The saga continues...
Well the MOT was this morning and she failed :( Emmissions could not be measured because the air leak in the exhaust system was so bad.. While under the car, we established that the leak is probably where the pass side downpipe meets the tub. You could actually feel the air if you stuck your hand up by the joint... This downpipe obviously would have been reattached when the tubs were upgraded. However, the bolts look quite rusty and almost untouched  Looks like some liquid gasket has been applied to the joint as well... I'm going to undo the downpipe and see if I can get a better seal. Just hoping to christ that it isn't a crack or something more serious :( Should I get hold of the proper gasket for this or would a homemade effort suffice to get her throught the test? She also failed on the following: Front wipers fooked Front ns headlight aim too low Offside rear reg plate lamp not working I've booked the retest for tomorrow week - wish me luck! CheerZ Steve :)

The saga continues...
LOL - finally got around to this yesterday. All hoses under the battery area looked sound. Got under the car and both inlet and exhaust sides of pass turbo look ok as well  Ran the car for 20 mins on idle and the noise near the pass rear of plenum sounded like cross between a diesel and a helicopter taking off :( Also on giving it some revs, the engine was stumbling and almost stalling when returning to idle... I think I need to check my ECU temp sensor as it seemed to be getting much warmer than usual (after market gauge showed 190F/90C and aux fan stayed off). And why the fook would my electrical temp gauge face (Autometer) steam up?  Any help appreciated! CheerZ Steve :smash:

Being a Police Officer in the UK
Somebody sent me this today... Being a Police Officer in the UK Question: How do you tell the difference between a British Police Officer an Australian Police Officer and an American Police Officer? Answer: Pose the following question: You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, a dangerous looking man with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, raises the knife, and charges. You are carrying a Glock .40, and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do? UK POLICE OFFICERS Answer : Well, that's not enough information to answer the question! Does the man look poor or oppressed? Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation? Does the Glock have appropriate safety built into it? Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children? Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me? Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? Should I call 999? Why is this street so deserted? We need to raise taxes, have a paint and weed day and make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behaviour. If I raise my gun and he turns and runs away, do I get blamed when he falls over running away, knocks his head and kills himself? If I shoot him, and lose the court case does he have the opportunity to sue me, cost me my job, my credibility and I will lose my family home? AUSTRALIAN OFFICERS Answer: BANG! AMERICAN OFFICERS Answer: BANG! BANG! BANG ! BANG! BANG! BANG ! BANG! BANG! BANG ! BANG! BANG! BANG ! Click.... (Sounds of reloading) BANG! BANG! BANG ! BANG! BANG! BANG ! BANG! BANG! BANG ! BANG! BANG! BANG ! Click. Daughter: 'Nice grouping, Dad! Were those the Winchester Silver Tips? ' Steve :)

Speeding Fines - Rules changing
Apparently, muggers and burglars have the right to remain silent and privilege against self-incrimination. Motorists do not! How fooked up is that? http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/law/reports/article2067417.ece Steve

Had enough..new computer tomorrow
I disagree Pete. I've just had a customer who has been told to restore their PC to factory settings because they had a faulty modem FFS. Most of their tech people seem to just follow a script and have no real knowledge IMO. They're reasonable machines, until they go wrong and with the quality of components used (especially in the Dimension range) they usually do in my experience :( Still, you get what you pay for and if it's a cheap PC it's got cheap or end of line components.. Steve :)

going to america with criminal record
I think we could learn a few things from Uncle Sam in this instance  A friend of mine overstayed her 90 days by about a week. The next time she went to the US she was denied entry and sent home on the next plane. A bit harsh maybe, but at least they stick to their guns... Steve :)

DVLA cant be THAT bad....
No, the DVLA computer showed it as taxed. Council simply didn't check it :xxx:

DVLA cant be THAT bad....
Even though the DVLA computer says that you're taxed, you still have to display the tax disc in the vehicle. A woman in Croydon has just come back from her holidays to find her car missing from outside her house. Further enquiries revealed that the council had towed the car and had it crushed because she was not displaying her tax disc! She swears that it was there when she went away and could only assume it had been stolen. Council say they're not liable and her insurance won't pay out either  Steve :)

Anyone got the zcentre HID's?
It's just a warning to prevent grease from your fingers contaminating the bulb. Not sure of the science, but I think that it can shorten the life of the bulb IIRC. If you wear gloves when fitting then it eliminates the risk... HTH Steve :)

Sorry state of affairs when things get this bad...
