looking for a shithot paint guy
Hi Jay, spoke to my dad, he said he is manic at the moment. He has 4 vehicles to paint over the next couple of months, and as its not his current Job, he just fits it in when he can. I asked him about painting mine, he told me to do the prep work, any removalable panels, remove them, so all nooks and crannies are also ready. I literally have to strip it, rub it down, Hire a compressor and gun, Apply a grey high build primer, rub it down again and tack it as high build gets dusty, then apply a black standard primer, rub it down again, so any imperfections show through as grey high build, once ready, I have to call him, get a date he can come over, then I have to hire industrial compressor which he can use his gun on, four large halogen heaters for the date specified, so he can spray the paint in the morning, and get coats done every 20-25 mins. He reckons he cant spare more than a day though. even for his only son :( I have sprayed cars myself before, and had impressive results for my first attempt at a whole car, it was only block colours but its nothing on what he can do. Unfortunately my font bumper wasnt prepped properly, and the wheels really let the car down. These pics were before the font mesh was installed. Anyway here is some pics of what I personally did: From this: To this:

No Idea Im afraid. However the forum does have many helpful members. I think considering those are your only two posts you have made on the forum, I think your being a little hasty to judge. Not many people been around the past few days, as this is the UK forums, and we have had an extended Bank holiday weekend due to the Jubilee. Im sure when someone who does know the answer comes along, they will post. As it will need a definitive answer, no one is going to post if they dont know. I also assume you are here as your national forum doesnt have the answer? Please give people a chance and they will answer if they know the answer.

looking for a shithot paint guy
Will call him tomorrow as I have day of, He will be home after 2.30pm. He defo made the paint. Had a good 60 litres of it sat in his garage last ime I saw him lol. He also has like a mirror finish electric blue, which he just sprayed his range rover in. dont start to him about permits though. he wasnt hiring in the first place, but as all his employees were British, he got fined for discrimination, and had to hire immigrants (which he does discriminate against, but thats not the point) then he lost his business over it. Great painter though. Mother divorced him when I was 2. him and cars, thats all she says. apparently he sprayed his capri so many times back in the early 80s they went shopping and forgot what colour the car was - literally. Its the prep work thats most important. Only thing he hasnt sprayed is chrome. which is a shame..... as its what I want, but with red tint over it lol.

looking for a shithot paint guy
WTF. My dad actually invented the Rage Chameleon Flip paint. no bull. he also has created a paint which is magnetised, and spreads evenly over metal surfaces. ideal for councils spraying bar fences and lamposts etc.... He used to have the Eddie Stobart and British Airways Contracts, for painting planes and lorries etc.. but his business was shut down due to people working for him with fake permits. Wasnt his fault, he never they where fake. Anyways. He is in south which is gonna be no good for you. As he does still do paint jobs on the side, at home in a heated garage.

sorry old 2008 st500 fiesta*

our old (2008) had this. believe it or not, removing it made the car run cooler and perform better. also aided fuel economy. not saying it would do the same, or be as noticable on the zed, but may be of interest...

any thoughts on carbon wrapping?
Here is exactly how its done:

any thoughts on carbon wrapping?
Jay, Carbon Dipping is a piece of pi$$ mate, you can do it yourself - It wont peel. As for carbon wrapping, depends what parts you want, as the wrap is textured, its a pain in the butt, unless you could get it laquered over and smoothed off, so it looks even more like real carbon, as it will be smooth and easy clean, but still have the 3d weave, as you would on real CF under the resin. (Not sure how the vinyl would react to the laquer though) My only issue with carbon dipping is that the effect will be no better than what you could get from an everyday inkjet printer, printing on photopaper. I.e on our DS3 - The dash is carbon dipped, it doesnt look remotely real, but at the same time weighs nothing - because it doesnt look remotely real, doesnt look like its trying to be something its not (if that makes any sesne) Anyway, I used to make real CF parts too, all honesty, for strength and weight nothing is going to beat it, but for decoration, I reckon the 3M carbon vinyl should be ok.

the debate, keep or sell
problem is you will never get decent money in the current market. 350z is a nice car, but it will depreciate in value and wont go back up, as so many were made, and they were also made easily available to every tom dick and harry. the 300 on the other hand is already rock bottom in price, it can only go up now, soon as the recession is over and people stop trying to save money on fuel, it will start increasing in value :)

What's a sensible boost for a 300zx on stock engine?
Good luck mate. hope all goes well. yes 12psi should be ok. like I said wouldnt go past the 14 on the gauge :D

What's a sensible boost for a 300zx on stock engine?
Id say that was high mileage for a japanese import. Mine has 51,200km on the clock which is about 30,000 miles. Therefore I would at a guess, estimate the engine to have around the equilivent wear and tear as a UK 120,000 miler. (approx 4x more than on the clock) This is as in japan mileage is low, but around 75% of the time they are driving (normally only for commuting) they are in standstill traffic. At this time fans are going, belts are going, pistons are still combusting, fuel pump pumping etc etc... all whilst stood in standstill traffic, in the dry heat of Japan. So basically the chassis has the mileage displayed wear and tear, the engine normally has around 4x more than that.

Hi ToyoII, there is definately not a combined boost despite being twin turbo. Boost is Boost. if it were individual, you would have twin gauges. My boost gauge isnt in PSI its in x100mmHg so its -7 to +7 which is the JDM standard as I understand. BUT, if your hitting the +14 psi or +7 x100mmHg - dont go further, iirc the standard boost should be just over 3/4 of the gauge, if your getting to the end its been overboosted already. Personally, Im happy with mine stock. but thats me :P The engine is 20 years old, it may have been bomb proof when new, but not anymore, they arent as reliable and durable as they were when they were new, and can be fragile if taken too far. Yowser knows what he is talking about, and to be honest, Mark knows to, from experiences good and bad. Your on a great forum here, and the people who have posted, are in the know. Im sure Jimmer and JeffTT would have something to say - would trust them over any wiki page, or product description.

****ing scummy Newport tennants!!!
get the new tennants current address to send through paperwork etc... and "pop by" unexpectedly to personally hand them paperwork of some description, so you can see what state their current place is in :P

****ing scummy Newport tennants!!!
just watched vids, how can people live like that? They ruin it for people like me who privately rent but have dogs. I have a husky and a collie. both live indoors. if their feet are wet, they are pinned in the kitchen with a stairgate, otherwise they have the run. We do hire an industrial carpet cleaner every 6 months, but thats as my partner has no immune system and we cant take risks, but you know how it is, if you spill something, you clean it immediately. no excuse for that mess, whether they have a dog or not. The Queen has dogs, think her carpet would get like that? Mate I really feel for ya. thats shockingly bad. did they paint the tops of the walls and skirtingboards red? proper ruined it, and I think the carpets have gone past a state of being cleanable :(

shocking mate. makes you want to sell up I bet. would landlords insurance not cover the damage? use their "deposit" to pay the excess.

is this too over the top?
without going to far of topic, much work involved in removing the plenum? anything that can go wrong? lol (other than losing bolts or sheering them off?)
-
is this too over the top?
You reckon you could of painted it like that without getting the whole engine out?

Hi Rolandos, Car is looking good :D My question is, which brand of wrap did you use? and being carbon effect, I'd assume its textured, hence hard to clean? I have a friend who had a white 3M carbon wrap on their roof, and looked stunning. Not like real carbon, but stunning in its own right :)
