not really friends, more Aquantancesor whatever the word is lol. Basically best mate had a rex, they tuned to 820bhp at the wheels, and it was a road car. only thing is, it was in being fixed all the time,so i met the guys at Dragon quite a bit lol.

Re Trim
put it this way, to get your whole dash done is £80 if you remove the dash yourself. any other parts cost next to nothing, as once they have the colour to match your requirements, they have no other overheads. its easy to keep clean. wipe over with a damp cloth, run hoover over it, simples.

Bought my TT 300ZX today :D
I love your car Baz. and your right, gloss black would look mint. but think im going to go with OEM. I got agreed insurance value of £4000 on it, fully comp. cost me less than half that to buy as the guy flys out to Japan next week lol. Not sure on its true value, market isnt great right now. but I think they are a classic already, and a future collectors piece imo. Wish I bought the Datsun 260z a few years back when I had a chance. Tried talking misses into buying herself a 350Z, (we cant afford the 370z yet lol) but im talking to a wall. Would love a collection of all the Zed Cars lol.

Bought my TT 300ZX today :D
on this pic of Garys car, the black/ greyish strip on the bumper, where the lights are fitted.... The guy who had my car painted it body colour. Badly. is the original sprayed or is it its natural colour? is it a seperate piece, or one piece part of the bumper? Just wondering how im going to get it back to original, or if I will need to buy another bumper?

Lmao. other red is only quicker because it fades away to pink, and thus weighs less lmao.

That has been the idea mate. it will be resprayed original colour, I found stock wheels on here, but lost the guys number, need to find him again. Would like a new original bumper but its impossible, hence why I was looking at facelifts. but the phase 1 is really growing on me. I dont like the parking assist aerials on the bumper and rear quarter, but its a factory option I think, maybe I should keep. the boot has the original tie straps and looks brand new, as does the rest of the carpets. plush matts could do with a once over, but again, all niggly things. the car is 20 years old, I bought it to restore it though as its already at a very good stage imo.

chipped ecus

Thanks Gary. Its not quite mint, bodywork lets it down. But its an easy fix. Not sure when JAE is, or where lmao. I would like to make it mint, before going to any shows really. so it depends on how long I have. I am thinking full respray in next couple of months, also need new rear lights and center light as they have really intensive cracking in them. but is nothing major. just cosmetic. partners father was examining it earlier, said he was really impressed with its condition, and that it had been looked after really well. All hinges and locks are well greased. oil is really clean, and at correct levels, all the little things count, put it up on ramp and checked underside, no visible rust. will get it waxoyled once skirts are off though, before putting new ones on, and getting the respray.

Nice Car Rolandas, two of my fav colours on the zed, blue and white. I think red will be nicer after respray so it has really deep shine.

I noticed that, took it out, and had a looky lol. it says Nissan on it. So assume its the original. Need to change headunit, as its a Japanese Pioneer one. Pioneer Carrozzeria or something like that lol. All I know is, I cant tune in to UK FM stations as its frequency is much lower :( not a major thing, as I can still use CDs. But Im used to using USB. so a bit of a pain for now lol

Wondered what that was all about lmao. It has another sticker too, on the side of the glove box, on the fabric, all japanese writing though. no idea what it means. interior is mint. but I want to do a leather retrim, so might swap wih someone prior to getting trim done, would be a shame to see a mint set go to waste.

defo mate. Mines up the farm at the moment. Defo want to respray it and get more subtle skirts fitted, 99 front end and lip, plus new rear fibreglass spoiler instead of the rubber one. it doesnt look too bad, im just a perfectionist. Here is some pics I took today, weather a bit crap, but never mind. The floor its parked on is not a sludge pit lmao. its actually 100% flat concrete, just a bit of hay and dead grass all over it from the cows winter feed. will all be cleared up next week. space for 40+ cars there lmao. Apparently the targa covers have never been removed, till today lmao. only took the drivers side one of to see if I preffered it with or without them in lol. Defo preffer them in. Not keen on open glass above my head. maybe the weather didnt help. PICS:

What to clean a banger with before painting help!!
I wouldnt use any shampoo or washing up liquid. its greasy and paint wont stick to greasy surfaces. it needs to be perfect. prep work is the most important part of spraying. I did a full body respray on something a couple of years back got a DA, and used 800 grit all over to remove existing paint, be sure not to take it back to bare metal, as its treated. Once that was done, I blew it over with compressed air to get any loose dust of. Then I used paint cleansing wipes, available from Halfrauds, it drys almost immediately. You might think 800 grit is too harsh, but once you have a nice layer of primer on there, you can go over with a wet 1200 grit lightly by hand, this will make any minor flaws visible, i.e pin holes, dents, deep scratches etc. fill them with a thick building primer, then wet 1200 over again till smooth. Then your ready for paint :P obviously spray it all in one direction, not up and down and then sideways, just one or the other for the whole car, or you will get "tiger stripes" in certain lights when dry, it will need a few coats, with wet 2000 grade over the top, I went to the extreme of 3500 over the top after my respray, but it was a car I was keeping.

Its not big and its not clever
I saw that on FB. I said I wish the insurance company saw it, so they wouldnt pay out as he was driving recklessley.

Re Trim
you could also have it flocked. Very cheap. they spray an adhesive on the parts, then spray it with an elector static fibre, kind of like dust. as its charged, it all stands on end, and sticks permanently. looks like suede / alcantara. They use it in Rally Cars I believe. Mate had his RX7 done, lodas of pics HERE more samples:
