  1. Exactly what I was thinking
  2. Same here, I remember liking the updated sharper look but found navigating the site a tad annoying to start with but didn't give it another thought from a week or so after the change. Can't believe that was over a year ago!
  3. Did you guys have any joy with it today?
  4. Nice car, interior looks very nice!
  5. I was following the google maps camera car a while back https://maps.google.com/maps?q=nr23tt&hl=en&ll=52.638101,1.259429&spn=0.000884,0.002642&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=37.735377,86.572266&hnear=Norwich+NR2+3TT,+United+Kingdom&t=m&layer=c&cbll=52.638289,1.259273&panoid=462IaIxhIVNFVPxtks_PFA&cbp=12,0.09,,0,3.89&z=19
  6. Looks cool Mark, Are you using TT oil squirters or NA? I've read about the NA being better if using aftermarket pistons not sure if there is any validity to the claims. That guy looks like he's getting a bit excited over your empty engine bay in pic 9
  7. Cool 1st person video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvTVbko8zSs
  8. Looks outstanding. My girlfriend is in WA at the moment staying in Margs, your pictures plus what she's sending me make me want to go back over immediately
  9. I cant get the link to open mate
  10. Make sure you post as soon as you know what the result is Steve im dying to know
  11. So what's your guess Noz?
  12. 561 fwhp, 550 ft lb as max power not necessarily what you leave it at. I hope it's a good result for you I just found out my tubs are the same as PE1420's. You have the benefit of free flowing heads as well........
  13. You can use one of the nipples coming off the balance bar mate.
  14. As above, I joined seatcupra.net plenty of good info on there and there may be someone on there that can recommend a good independent garage near you. I would get it plugged into vagcom and see if any fault codes have been stored before spending any money on it. You can buy cables and basic versions of this on ebay and the port is located in the centre console under the fag tray.
  15. No idea on how the earths work mate but if tapping the bulb helps then like Scubanesh said it's probably the holder. The bulb hasn't blown this time has it?
  16. Found a pic, this is the drivers side just behind the headlight, it's near enough the same place the opposite side
  17. There are two earths for that loom I know of and they are both behind each headlight just on the outside of the chassis legs. A black cable with a metal loop on the end held down by a single M6 bolt. I can't find an actual pic but if you're not sure where I mean let me know and i'll add some 'paint' arrows to a picture
  18. As much as I like a nice Scooby I have to agree with Pez. The build you are doing on your Zed looks pretty epic and it will suffer if you buy this. It's not your fault, your a bloke:shifty:
  19. There was a thread not long ago where Noz mentioned his favourite was to use a front mount then locate an airfilter in each of the side mount positions. You will need a dual/dummy MAF setup or an aftermarket ECU that reads MAP and intake air temps. Having the airfilters at the side reduces the length of intake pipework as well
  20. It's about 10mm thick where the bolt threads through and yeah I didn't take into account it being cast. The way I see it the bolt doesn't have any 'pull' on it during braking there's just force acting on it perpendicular to the way it sits, the thread is just there to keep it there. I know my limit and it's beyond my ability to sort now so im giving someone who knows their stuff a buzz in the morning to arrange for them to sort it out. Right pain in the ass, should have been an hour or so job! :death:
  21. Liking those wheels as well. Black is such a good colour for a Zed
  22. Agreed, im over that idea now along with helicoils, just going to call the garage in the morning and hand it over. Cheers for all the input guys
  23. Yeah zinc coating is hard to work with I normally take the coating off and it's alright. My main issue is knowing what settings to use. The owner of the welder is going to show me when he's next back but that's not for a while. Already had a look on their website and it's not very specific but i've been around the local places but the no joy they are all to slim. I need to stick a 10mm drill bit through to clean it up properly so need something pretty hefty to stick back in. Cheers Yeah it's exactly like that which is why I was reluctant to go the new carrier route as i've never dealt with that before so I think im going to take it to my friends garage and let him deal with it. What did the carrier cost you for that A3? Edit: When I say carrier im referring to the hub
  24. It would need to be pretty much flush, a flange on the end would be ok but the smaller thread needs to be inside the larger. It's in steel but last time I used the mig on thick steel I couldn't get decent penetration, it just spat alot if you know what I mean. Im not sure what feed speeds should be and it was on full amps so just might not have the balls. I don't think I could drill out a 10mm threaded bar accurately enough. It's to secure the end of a caliper to carrier bolt on a MK5 golf tdi. Whoever changed the discs last wrecked the thread and did a bad job helicoiling it as part of it came out with the bolt and the rest pushed through when I tried to re-secure it. A new carrier is an option but if you've ever seen one on a tdi they didn't make it simple. I could just weld the back of the bolt to the carrier but im not one for bodging and im not sure if it's even accessible with the disc installed off the top of my head. Any ideas?
  25. Im not sure if this is possible as after searching the net I can't find what im looking for so if anyone knows the proper name or where to get them let me know. I have a M8x1.25 bolt that needs to go into a M10x1.25 threaded hole. Im picturing it as an oversized helicoil or threaded insert. It needs to be able to hold 25ft lb. This is not Z related.
