  1. HaHa  cheers Si  Yes they do  Can you book me in for a cup of tea, I can use it as a pre-booked VOSA approved rest stop
  2. Sorry I missed this post the first time, So I am fine taking it to Bodymech as a repair centre But the vehicle is arguably un-roadworthy for rust. The retest centre... well they will have to **** off... it isn't feasible to do shuttle runs from Notts to Moray for a technicality, this car will be more road worthy that 90% of the rest of the traffic we have after the repairs. I will not get penalised for having high standards and getting 3 MOTs at 3 Garages.
  3. No one on here offered any illicit services Steams, I have dodgy mates in real life :) I don't want to break any laws, just do the right thing, without getting pulled.
  4. Thanks Darren, I will sort out when I will be down over the next couple of days. Gary can you give Bob MantaV8 & Steams some rep please, because V-Buletin thinks I have gone Rep mad and has withdrawn my powers of Rep, and can steams give Gary some please
  5. Everyone on this thread is getting some rep, I love you all
  6. A Sea King does well to pick itself up Spin Doctor, they only have 3200Hp and weigh 9 tonnes, Bob Genie has a better power to weight ratio! The lads would have more luck blowing the car along with the downwash! The plan I have settled on is get the job done properly at Bodymech. How I get there I hadn't decided but "know the laws you're breaking" and all that, a £60 fine is that all Bob? I think I will fill the glove box with crack while I am at it make it proper cheeky midnight run  I will probably book one, which will clear me with a roadside stop, but will an ANPR camera zap me if I am not on the system as MOT'd? Is it worth looking into some sort of http://www.Totally illegal MOTs .com to get me past ANPR cameras in anticipation of getting a proper MOT in 6 weeks?
  7. Terry I like that idea, but will give it 12 hours to properly think through the plan here. Things to do: 1) Check where my rear K Sports are (in the postal system) because it also failed on the stock rear callipers being rubbish. 2) Fit them or collect them at least 3) Speak to my man in Forres 4) Speak to Bodymech 5) Book an MOT anywhere on this line :) 6) Get it to the the resuss ward 7) Future proof the beautiful thing I will sell my ZX10-R or a kidney or something
  8. I would probably risk the drive, I am bending the rules but hopefully not breaking them, if I book an MOT then cancel it or whatever. It is the first step in a genuine MOT process.
  9. Racer, I asked about the original construction and he said they spot weld it. I agree with you over the "Bloke in the garage/pub/street..." Perhaps he is describing the sort of permanence you get from the welds done at "Yee-ha Garage Forres." And the techies are all SKIOS (civvy) but they still drink :pint: :)
  10. Another thing, a bloke passing through the garage, as I kicked **** out of my skirts trying to get them off said "once you weld a car the heat harms the surrounding metal, you get 2 years at best then you are back to square one with rapid onset rust. Is this true? The chew on I had getting the skirts off, I swear they were structurally integral, they were basically chassis.
  11. Yeah, look at the signature picture down there V V V :( £700 plus for an MOT repair at the place it is at, I am feeling, do it once do it properly. I saw them do a repair on a pick up truck, it looked like a repair Jeremy Clarkson would do to a Tank. Spin, I like that idea, I think I am totally in the wrong, and that Lexx is right, but I am not like, going to the shops in an out of MOT car, I am taking it for repair.
  12. My car failed it's MOT on rust, I went elsewhere and it failed again. I had always planned to do a full on, 'glass out' respray at Bodymech probably next summer but can't really afford it at the minute. The car is out of MOT and it is here... Insurance is up in 2 weeks, I am skinto because I just got the mechanical refresh done (K-Sports, Clutch, Cooling) This was because I could only drive it very gingerly as it was, the brakes were crap and the clutch was slipping. But now, it is knackered. I can afford the insurance I planned for that, but any big repair and we are into tins of beans and "please Mr bank manager..." I feel awful, I feel like an idiot, I don't stop telling people how much I love my car blah-blah, but it is now borderline, "spares and repair". The garage it is at could patch it, but it will be an agricultural job, I think were past staples and glue, and into re-constructive surgery with this one. Do I re shell, do I repair, do I retreat :no::sad: And, If I drive it to bodymech for repairs, am I gonna get nicked. I am not taking the piss, I am taking it for specialist repair without MOT. And I will do it between midnight and 8am.
  13. Bob mate, I haven't just failed this MOT, my car is in really poor shape. I am very upset about missing the event and more so my poor car but I think I have to miss TOTB. I will put up a thread with details but I think I am in trouble with this one :(
  14. Sorry bob, incorrect quote ^^^ I was quoting Beardy This forum is awesome, it is so much more personal than a larger forum; even one with as few as 500 active members. I don't know how many are really on here, but it feels like about 60 that chat often. You see it when people fall ill or have other zed or non zed related grievances, the responses you see from the club are not just piss thin throw away comments, they are heartfelt, more so than replies I would get if I was on facebook, populated by my supposed real world friends. For the odd argument or atmosphere you get, (and recent months have been uncharacteristically tense) which are a result of cars that would test the patience of a saint, and people who genuinely care about their zed's and also care about their fellow forum members, you see ten more examples of wonderful club spirit. People driving cross country to help stranded members or deliver parts, or help swap a gearbox. Sorry, I'm not having this forum put down.
  15. What Kev said, there was an issue with Veilside's car???? Possibly, but it wasnt the auto box, it was the speed sensor or something.
  16. Is that little blue shark's fin at low rpm wheelspin or a glitch or something?
  17. That is mad Bob! Aren't you just about Veyron bothering at that spec?
  18. If not, can you sill and MOt a car in time for TOTB
  19. Haha, I will keep that one up my sleeve Terry, the bloke was an idiot, couldnt point to a brake disc, he was the man that orders tyres on the pc I think. It probably failed for some genuine reason I don't really know but will report more clearly after this second oppinion, from a real mechanic with proper blue dungarees stood swearing and smoking roll ups :) he is my man for a sensible test, not a branded polo shirt in sight.
  20. Dan, the rear k sports haven't arrived, the 12 weeks they reckoned has now been 14 and they're apparently, due tomorrow. I think they must grow them from seeds :headvswall:
  21. Sorry guys, back with you been out on a job, I'll put it in SAR Saturday later. I don't think the second garage is going to look at it till monday, national tyres did use the rollers, because I said your computer will shit itself when it sees the difference in brake power. The man was a robot, had no shades of grey it was black or white. "Mate my brakes are not standard" "The rears aren't strong enough, the car has failed" etc etc... I just hope this other place is personable as it seemed to be, thanks for the support, I feel a lot better. If he said wheel bearing, or headlight or something I would have said change it, but those 2 particular things. I take it as a victory that that is all they found, Gary and other military people will know, you never get 100% on an inspection.
  22. I'm gonna say that despite the tone of this post I am not actually murderously angry, just pretty frustrated and deeply concered for my car :) Pretty unimpressed, my car failed and is now out of MOT. I took it to a National tyres in Elgin and was suprised to hear it had failed. Brake efficiency! Cough splutter, please stand still while I murder you Mr test man. We can come back to that one, and rusty sills. Now rusty sills, Mark looked at these on my request the other month and said something like, "Tom they're not the best, not the worst, will need doing some time they're now wax oyled and won't be rapidly getting worse." Totally what I expected and I plan to do a full Bodymech job on the car as funds allow next summer, me and Mark agreed this was sensible. Now I have some smirking test man with a toffee hammer and a strong arm telling me "When I see an old car I go straight to the sills, give them a really good looking at." I bet you do fella, pass me that hammer, actually you can keep it I am going to bludgen you to death with this 4 pot k sport rear calliper. "The back brakes are too weak" lets play spot the difference pal, see those 17 inch brakes on the front, and the milk bottle tops on the back, and these new k sport ones to go on. I am not paying you for new rear pads! I quickly took the car to another garage for a second oppinion where it is still sat waiting for a test. I am not after a dodgy mot, just a fair one, to look at the car you can tell it's no banger, held together with tape, it is a pride and joy. I will not pay a man with spry paint and an arc welder 300 quid to rip my side skirts off and pass it when I am going to pay 4 figures for a proper job next year. Sorry, its upsetting to see my car like that, I feel i rescued it from national, I absolutely love the poor thing, I felt as bad as if they said my best friend had failed on rust!
  23. Nice to see a man that is committed to his car  some people don't buy 12 months tax
