any views on the k+n air filter guys? was getting a second hand blitz filter (still may yet) , but have just been offered the K+N kit, not sure what to do? :confused: cheers, gaz!

just ordered myself one of the apexi avcr from a company called "officially pimped" (http://www.officiallypimped.co.uk). they are selling for £225 on his web site. (he may also have them on ebay) asked him about the recall on these units before ordering and he says this has been sorted out. gaz!

its very rare that i even see one other zed in town, and then today there were four (one was mine but this sounds more impressive!) :nana2: *G reg - red zed *H reg - black zed *J reg - blue zed so "hi" to all of you! ;)

i got the same thing on mine! had car converted to manual back in jan, maybe it justs need bleeding as some suggest..........is this easy to do?

lovely two tone (chocalate brown and matt grey) 1983 vauxhall cavalier, with beige cloth interior, 4 speed 1.6 GL, purchased this beauty for £260. even though this was an "ABSOLUTE SKIP ON WHEELS" nothing beats the joy of owning your first motor.........fond memories (blew head gasket within 3 months....that was the end of that!)

hello mate ive heard that these are prone to failing, mine doesnt always read right and ive recently had a new engine fitted. :confused: im sure there will be a way to test it though if you are concerned. whereabouts in east yorks are you, i live in scarborough? :nana2:

hi mate had mine converted from auto to manual in jan 05, and to be honest i love it! i feel that you have that bit more control over the car. and as mine is a jap import i thought it a good idea to get rid of the auto as alot seem to think they are rubbish. mine had just had a rebuild before i bought it, then 2k later it packed up again. deffo prefer the manual! gaz! :dance:

hi there mate! i got a h reg import twin turbo. mods on mine are : 70bhp chip and boost upgrade by zedworld (£350), stainless back boxes and decat, also to arrive is a blitz sus airfilter (many on here recommend the apexi single cone filter as being quite good), just ordered the apexi avcr boost controller (£230). i would say these are quite simple mods and not too expensive to carry out, but they make ALOT :D of difference to the performance of the car!! zedworld has given me alot of help and advice, and they are based in tamworth which i dont think is too far from you. im off to hay on wye near hereford next week for a holiday!!! (thought you mite like to know!?) welcome to the site anyway!!!!!!!!!!

sorry to hear about your run of bad luck! i know exactly how it feels.........mine cost me about 5 grand in the first year. got it from a garage as a part exchange car, only to find out it had blown headgasket! went to get that repaired which cost £1200......whilst it was in the garage the exhaust fell off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! another £300 gone! got it back and every water pipe you can think of either fell off or split (getting frustrated by now!). and then.........lots of james bond style smoke screen effect from the exhausts. decided at that point to go to a specialist, not the backstreet garages id been using. it was diagnosed as a very poorly engine that needed throwing out! so due to a lack of funds i had to wait couple of months untill i could afford the £1500 for the engine replacement. two months later and £1500 in my pocket i set off to the garage for my new engine..........auto gearbox packed up on the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my words were kinda like..."oh thats annoying" (or something like that). anyway new engine and gearbox eventually got done and all was good, or so i thought. auto blew again!!!!. anyway after much thinking i decided to repair her once again, but this time i fitted a manual gearbox. the end result.................its actually running lovely, and i got a couple of grand back from the garage i bought it from in the first place! so i know its cost you a fortune but maybe for the sake of having a recon engine fitted it sounds like the car would be pretty good after that. so you could keep it (if you got any time for it now?!), or you could sell it for probably a decent price. anyway whatever you do i hope it works out for you! GAZ!

i got these bailey bovs about a month ago, and was quite impressed with them (£205 from ebay). took me ages to do first one, but once i done that and knew what i was doing it wasnt too much of a struggle for the second one. ended up having to remove the fan to get to the originals but once i managed to gain access it werent too bad. didnt take the oil cooler off , although mine is a jap import so it may be smaller........although it has been upgraded to a bigger one (apparently), looks same size as yours in photo. have fun!

never heard of one myself!! so cant really give much advice on it, but what i would say is many of these guys are pretty clued up about the zed...........if they say its bad i would personally stay away and save your brass....up to you!

had alot of trouble with my auto too. basically in 2 years it had 3 gearboxes. it is a jap model, which needed an extra oil cooler fitted as the standard one doesnt work well (wish id known this earlier)!! in the end i decided to get a manual fitted. cost £1500 (could poss get it cheaper by couple of hundred though) but was deffo worth it. just can be hard trying to source the parts. there are a few places that can provide just the gearbox but its getting all the extra bits that are a nightmare! hope you get sorted though mate - gaz.

after reading couple of posts/thread/replies decided im gunna get the apexi avcr boost controller, as some of you have owned this and been happy with it. :) apparently though there has been a problem with some units (something to do with the "processor") that were made in the last 1-2months, so apexi have made a recall on them. dont know if this is of interest or help to anyone but just thought id let you know! (dont go buying any "bargain second hand units" if they only month or so old they mite be dodgy............i almost did, glad i found this out just in time!). im still gunna get this unit but it looks like there will be a couple of weeks wait. :(
