UK or Import
This is a big topic - I have both an auto and a TT. IMHO they are completely different cars and it very much depends on what type of driver you are. For sheer thrashing around and driver involvement nothing beats the Manual; however if you are going to be driving a lot of motorway journeys and you want to cruise before a hassl free journey through town then go for an auto. Dont forget the Auto is actually faster to 100 mph as you dont have to keep lifting your foot off the gas. But if you're thinking about upgrading (which you almost certainly will!) expect the box to go pop! import: Folding Mirrors are COOL, no rust as the JAps use volcanic ash rather than salt on their roads, generally better condition, plenty of examples around, can get Short Wheelbase (SWB) 2 seater - a true sportscar rather than GT, power and hold buttons on autobox UK: insurance costs halved, petrol much cheaper as mapped for UK fuel so dont have to fill up with bloody optimax, Wont have to fit an autobox cooler, If someone breaks your window you wont have to wait 5 weeks to get a new one shipped from Japan (blue rather than brown tint), adjustable suspension by puling handbrake up one notch, LWB only, harder to find examples, You have much more reliable history (Watch out for JAp cars with roll cages/ 3 point harness attachments - likely thrashed as part of some crazy Jap's drifting club). but tend to be high mileage. If i were you i would pay the extra insurance and find a good Jap example.

Ideas on Gauges
Right guys, I need your considered advice and expertise; I want to put in three extra gauges in the extra DIN slot so: 1. Where can i get gauges that look STOCK (i.e. same colours and intensity of lighting - completely stock to match speedo). 2. Which gauges are recommended? 3. Most people say go for water temp gauge - isnt the Oil temp the important thing? 4. I was thinking of getting two analogue gauges and one digital readout - does anyone know of any readout that looks like the display in the aircon system on a series II (i.e the Blue digital readout)? Cheers guys

-
Whats the secret?
Just exactly WHY are Jap cars so much more reliable? What are they doing differently andwhy havent all the other manufacturers started doing whatever it is teh Japs are? no one has ever had a serious answer to this question but id love to know!

Newbie
:D Lol you know what though? I would probably argue the Z is more like the JAp equivalent of a BMW 6 Series coupe. - Any better suggestions?

Welcome mate. Well done on keeping the Z going. Its the JApanese equivalent of a Db7 y'know.

I've been buying
Why not have an oil temp rather than a water temp as surely the oil temp is more relevant? how about two dials in the din slot with a honda "Engine Start" button wired in?

Got spongey brakes
I had some problems with my brakes just before Christmas. I took the Z to my friendly local garage and the mechanic goes "I think you've blown a seal". I said - "no - its just some frost on my lip".

superchargers
Look Mate if you really want more power the best thing to do would honestly be to sell your car an buy a SWB Twin Turbo. If you are prepared to wait for a good one you should find a brilliant example of a 2 seater manual before too long. Its obviously a wrench letting go of your old one but make the break - i promise you its worth it. At the very least try out a mildly tuned Twin Turbo and see if its good enough to make the break - once youve tried the extra power you won't look back. The money you save simply buying a good TT rather than trying to supercharge or convert your car will be handy for some tasty mods that'll really make you fly.

Just Survived Car Crash With My Zx Its Written Off
It could have been much much worse - a car is a car at the end of the day bud - be thankful you are OK.

hmmmm bad mornin starting
High tension leads? I had this exact same problem just after my car had been imported - turned out to be a simple fix as the battery lead had been disconnected as it was being shipped over and was subsequently loose.

Great Roads
We should have a thread nominating brilliant roads to drive on - either because they are fast, twisty or have brilliant scenery or pubs along the way!! I'll kick off with an obvious choice - A57 Snake Pass Glossop to Sheffield - stunning scenery with fast open straights, tight moorland bends and heavily wooded sections. It easily becomes impassable when it snows however.

slow to warm up
