mainly on spec. Grade 4 cars (grade 4 Z32s are few and far between - as a TT Manual) do command a higher premium and will likely sell (they also go for considerably more at auction in Japan too)...but that's my opinion, but I have seen higher value ones in top condition sell at or above the £5k mark, I know of one recently that went for £7.5k, but I am not going to divulge.

In all fairness, they aren't that great. One has a rusty wheel arch and the other looks like the sills have been compressed on both sides. I am talking good rust free, dent free examples. Neither have engine bay photos, so you can't see if they're both original manual cars and/or the state of the engine bays. The one at JKImports has almost no information on it...AND they're both on ebay...and the other is a private seller so would generally be slightly less than a bonafide trader. Ebay pricing on 'ok' cars is not really indicative of quality fresh imports in top condition.

I think the market is better than £4.5k for pristine freshly imported manual TTs....as there are rarely any on the market (plenty of NA and Auto models though). I think the purple one is actually keenly priced considering year and condition, it just might take time to sell due to it's drivetrain.

My 2 penneth, been in the Z game for a good few years now. The pick of the crop, the spec that everyone wants are twin turbo manuals. This is pretty much where the money is and where the interest lies. Anything else, you're going to struggle to shift as quickly as you want it. The purple TT you have is a lovely car, if it were a manual, you'd likely have double the interest and some. In addition, most people on here that are on the website already have a Z32. Sure, if you're looking for one specifically, then you might come here to view those for sale. Surprisingly, those that are new to the Z game, won't, so you're probably going to be waiting a bit longer for the right person to buy the right car. Most of the noobs we have here generally start of with 'hi, I'm new here, just bought my first Z32' having found the owners club after purchase. Get your cars up on Pistonheads and Autotrader. I also think that you need to focus on sourcing rather than just bringing over and if you're doing that then it either needs to be a TT Manual, some sort of tuner special from someone like Tommy Kaira, Impul, Pentroof etc and also some of the later cars. 99-spec TTs, although appreciate these still have quite high residuals in Japan.

Just bought some 19" BBS LM
Even if they needed a bit of work, I wouldn't mind. You can't get this fitment anymore and new, they were twice what I'm paying for them. They are in good condition though.

Yeah they do, but I will probably change the tyres for wider ones. These wheels would have retailed around £1kea, so it's pretty good value.

A big thanks to Roobarb!
Well, Jon Bentley is coming to visit on Thursday! I will see what additional notoriety we can get gifted to us by him on the Z32! It's a shame Mandy isn't with us to hear of it.

Thanks guys! Rears are ET40 and fronts are ET34, with those widths, it should give me a pretty flush look, especially if I fit 295s at the back and 255s up front. Surprised I chose 19s? I had 19s before....I know there are a few Z32s with 18" BBS LM in the UK, but I don't know of any with genuine 19". Being a 2+2, they fit the proportions nicely. :) The best place in Tokyo or, close to, for Z32 parts...in fact most of Japan is Z32-Zone. Their website is : http://www.z32-zone.com they're also known as fairlady proshop. They are about 50 miles south west of Tokyo in Sagamihara. RHDJapan is based in Tokyo, but are more of a mail-order place.

Best acid or cleaner for dissolving carbon deposits?
Tried cola....useless.

Headlights not sitting flush
More likely that the metal struts that the headlight is bolted to have bent slightly.

Well this is something you've been twisting my arm over for quite some time! :)

Yeah, I think so. I wouldn't normally, but they look nice and I will likely go for the 99/00 red Z nose panel badge too to compliment it.- Just bought some 19" BBS LM
Still 19". There's a tax on top of that. Delivered locally, they'll be close to 300,000JPY. International shipping (likely to be ocean freight to minimise cost) - that's likely to be about £500....then there's tax on landing. Estimate that they'll cost me about £2.5k delivered which is still very good especially since you can't even get this spec anymore. :)- Just bought some 19" BBS LM
I am sure 'some' know and some may have guessed that I don't actually have BBS LM fitted to my Z. Despite never advising that I actually have them, I also have never dispelled that! They are in fact replicas. There are a lot of differences and I can spot replicas a mile off! The story is that I used to have a lovely set of 18" Advan Sienna 3 piece forged wheels. Alas, these were a bitch to maintain as they needed polishing after pretty much every wash and was partly the precursor to my fear of taking my Z anywhere near the rain (well, it's always been like that). The intention was always to get genuine BBS LM, but in the interim, I got some new replica wheels to tide me over for a while. So these have been on my car for slightly longer than I'd have hoped as I've been waiting for the right set of genuine ones to appear. Now I didn't really have a budget, they would cost whatever they cost and was originally going to buy a brand new set. Unfortunately BBS have stopped making the LM in the 9" and 10" sizes @ 5 x 114.3 and are only now available in an 8.5" and 9.5" with our bolt pattern with a less favourable offset. Well, I found a set of near immaculate ones in 9" and 10" in perfect offset (means I can wave goodbye to the spacers) on Japanese Yahoo Auctions, with the help of a Japanese friend in California, I've bought them! Because of the size/weight (they come with tyres also), with shipping etc, they aren't going to cost much less than brand new ones without tyres. But you can't get this spec anymore from BBS so whatever! The LM has always been my favourite wheel. It's one of the highest quality forged wheels you guy buy. Anyway, my replicas with tyres will be up for sale soon and they are virtually unmarked with zero curbing. :)- Headlights not sitting flush
Guess I'm just lucky with mine! lol- Suspension Parts and opinions
God you don't listen do you! LOL YES!!!!!!- Best acid or cleaner for dissolving carbon deposits?
Before I refit my refurbished Brembos, I want to clean up the brake pad rods, clips and springs as I don't think cleanliness were the concern of the brakes' last owner!! They're heavily coated in baked on carbon. Autosol removes a little, but I was wondering if there was a solution for dissolving it away. I have tried Cola before anyone suggests that! lol- Suspension Parts and opinions
Then you need to avoid solid bushings as I've said. ;) Invest in the Z1 arms and their adjustable tension rods (street versions). I ran Powertrix for years and the best thing I ever did was remove it all. There's no way I'd ever go back to solid bushings unless I were to use my car as a designated track car.- Suspension Parts and opinions
The issue with Driftworks is and every other company that supply aftermarket camber and tension parts directly to the UK market is that they're ALL solid joints, ie Midori style. No bushings etc. Personally, I'd steer clear unless you're going to use your car predominantly on the track.- Suspension Parts and opinions
I've already told you what you need! lol- Make my zed look better
MUCH better Lee! good work; you really need to get that front camber sorted and it will have a perfect stance. :)- What did you do to your zed today?
Nothing 'that' interesting, but yeah, the current ones will potentially be up for sale soon. I'll know by Monday what I intend on doing. - Just bought some 19" BBS LM
