ok, well more bad news, garage cant have my car back till wens, so started it this morning and same as usual, lumpy start, stalled again, noisey belt, then after 30 mins of driving noticed the heater wasnt working ( blowing heat) then about another 20 mins later the heat came on??? and it then started to run correctly so parked her up and left her idling for a while then all of a sudden started running like its on 4 - 5 cylinders!! and this happened while i was just looking in the engine bay.............. ;( i got bored so typed in ebay rough running 300zx and found a video with one that sounds exactly like mine... bad injectors and old clips . do you think this is possible? could something have been disturbed during the cam belt and water pump.

Hi Redwine, do you think it could be a IACV issue then, i'll have a go at cleaning it. i hear its a bit of a bugger to get to and remove

The thing i cant work out is when its warmed up and been driven for half hour or so its perfectly fine. this is whats confusing me.....

I totally understand jeff. i think what i will do is check all the hoses that i can get to , and all the plugs ect maybe they knocked something or disturbed a hose. if i have no joy and its still the same , then i guess i'll take it back into the garage and see what they say. Also the new intercooler pipes should arrive tuesday, im hoping its them thats the cause , but as you say its probably not those. if i lived nearby jeff i'd only ever use your services, but im miles away. thanks for your reply. i'll keep you posted. Hi Jeff check AFM seems ok. but car still runs like a bag of shit. it is stressing me out cos ive just paid out 900 quid for a car thats come out worse than when it went in. I took the car back yesterday to have one of the new belts tightened and asked again why its running so bad when i start it from cold. he still said its the intercooler pipes! ive bought new ones anyway as i can see that there is cracks and splits all over them. i think they are the original stock ones so they do need replacing, My worry is this. whats causing my car to run like it is when started from cold? it stalls continuously. one of the belts is squeeking like mad., and the idle is erratic and lumpy, and also when i press the pedal it hesitates before reving, also a loud ticking noise is present now which there wasnt before. it was running perfectly before the work took place. do i go back to the garage a third time? cos by the looks of it if they cant do it right the 2nd time what makes them think they will correct it the third? i dont see how all this has happened from cam belt and water pump change.

Jeff, i had all what you sent me fitted, plus oil and filter change and some other belts. in total with your bits it cost just under £900 book says 4 hours for cam belt change, he said it took him 7! will report back what is the AFM and where is it located? ahhh Air flow meter ;) Regards

Hi Jeff. ive checked all what you guys have mentioned. some of the plugs were slightly corroded so i cleaned them up and put all back together, even checked MAF and used some electrical contact cleaner ( fast drying) still the same, but when i drove down the road the car started running really rough again and then the revs were going up on its own and i had to turn off the car as it was going up and up!!! WFT have the garage done to my car?? i always seem to get ripped off where ever i go. all i wanted was a cambelt and waterpump change and now it seems to have come out worse than when it went in! you'd expect for £900 i would have had a running car! well at least one that doesnt want to drive itself!

Morning everyone, i now have a problem since my came belt and water pump change, this has never happened before so unless its just coincidence or something was knocked during the work undertaken. Get in car this morning, start sit there for 3 mins while windows clear, pull out of my drive half way up road and car just stalls. Busses and all sorts waiting to get by but luckily there was a place behind me. Tried starting but wouldn't just turned and turned without firing for about 5 mins of trying then it started, as from earlier automatic choke still on as it was idling about 1 n half usually afterwards it drops down to just beneaty 1000 but it was rough idling and when I press accelerator as to give it a gentle rev its was misfiring and rough, after 20 mins of driving problem went. Its always been very resposive on revs with no hesitation or lumpyness what could this be? Mechanic thinks iy could be intercooler pipes maybe a split and its sucking in air?? Hi all. Just wanted to say thank you to Jeff TT for sorting the parts for me ;) . And all the rest of you that have helped me with my zed in the past few months. now she's had her cambelt ( pulleys n tentioners) and water pump and oil sender fitted, hopefully now i will be out of trouble for a while and have peace of mind. But i still have this oil pressure problem, even with the new oil sender unit, im still getting a reading of just over 4 when started from cold and then drops down to just above the zero. is there something else i can check? or is that just how its meant to be? oil and filter was changed at the time of the cam belt. looking at the invoice it says 10-40 semi. could it be the oil? Kind regards leeroy ;)

Im not the most cleverest bloke when it comes to diagrams like that but I can see it says idle speed 3, 000 mine always ticks over just under 1, 000 ill give the sender a clean and see if that makes any difference its due an oil change also so maybe that will help, thank you all for your support :) Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk

Check light
Hi all, with regards to my earlier post about sudden rough running I done a ecu code check to see if there was any faults I noticed the dial on the ecu was pretty much all the way to the right so I corrected that and carried on with the code check it came back 55 all clear, can someone tell me if the check light should be coming on while ignition is on then goes off once engine started? Cos ive never seen this light before and I can only imagine that whoever messed with it didnt return the dial to the middle Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
