  2. Aww, man, that car is beautiful. I hope your circumstances quickly change so you can keep her :clover:
  3. It's a tricky zed problem isn't it, I would rather not have one at all, but felt it was the best of a bad bunch. I don't like the 'in the window' plate, didn't wan't to cover a grille, or have it to the side like an Evo. I would consider a small one but don't want to push it too far.
  4. Noz, if there is a way to buy my ticket you can have it for £80
  5. Attention to detail Si  Well my stick on isn't legal, BUT, it is the right font, spacing, size and reflectivity. Is 3/4 size stick on gona get me into a roadside discussion?
  6. I spose the snout looks alright to me, because in my head I drive... If I didn't know the rain would knacker the engine if I did it, I would have the guys F40 my bonet
  7.   Cheers Russ, again I am humbled by the gestures coming forward. But I tell you what mate, it was a Looooong 2 days! 8 hours from Lossie to the north east (looking at every car and overpass). 3 hours down to Nottingham the next day, then non stop trams and trains from 2pm till 1230. Then a laid on taxi due to delays on the journey to get me to camp. Got to bed at 2am! A proper mission
  8. Sorry to see a load of knowledge leaving our forum mate, It was fascinating seeing some innovation with your build. Stay safe and catch you again sometime :clover:
  9. Ah, the misplaced F40 nostrils Si? Well funny you should say that. I am painting a stock one up myself. I know Bodymech are doing a full job on it, but I wanted to do a small piece myself, my mark on the car. I have done a lot myself, I have paid to have a lot done for me. But I have done some of each aspect of the build myself. And when it looks like finger painting, I'll post it to Bodymech to re-do
  10. A while ago a mate of mine asked for some music mix CDs for his car because I am always listening to music. I had a bit of a mix already up my sleeve, inspired by the drive I did from Lossie to Mark's place a while back. If you remember my car cut out 50 miles into 340 and I ended up driving between 9pm and 2am. It was a bit of a dark and oppressive stormy night, but I made the decision attack rather than to retreat, I drove the world alone that night, called up a sequence of electronic songs on my Ipod, turned the Hicas on, sat in a race seating position, and pulled my lap strap tightly to the best facsimile of a race harness I could manage. I was never going that fast, but never going slowly. My average speed would have been whatever I was allowed, my momentum unstoppable. The thin fog acting as reassurance that I could waft past the thin scattering of lorries I encountered that night, without a lift of the accelerator. The HICAS proved a wise choice, as it converted a Scandinavian flick during the avoidance of a deer, into a stable four wheel side step, not unlike the quick foot work performed upon the late spot of a puddle, when walking the pavement. I rested briefly in Berwick Macdonalds and was joined by a traffic car, a bit like the famous WW1 game of football we enjoyed a Big Mac together at midnight, before a knowing nod was exchanged as we saddled up again, the truce over. That drive was one I will never forget, I used only 2/3 of a tank, driving at pace over 340 miles, my brakes ice cold, my car was grinning with me as I crept onto Mum and Dad's drive. The silence restored, a pat on the roof, the dark sky beginning to lighten again behind me, the car ticking cool beside me, instantly 17 again. With that as a context, I did him a CD, largely electronic music I like, titled ESP, (electronic stability programme). With this poem (below) written inside the cover by way of instruction as to how it should be enjoyed. As I told him, "Think of these as tasting notes for a fine wine." The poem of the petrolhead Tonight will be one of those drives, that produces both stories you tell, and memories that will forever be yours alone. The world has gone sodium orange, softly diffused by the low dew point, which even if not seen can be heard resonating through your air box. The world is a playground. Few people know there is another 2 o'clock in the day, but you do. it's skewed reality a familiar place to be, if the world is a playground then the game is cops and robbers, as they are the only two teams playing tonight. Your senses are heightened with caution, sharp pulses of hot adrenaline dance round your ears, batting away the dull fog brought on by the early hour. A simple commute becomes an adventure. A self imposed challenge, a podium stands at your destination populated only by your past present and future selves. A muttered piece to the wheel settles your affairs in case you're on the losing side tonight, but you never have been before, so you press play, and you press on. Tom Wilson
  11. Glad people don't think it will look too Audi, or tacky. I can see it looking really smart. All 3 front holes filled with the stuff? Hexagons, a subtle nod to the V6?
  12. I s'pose an Audi R8 has it's delicates in the boot... I'm an optimist, it will be fine :sweatdrop:
  13. I have had what I think is a great idea :) My front grill is silvery metal painted black. It has obviously gone silver again and any painted metal will do the same. What if I added a touch of class (by "I", obviously I mean Darren) by using something like this instead. Please discuss, I don't want it to be a 'feature' just a pleasant surprise if anyone inspects it, a nice touch, something to make a petrol-head dip their neck in a car park, like when you spot an intercooler winking at you from inside the mouth of an mx5.
  14. Hello all. an update. I would like to say once again that I truly appreciate the help, advice and support offered to me by members of this forum, as if I needed another reason but I would not swap my zed for a F430 if it meant losing this support network. So Thank you all. I didn't announce what I was going to do because too many people had offered more sensible solutions but I drove the car to Bodymech where it will stay for a good few weeks. The drive was probably legal, I had a lot of paperwork printed off and on the passenger seat, rules and regs, emails, and all my license and insurance stuff; but it was about as stressful a drive as if the boot had been full of guns, girls and crack! I was really shaken when I saw the damage/deterioration, after so much time, effort and money to get a slap in the face/wallet like that was hard. But I am too attached to the car, too stubborn to be beaten, and not cold enough to watch my car be broken. The car will be resurrected, given a new lease of life by Allan and Darren, the clock will be reset on the chassis, after a long discussion I couldn't find a new look for the car that I would be happier with. I thought about Kaki-calimari skirts, diffusers, splitters, but in the end came back round to the fact that I love it how it is. For a change I am having the roof bars painted black and of course the rear K sports are going on. I feel relief that the car will live, like a dog saved from euthanasia I expect it to be wagging it's tail with a loud joi-de-vie when we meet again.
  15. Paul's car is as nice as that purple one.
  16. I did look at that, and haven't discounted it, looks like Glasgow would be the nearest with that partucular company. :whacko: more research required.
  17. I will be dropping it off for a few weeks and will get trains and planes back to Moray. Andrew G, it is out of MOT so in that case I will drive one 9 hour drive then, quite annoying that the sensible safe stop in the middle option is not permitted. With car transporters, I don't think I can drive one, I am 24 and do not have a trailer license.
  18. Grrrr :) You would need some R&D though to make sure your not just cooling the fuel tank or something rather than the brakes.
  19. If someone did the Porche brake cooling vents you see behind the wheels, that would be pretty mean. It would have to be Bob or Jaffa though really. Oh, and yeah, the car looks ace :thumbup1:
  20. A plan is in place. I will collect the car from Forres tomorrow and drive it to my parents place in the North East. Then on Thursday get it to bodymech about mid day. 2 journeys are better than a big 9 hour one, that is common sense and surely a police officer would rather I didn't drive 450 miles in a one-er in efforts to please VOSA. It will then get sorted out by the lads at Bodymech. Alan is going to Email me proof of booked repairs and I have printed out this...
  21. Happy Birthday Dan :thumbup1: :pint:
  22. Well said Spin, I know Bird will feel awful to think he has overstepped the mark with the IRA reference, but it is easy to type quickly but think slowly,. I made a regretful comment on a post of Si's about a fat american, not thinking anything of it, without considering, Si personally knew the woman  What a Knob I felt. Think twice, post once.
