  3. Sunday evening should be OK for me too, just let me know where and when. Cheers, Gaz
  4. Spotted on my way home this evening about 6.25 at the Lion Pub junction. Mr Soup was that you ???? Gaz
  5. I think when I got my one I had a similar problem and I had to go into the communication setting and change the port (set mine to 4) and it then worked for me. Gaz
  6. See I told you you can get a third person in a SWB. .
  7. Have you looked in the FAQ section as I spotted a post about cleaning these connectors, suggestion it to use some Wonder Wheels on them and them scrub lightly. Of course if yours are totally shot then you might not have that option, but worth reading the post. Gaz
  8. I wonder if that's the same one I spotted this morning in Stowmarket. Gaz
  9. You were heading out of Stowmarket towards Needham / A14. Car looked pretty tidy from the brief glimpse I got. That's two I've spotted this week, they must be breeding :) . Gaz
  10. Hi Jack, I'm pretty sure I spotted yours parked in the Ipswich station car park but it was some months back, did post here, maybe you missed it. Gaz
  11. Forums, chat rooms and many other such sites are blocked from work, so I only have access to this site from home.
  12. Was on my way home from work going the other way (not in my Z), you were heading in the Felixstowe direction. Gaz
  13. You don't need to worry about these, can't remember what they're called but I believe it was a little fiddle Nissan added to try and reduce the emmission level. Mine were cut back when I replaced my exhaust with no ill effect several months back. I'm sure someone on here will give you their name and explain exactly what they were for if you are interested. Gaz
  14. And then it fixes itself .................. but I know the problem will be back tomorrow or the day after :( Thanks for the suggestions, I guess replacing the loom bit by bit might be the only way although it's a pain when it's intermittent. I also noticed that when I have this problem the power light does not come on when I boot it. When the problem goes away and the car is running nicely the power light comes on as it should when booted. I wonder if I'm looking in the wrong place, maybe the issue is with the autobox loom ..... oh well, only time and lots of wire will tell. Gaz
  15. Still trying to solve my Z's throttle problem. Short story is that the TPS is pushing out 0.44V (checked with multimeter and replaced TPS), even on the plug into the ECU. Datascan shows the TPS voltage as 0.9V. As a consequence the car is not running well, high idle and very harsh gear changes. It also seems to sit at higher revs when cruising, but maybe that's another problem. Anyway I've now swapped out both the auto box ECU and the main engine ECU and have the same readings, so whilst I'm happy that's 2 more bits ruled out I'm still left with my problem. So I'm thinking there must be a short or something elswhere or possibly some other sensor into the ECU causing this, but all the wiring diagrams I've found just show the ECU as a black box, so I can't trace anything. Has anyone come across this problem before and can offer any clues as to what's causing it. It's in the garage next week for new rear shocks and HICAS joints and I'll probably ask them about this, but I suspect they may have to hunt for the problem just as I am. So here I am sitting in the car typing this wondering what to do next  :( Gaz
  16. What they say above, yes these cars need a cooler for the auto box. Mines an import and it was one of the first things I did this year after reading about it here and whilst I agree that the original cooler is next to useless, removing it completely does not make sense unless it is to fit a larger one. It's is a known issue and I think this should have been explained to you. After fitting my cooler I took it for a spin to check everything out and it was a cold day in April, only went about 5 miles and I couldn't believe how hot the new cooler got, so I am not suprised these things fail with the existing J spec cooler let alone none whatsoever. Gaz
  17. If you have access to a multimeter you can check the TPS very easily. With engine running, connect -ve probe to a suitable engine ground [battery –ve] & insert +ve probe into the back of middle wire (white) on the grey connector. If you see a reading of around 0.44v at closed throttle then I'd say your TPS is OK. I believe it should rise to somewhere around 5V with the throttle wide open. Of course if you don't have a multimeter then this won't help :( Gaz
  18. The autobox oil cooler on those radiators is very small and virtually useless. Whilst I can see no reason why it would not work, I don't think you will see much, if any difference if you make additional use of it for you engine oil. If you have any issues with the temperature of your engine oil, it would be far easier just to get a slightly larger radiator and replace your existing one. Gaz
  19. Yes it is sorry, bit of a slip on the keyboard there, well spotted. I have a few 20K resistors should anybody want one. .
  20. If you're handy with a soldering iron, then take the clocks out and change the R10 resistor. The Jap spec clocks have a 33K ohm one in, replace it with a 20K one and hey presto the clock reads MPH. There are a couple of Pots on the clocks as well, one will adjust the speed at which the bong noise (sorry can't think of any better description) comes on and the other adjusts the speedo accuracy, so if you find it's still out by 5% or so, you can adjust that pot. I have a few spare 10K resistors if you want one. Gaz
  21. Have you tried measuring the voltage out of the back of the TPS with a multimeter just to confirm the ECU is reporting the TPS voltage correctly?. Gaz
  22. Assuming you're after info because you're looking to buy a Z then you will find your choice of insurance companies quite limited if the car has lots of modifications. I had this issue a couple of months ago, each time I mentioned the boost controller and aftermarket chip I met a pause followed by "sorry we can't cover you" and that included many of the brokers people reccomend on here. I'm 43 with lots of no claims in a low risk area, it's a second car and ended up paying over £500 with Sky Insurance (not part of Sky btw) and I must have rung 10 or more places. Having said all that, it's worth every penny. Gaz
  23. Well I guess it makes sense to start tightrope walking at a nice low height.
  24. Cheers Pete, yes it's Mike I've been getting my parts from, just wanted to hear if there were other (better) options, but I'll probably give Mike a ring, if only to find out how much wonga I'll need.
  25. Had the car in the garage this week getting some front bushes fitted (original Nissan) and getting the rear end checked out as it's like driving on marbles sometimes. Anyway they've had a look and say the ball joints on the HICAS have to much play in them and also the shocks could do with changing and to be honest I'm not suprised as I thought this was my problem. Anyway, I figure I may as well get some of the bushes replaced at the same time whilst it's in bits. I have generally been buying Nissan parts, but wondered if there are better options out there for shocks and bushes for the same or very similar money (don't want to stiffen the car up any more or lower it by the way). Also, is there a list of the bushes for the rear of the car that I should ideally change whilst this work is being done? and are polyurethane ones better all round or just for some of the bushes. Lots of questions, but lots to consider as I want it running smoothly again but don't have a large budget. Cheers, Gaz Oh and it looks as though my vibration at 40mph+ is my prop (again not suprised really) :( .
